That devil fruit is not the only reason Blackbeard killed Thach. A pirate has to have permission to leave the crew unless he breaks the iron rule of killing one of his crew mates, so killing Thatch is how Blackbeard accomplished that.

Something I really appreciate is that Luffy (by all typical shonen manga/anime standards) SHOULD have awoken a new power due to the rage like a super sayian, but no. No power up. Nothing unlocked, just a broken little rubber boy losing someone very important to him. A vulnerable moment for sure, but one that absolutely intensifies one's interest in seeing him make it through this.

Very good episodes, but the anime for me had made a mistake: Whitebears seems too powerful when in the manga it wasn't like this, especially in his fight with akainu, whitebeard "showing up" behind akainu, frightening him, and made newgate way stronger than akainu (not talking about the fact that akainu destroyed half of whitebeard face). It doesn't change anything for the story, but it disappointed me because that makes the admiral less powerful than they are, especially Akainul. He was stronger than whitebeard in the manga, in every aspect (whitebeard was already weak before the battle, two or three times that was said, even marcosaid that whitebeard could have dodged squard attack if he wasn't old and ill)
