It seems you’re stretching to make this video longer. 5 minutes to explain that you may have left an order open. This could have been a 2 minute video. Nice and concise

This is absolutely awesome advice...I got distracted or thrown off on Friday because the spike scanner I use everyday was down, so I tried whatever and it turned into a red day because of me being thrown off...the day didn't have to be red at all...in hindsight, I was trading on trades that are dependant on that tool in order to have the whole picture in order to make a determination of the riskyness of what may appear to be an oportunity when it wasn't. If you have tools that you use to make day trading positions, and that tool is down or you have determined that it is not working properly, or something is going on to where you cannot access that tool that helps you to make good trading decisions, then what I have determined from now on is not to trade, or maybe spend time entering into low risk swing trades, but skip day trading until I have all the tools I use working properly to do so effectively...there will always be another day to trade, IMO. Thanks for the video.

also smart to work with "just in case stops". Stops that might be 2X or 3X what your willing to lose but just in case your internet kicks out or lights shut off, your order is out there preventing your bank account reaching 0

I fully understand that YT algorithms prefer +10 min videos over short ones. But, as you can see from many other comments, this is a clear example on how NOT to do it. Don't be afraid of posting quick and simple videos from time to time, but for trade sake, don't make us waste this amount of time just for something that could have been a 2 minutes video.

Goddamn, I'm at 4min and still hasn't told us what the hotkey is... This should have been a 45 second video. Edit: now I'm at 6 minutes and just finished watching my second ad and still no mention of the hotkey. I'm out.
@claytrader3 жыл бұрын
Because without context, the Hot Key is gonna sound stupid.

@@claytrader "There are times when you need to quickly cancel all of your orders, whether you're stepping out to the restroom or realize the price isn't going to cooperate. An easy solution for this is to create a hot key to "cancel all orders". Every brokerage platform should have this and it's incredibly useful." - There's your 60-second video script. I value my time and can't sit through 6 minutes of repetitive context. If someone doesn't know when they would need to cancel orders, I don't think a hot key will serve them well anyway.

It has happened to me. I placed a limit but and got a partial fill. The stock sent up (a good amount) and I closed my position for a nice profit. I never canceled the rest of the order. As my bag karma had it that was my last grade for the day. I exited my trading platform and documented my good day. Later, as usual I checked I checked the market on my phone and noticed I had an open position! The stock fell to my original entry point and I got filled as the stock was crashing. By the time I got out I was down for the day with a (thankfully) small loss. It happens in some form to us all. GREAT TIP that I will use going forward.

So, 'cancel' means to put on hold until you get back to your device? Or that you 'sold' your shares? I just started trading and I've learned a lot from you, Clay.

If you are trying to buy a stock, it will "cancel" your attempt to do so. Watch this video: claytrader.com/videos/trading-101-buy-stocks/

So, what if distraction arrives and, out of habit, you hit “cancel all” and you cancel a limit order that hasn’t filled...that would close out an open position??
