This is also how Mario Wonder works, though its a bit different, i always have online on so i load into a level and i see a mario, and we pal around and go through a few levels until we get into a level and theres already a mario, so then he was assigned peach instead, until the next level where he was mario again.

@@MrMariosonicman I would expect it would be needed to make multiple colors of Yoshi, Birdo, Shy Guy, Koopa Troopa, Boo and Goomba. As for Donkey Kong, I suspect that if they just add the Western Land Mario Party 2 Outfits to the 4 Bros. the 3 Princesses, and DK it should theoretically help balance the game out with fewer hitbox glitches. It seems obligatory at this point, and if Nintendo wanted to add any other outfits from Mario Party 2, it should deffinitely be up to them to decide, since they've already done it, and I, copying this idea from Mario Party 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, and other similar games Nintendo has had before, have no right to tell Nintendo what to put and what not to put in their game. And aside from Game Freak parodying a character I made as a small Easter Egg in their games, Nintendo has never used an idea I gave them, unless it existed before I told them the idea. (I suggested F-Zero 35 though, I was shocked to see F-Zero 99, I assume they were working on it before Pacman 99. I definitely wasn't the influencer who triggered it's existence)

I did not realize this was how the game worked in Superstars, but I will say- yeah, you’re absolutely right. I still think we’ll be getting like, 28-30 characters, though. My reasoning is and always has been in Super Mario Party, there was an even split of characters for Team Mario and Team Bowser, we’ll call them. And in Jamboree, we have seen 12 characters for Mario’s team and 9 for Bowser, with Ninji presumably being an unlockable. Now, I have very big doubts Mario’s side will have zero unlockable characters, at the very least I see no reason to cut Diddy Kong since this game is likely to reuse assets from Super. And Pauline just seems like a likely choice, given how she’s showing up everywhere else that Mario spins off into. So we’d need at least 5 characters for Bowser to be equal at 14. Maybe we get more, who knows? I’m not expecting many more, but an even 30 sounds a fair bit better than 28.

@@wootmasterzorsx I understand that logic, but I always felt like Bowser and Mario had even teams because of that story where Bowser is like “Fuck you guys!! Bad guys want to play too.” and so it was kind of like there was a good guy team and a bad guy team, and maybe that’s still the case considering the division in the preview image with most of the characters. I feel like it’s either 25 or 30 personally, but 30 just sounds too big.

@@ItsKevRA Yeah, that also makes sense. It could really go any way with this game’s roster. The one thing for sure though is they’re not gonna like, have it be 21 characters and just end it there. That’s just a weird number.

It’s really just too early to say any which way. I will fully admit I could be wrong and we only got these 21 characters. We just gotta wait and see.

I just think it’s POSSIBLE there’s only 21 characters and that Ninji is a gag character in the story intro, which is why we don’t seem him when we see the other 20 characters in that “good guys on the top, bad guys on the bottom” moment. But I’d honestly put money against that and say there 4-10 unlockable characters.

i never really paid much mind to the people saying that koopathlon means that we have to have more characters because i feel that's never been how the devs of these games think about rosters, ive been more thinking about the people saying that bowser isnt playable in koopathlon because he's not shown in the footage, like i just thought it made the most sense to swap him out for ninji when showing that mode idk why people feel the need to look into that as anything to be concerned about

@@MrMariosonicman It’s probably harder to implement in other games where characters have special attributes. Like, it would be impossibly for Smash Bros. because they all have different attacks. Heck, the same even applies to Super Mario Party because of character dice.

That‘s like putting Mario, Luigi, Wario & a random Toad or Koopa into a Party instead of Waluigi who‘s right there.😅 It doesn’t feel satisfying & I have literally no desire to play as Birdo or Toadette because I like the Princesses with their flowy hair, dresses and high heels :D

Seeing everyone as different chatacters in random matches makes sense so that you can pick character before you even find a match and dont have to repick everytime and ofc it prevents duplicates if more people pick same characters. However imo it should be random only if there are actual duplicates. Otherwise they should make it so you see them as characters they actually picked unless theyre duplicates. In mario party superstars you see everyone as random characters even if everyone picked different characters. It should be only if there are duplicates imo so if everyone picks Waluigi you will see others as different characters but if everyone picks different character without there being any duplicates it should be so you can see them as characters they actually picked.

I always figured the 20 player mode was going be client side since i already kind of assumed that superstars ran that way, I play waluigi exclusively and while i know not everyone plays him, he's still popular enough have some contention so to make matchmaking much more streamlined they'd have to make it client side, makes especially good sense when you consider there's no character specific advantages like the unique dice like in super

This makes me wonder how they did it in Super Mario Party online, they might've randomly assigned characters in the mini-game exclusive modes, but in the recent online mode, I assume they couldn't randomly assign the characters there because each character had unique dices, and characters having buddies as well would've made things messy fast. I wonder if they'll be any character specific things like dices or buddies in Jamboree, if there is, I'm guessing it wouldn't be included in the 20 player mode. 🤔

i think we'll probably end up with around 26 characters total. 14 good guys, 12 bad guys, mostly cause well, diddy kong is guaranteed, every mario party has 2 newcomers, so pauline feels guaranteed as the other newcomer aside from ninji. but then on the bad side i still think we need hammer bro/dry bones since they both have models in super, and then possibly one more for MAYBE blooper from mp8??

This game seems to have a ton of promise though so I’m with you. I’m at least hopeful we could see more. 25 honestly seems like a nice round number to up a sequel to, but also it won’t be even with good/bad guys. I assume like Super they’ll want it to be even.

@@andytekampe8748 That’s so weird to me though because everyone is friendly while playing Mario Party, Wario and Waluigi are considered “good guys” for some reason, and the the majority of bad guys seem like they can be either good or bad. The only reason I think you might be right though is because of the one shot where good guys are on top and bad guys are on bottom.

Ex: Alan, Betty, Craig & Dan join a room, & pick Mario, Luigi, Peach & Yoshi, respectively. Will they appear as like, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy & Yoshi from one player's perspective, yet Donkey Kong, Bowser, Peach, & Birdo from another player's perspective & so on & so forth?

I don't care about the topic of the video being about how 20-player mode in _Super Mario Party Jamboree_ would work, but it's even more bizarre that most of you guys don't care the least bit about Diddy Kong when it comes to specific playable characters in the game. Thinking that characters are the least important part, you say? Think again. It _is_ the most important. After all, since Bowser Jr. is in the game, so should Diddy. The more specific characters in the roster, the more fun it'd truly be, because Donkey Kong would hate having Yoshi, Birdo, or any other character instead of Diddy as his team partner in team modes. Call me a sucker for DK and Diddy playing together in Mario Party games if you wish, but having these two primates playing as a team in team modes would be more fun than anything else in this upcoming Mario Party game. Characters > gameplay. And no, you imagined wrong. I was thinking of Diddy Kong only when I was watching the SMPJ part of the Nintendo Direct, not the Zelda part, the New 3D Mario part, the Metroid Prime 4 part, or any other parts. I was shocked that you'd think I'd be stupid enough to think that Diddy should be in the said games except for SMPJ and _Donkey Kong Country Returns HD_ . When I was watching the Direct, I was like, "Diddy Kong will obviously be in DKCR HD, but he has been absent in too many recent Mario Party, Mario Kart, and Mario Sports games already, and Donkey Kong has been too lonely in those games. That's sad. He needs Diddy to play along with him. If Diddy continues to be absent like this, then DK himself will deserve to be outside the DKC games no longer, and my life will never be worth it ever again."

The roster can only be so big. When I first played MK8DX at my friend's house I was just overwhelmed by the amount of characters, and that's not good.

@@TtimeXP My big thing is, if Ninji isn’t in the intro cut scene that shows “all the characters” that we saw in the trailer, it’s either a weird gag where they see him and are like “What are you?”, or there’s a multiple of unlockable characters. I lean towards a multiple of unlockable characters.

@@user-ey3ur4gb8g Oof, Hardcore disagree with that. Like, they were fine in MP9 and MP10, but they made the game feel too repetitive and there wasn’t a big enough variety of them. I think it’s best they came and went.
