We, citizens of YT, have long loved morning & nighttime routines, but what if there was another just as important routine?? Thank you CoPilot for sponsoring this video! Get 14 days FREE with your own expert fitness & health coach: go.mycopilot.com/rowenatsai
In my humble opinion, weekend routines help set up our upcoming weekdays for success. By using the two precious off-days to be proactive & intentional with how we spend our time, just by spending a few minutes roughly planning for our weekends will do nothing but wonders for us. Here are 12 simple steps for how I have the most deeply productive and equally deeply restful weekend 😌

1 - Reframe what "productive" looks like 2 - Draft a detailed plan (loosely held) 3 - Whatever you gotta do, have fun with it 4 - Find pockets of stillness amidst "doing" 5 - Give yourself grace (re: loosely held) 6 - Accountabilty helps 7 - When you're out, be out 8 - When life happens, let it happen 9 - Pay attention to the (not so) subtle hints 10 - Pick up the towel 11 - Schedule time for empty spaces 12 - Sit down & plan for the week

recently i watched a video about someone defending that the most important thing in life is to enjoy ourselves and it was a great point because we tend to get anxious and tired and worried about things that don't really matter and we lose ourselves in the process, so it's super important to take some moments to reflect and re-prioritize

I’ve recently started being a baker at a Japanese bakery. It’s very tiring. I’m also trying to work out my ideal life outside of work. My dream life. While also dealing with family issues that are bringing me down. I’m often just so tired. And my weekends are either ALL work or ALL rest, and either way I end up so upset with myself. These last couple weeks I’ve been wanting to develop a balanced weekend routine and this could NOT have come at a better time. Thank you, Ro. 🙏🏼

Can we take a moment to appreciate the awesome jump transition to the couch?! 😁 Rowena, I really appreciate the authenticity in sharing some of the more challenging parts of your weekend when you didn't have to. I have the best weekends when I get my physical space together, do something social, meal prep, move my body, and reflect/ plan for the week ahead.

As someone who is currently transitioning out of a season of my life in which I worked constantly and would feel guilty for resting (or feel like I needed to work extra hard to “earn” it), this was definitely what I needed to hear! Loved when you said “a weekend spent proactively being a potato is just as productive as a weekend spent working” - need to write that down and put it on my bathroom mirror :) - Em

my routine has been saturday is our day to go out, something fun-often a adventure somewhere -family time/mental break..........sunday is rest/prep day - i get up, workout, spend several hours relaxing (watch youtube vlogs/video games/reading). spend a bit of time cleaning (a hour), food shop..and then prep for the week. often a fun supper (pizza, burgers, tacos) and a movie is evening plan----do laundry daily ppl, dont leave it piling up

I had several breakdowns from burn out this past week, which was definitely the universe's (not so subtle) hint of telling me to be still. the idea that rest can in turn make you more productive, sounds so counterintuitive but that really is the way it works. rowena, thank you for this sweet reminder to let our souls rest 🤍

Promess: the content you make is up to you and me, as a watcher has the right to decide weather watching it or not, but not the right to tell creators what to do and what not. But I just wanted to say, I am happy to see you this "relaxed", loving your energy in the last videos. For a while, I dropped off your content and other productivity creators since the perfectionism portrayed in the videos gave me anxiety. Watching this channel rebuilding from a foundation of simplicity and happiness in all of his form makes me really happy. It now became a safe space where I can find myself in your words

Every time it happens I break down into tears because it’s always exactly what I’m going through and exactly what I need right at the moment but it’s always so hard to make that change or to be nice to myself. When I see your videos, it soothes my soul and reminds me that I’m worth it, and that I’m only human and that’s okay. Thank you so much for always sharing this part of yourself with us. This is so true. I manage my own time and I can ruin a weekend by thinking "I'll do it later" and postponing an easy task through the entire thing, thereby feeling guilty and never resting or enjoying it fully. So just starting, even if it's half-assed, makes the rest of my weekend so much better!

I think my main problem is that I spend too much time not doing much. I think slow productivity could help me to balance my rest time out more so that I’m not wasting my time doing aimless things. I can spend so many hours on my phone a day (I’m talking up to 5 hours or more here) and not have got anything done in both my weekdays and weekends. I think it’s still important that I have rest periods cos of my health issues but I need them to be more spaced out and I need to be doing more meaningful things in my life. Thanks Ro for sharing your thoughts on slow productivity! I’d never heard of it before you started talking about it on your channel and it makes me want to experiment with it in my life more :)

I just spent a weekend dog sitting while binge-watching This Is Us (every episode is tearful therapy for me). Ate awesome, healthy, homemade food already all pre-made (in a 4+ hour epic cooking session I did during the week) so easy to just heat up and no grocery shops needed. Walks 3 times a day (and sometimes dog park) on a schedule for the dog added good little light outdoor exercise routine and structure. Ignored my phone basically other than to update the dog parent and a supportive phone call. So huge break from internet, networking, research projects, big life decisions, and phone screen. Went to a farmers market. That was it. Simple weekend and it was such a recharge. While making money for hanging with an awesome, cuddly dog and a really nice change of environment. Was also 100% break from driving car and any hunting out city parking spots. Just parked in same spot all weekend and only transportation was my feet and body which felt great.

Inspiring. I’ve heard time and time again that to plan out your free time gives you good reenergized free time. Doing this is a bit of a struggle though. Like giving myself hours of ”allowed” tv time instead of having them but most of the time trying to make myself something ”useful”. Something for next week when hopefully my covid is gone. Blessed for vaccine and a milder version than when I got it 2020.
