I really need to start doing my own art.. (except for portraits of people). But I'm just really intimidated by other artists on Tumblr. There is so much talent there it's unreal

i'm that way too. actually a lot artists use references and change it to make it theirs. i'm not quite there yet though, originality. i really like drawing people but i'm getting better at drawing from the top of my head too :) and you're young! you've got a lot of time to practice. i've been drawing all my life but i really took an interest in art to pursue as a career around your age (i'm almost 17). just keep practicing and drawing :D
