Are you able to limit the charging through the app? To prevent Turo guests from charging up to 100%, since it harms the battery
@fiitv573 жыл бұрын
I feel like I've been bamboozled into doing Turo because people sugar coat it and hype it up. Maybe it used to be great once upon a time but not anymore, atleast not in my experience or in my area. I'm miserable and I hate all these irresponsible renters. I've had just about every car come back with damages, most the time the cars are in the shop getting repaired which can take days even weeks so now it's not on the field, 2 cars unlisted because they have recalls which can take up to 30 days to months, I have a vehicle going on 3 months now. If you rent on the side it's risky but you make all the profit, you have to get these cars rented out one way or another. Turo wants you to price your cars low when you start and let me tell you all my cars are fairly new 2015,2017,2019,2020, 2021 yet they want me to price them at $50 to $75 when they all should be rented at over $130 low and high $300s. By the time you have trips under your belt there's so much wear and tear on the cars you can't really price it at what's it's suppose to go for. Turo has a different insurance plans I'm on the highest one 85% profit for me 15% they take so they don't cover anything. Damages have to be over $2500 in order for them to help me and I usually have to work it out with the renter. If you're on the 60/40 plan you're not going to make anything but they will take care of your damages. They tell you to offer unlimited miles to attract more renters and the last time I did that, some f****** asshole put 8000 miles on my truck after they returned it, it was in the shop for a month! All it takes is one accident to wipe out all your earnings. My first trip I was on the 70 plan I had my Mercedes-Benz rented out at $75 for 4 days the total trip was $300 after turos cutt it was $210 NOT including uber drop off $20 + tip and to pick up for the return another $20 weekends the prices go up so I'm realistically at $188 in 4 days. HAH that's not all Turo wants you to give discounts 5%,10%, or 15% off their trips and suggest free delivery to again attract more renters but the max you can charge is $120 for pick up and return and turo takes a cut from that as well. I had a renter complain to me because I didn't offer delivery and she had to pay the uber $80 to pick up the car from me.. exactly why I don't deliver because $120 is not worth it mind you I'm in LA and she was coming from LAX. I need $100 each way in order for me to deliver. There's so much more that people don't talk about on youtube they make it seem likes it's all good and you're making 10k a month but how much are they really profiting? I made $7000 but $5800 went to car payments, insurance and expenses, I only profited $1200 that wasn't just from turo alone, it was from offsite rentals and Turo combined. They also want you to always be available 24/7 when you're new. I had some crazy rental times back to back 11:00 p.m. 12:00 a.m. then had to stay awake for the 3:00 a.m. rental and 5:00 a.m. I canceled because I couldn't stay up any longer, I was burnt out. You don't have a life when you do turo, so you have no choice but to do it full time it interferes with any and all appointments because renters are always late prepare yourself to sit in the car for 1-3 hours. I stopped going to the gym, seeing my friends and family because every time I tried to go to a family dinner, either on the way there I got booked and had to turn back around, after I just drove 20 minutes or while I'm there I get a booking and have to leave early. It really sucks and I'm dying inside -_- yes you could turn off" always available" and set your times but my times didn't work with the renters. I'm honestly making more profit on the side then renting my cars out on Turo. Overall it's very time consuming for very little return. My TESLA Model S never rented. In my area there was 54 of them because the model 3 came out it was over saturated even if it was upgraded, folks could rent it for half the price or cheaper $80 which really sucked. Come on girl keep it real Teslas S don't get 240 mile range I got 200 or max 219 pushing it before a notification appeared on the screen to lower the limit, which is the reason I sold it. I was grandfathered in so I didn't have to pay for charging but what's the point of charging when 70kw is the most anything above will burn the pin. 2 renters put it on 250 kw since they were impatient and wanted to use a super charger which is for emergencies and it made the screen go black along with the dashboard. You get a notification to unplug, just be aware before getting a model s -_- maybe x or y might do better but this car put a hole in pocket.

Absolute scam is what turo is and.all these monkeys online make it seem like it's free money which no consequences lol . I just rented my first Tesla this weekend and even though I knew I would be paying for supercharging, I was a little surprised at how much Tesla Supercharging actually ended up costing (~$90 for my trip of 700-800 miles after Turo fees and invoice taxes). It's almost not even worth renting an EV if supercharging is not included via turo, but I am still happy I did it once just for the Tesla autopilot experience. I am not really interested in making Turo a full time job or primary income, but I would be interested in using it to finance and pay for a car like a Tesla. Would you say Turo is a good option for someone who just wants to own a car that would be out of their price range on their own to make it pay for itself, or do you have any other insights on that mindset?
@brettbeatty2441 Жыл бұрын
For gas equivalent the cost of gas for 700-800 miles would have been $119-$133 so you still saved money over renting a gas car. Used math based on avg. gas prices and avg. mileage for when you posted this.

Whenever I would get notified of high speed I would always text the renter saying .. Hi you just drove by me on the expressway at an excessive speed, your safety and security are very important to me as well as your ability to enjoy the remainder of your rental period so please adhere to the posted speed limits from this point forward. The second would be Hi, my relative is a police officer who just radar timed you at blank speed and they were about to pull you over and ticket you until they recognized my car and they called me instead. Please adhere to the posted speed limits.. you received a break this time but the next time you may not be as fortunate. Thanks. If a Tesla with the FSD package (currently $10,000) gets totaled, will the Turo host insurance cover the replacement of this feature? This is an oddball case where the feature appreciates rather than depreciating.
@kelimanjaro10913 жыл бұрын
does not matter for Turo. They will reimburse you for the worth of the car and eventhough FSD makes the car appreciate in the future it does not now.
@rad05123 жыл бұрын
So does that mean they will pay out $10,000 if FSD was purchased in 2020 for $8,000 and the car is totaled this year when it's worth $10,000? I.e. will they cover the $2,000 that it has appreciated?
@kelimanjaro10913 жыл бұрын
@@rad0512 No they will look at how much the car was worth on the sale date and how much the car has decpreciated since that time in the market. Doesn't matter if FSD appreciates or not, the depreciation on the rest of the car will ALWAYS outperform the appreciation of an option. Making an option more expensive, doesn't mean your car will appreciate on the second hand market. I hope that makes sense? Tesla could sell it for $8,000 this year and then sell FSD for $80,000 the next year, but that doesn't matter if people can't afford the car on the seconhand market in the first place. A car always depreciates unless the car is unique. First lesson of regular car buying: a car ALWAYS depreciates.
@kjp81963 жыл бұрын
I got my tesla totaled and my acceleration upgrade was covered by insurance with little depreciation. They covered like $1900 or something+tax
@rad05123 жыл бұрын
@@kelimanjaro1091 I'd agree that hardware always depreciates, but that may not be the case for software that's being constantly improved. On the secondhand market people will pay whatever FSD is worth at that time, and it is possible for that increase in value to completely offset the depreciation of the hardware. It remains to be seen whether or not that will be the case for FSD.

Thanks Saimah, just to clarify. I am now adding another tracker to my Tesla, Trackmate. My tracker, tracki was overestimating speeds by 30%. I have updated the chill mode and speed limit setting to 100mph. I chose this number since it is a criminal offense to go over 30mph over the speed limit here in Florida. My goal is to limit my liability if I or my llc ever get named in a suit. I would hope my defense is that I have systems in place to show that I wasn't negligent as a host
