I was just looking at one of my recent photos which is bright in the foreground and dark in the background and couldn't come up with a good answer for how to fix it. I'll try again now that I've seen these tips.

The foreground does not connect with the background at all despite thinking it would be brilliant when itook the photo. Oh well, that happens sometimes but I have you video saved in my photo tips playlist and look guest's to using it. Thanks for the great tips.

Thanks it's a good video! When you brighten up dark parts, don't you also get problems with noise? I often come across this problem, denoise may help a bit of course, just depends on how much you brighten up

Thanks. Depends on the camera, iso and amount of shadow recovery you do. Definitely older camera models will struggle more, but anything made in the last 5 years will generally have a good enough dynamic range to reveal the details with minimal noise. That’s also why you want to come in with a file not too underexposed. Cheers :)
