That comment by Wren at the end is why FM should be nervous. E.g. the floatwheel is a fully open platform, so it's catching up quickly. Once the software is figured out there's not much to stop trotter and others taking advantage of it and adding the extra power that the market wants. Good to see you showing the options are out there. Hope to see another collab with Mario sometime so maybe you can compare the floatwheel as well.

The OneWheel XR has been around for three years with an asking base price of $1,799 without any significant updates. This is unusual in the realm of motorized products and was one of the reasons potential buyers were hesitant in buying one in 2021. Future Motion should divert their legal budget in suing other companies and improve their product in a timely manner. Despite the number of shortcomings, Magwheel entering this specific market should shake things up. Come on FM, the average 14 miles range on the XR is ridiculous. Range anxiety is a real thing.

I have one of the first Magwheels in the states. I'm on the first controller and agree about the jerkiness, etc. I'm not an amazing rider, but I'm solid on trails with my Pint. Joe from IE rode my Mag on trails with me because I thought my Mag was broke. I couldn't keep up with him. The Mag takes different muscle memory and coming from a OW is a disadvantage if you try to go to a Mag. FM does have a secret sauce that makes their boards super smooth and I prefer them (because I need that compensation) but if the new Mag controllers catch up the Trotters are gonna be good competition for FM.
@juanrosado31253 жыл бұрын
Jimmy is attempting to mount this thing the same way he mounts the Onewheel, having the back side on the ground and the front side up. This works fine for the Onewheel because the sensors are on the front and as you mount and put presure on the front, it moves forward. The T3 has sensors in both the front and back and mounting the back foot first causes it to go on reverse as it engages. The best way to mount this T3 is opposite to the Onewheel, mounting the front foot first and then the back foot, this way it will always move forward when you mount. It takes time to get used to it, especially if you've been riding a Onewheel for a while.

@@thomasnguyen5295 you can mount it the way he says, but actually mounting it the other way is fine. I have a trotter and not a onewheel. The best way I've found to mount the trotter is to put the back foot on, and then use your front foot to give the board a little shove forward (as opposed to pushing down on the footpad like you do on a onewheel). Aim to push the board and your body 3-6" forward with the shove, and put your body weight into it. It will take this forward motion and use it to balance as it levels out. Doing that makes the mounting process MUCH smoother.

Would probably be a worth a revisit vs the GT looking at more than just out of box experience. Secret shopper it, test the support on both sides. Test how easy it is to solve problems yourself and then fix them. Does Trotter sell you parts? Do they lock firmware? Can they accurately diagnose a simple issue over the phone or email or do they FM it and ask you to ship it back to them blanking out the battery warning on the box. Stuff like that. Stuff people will experience if they have the 1k+ product for a sensible period of time (3+ years).

I use to have the older model trotter and upgraded to the pint but I have the inverse view, the trotter did like to start by reversing until I adjusted the level by holding the power but in motion it felt rock solid and responsive, the only issue I had was that the waterproofing was non existent so blew up a couple of controllers so decided to get the pint which was twice the price and learning to start the pint without it rushing off and burning it's tire because of the lack of a back sensor took a lot to get use too, I feel the trotter I got which was only £500 is a good starting board for those that want to test if it is for them but then upgrade if they like it, the pint I feel is a danger to people starting out as it is much harder to learn if you don't have someone to help but the pint is a more enjoyable ride

Hey Jimmy, it's the German guy who asked you to do a review of the Trotter ... two years ago. I'm glad to see that you finally gave it a shot :-) Considering countless comments of the past years that came down to mere 'knock-off' verdicts, I expected lots of condescending remarks on the Chinese competitor. Well, maybe the overall vibe about the FM monopoly has changed a bit since then. And maybe your channel attracts a different kind of audience. I don't have any experience with the 1500 watt T3 but it seems that the product still needs some refinement. Same phenomenon to be seen when new EUC's enter the market. And, in my opinion, the battery size for now doesn't match the appetite the bigger motor comes with. But being the happy owner of a 700 watt Trotter since 2017, I can assure everyone that the Trotter company builds devices you can count on. Apart from a battery upgrade from 4.4 Ah to 7 Ah [which a local expert did for me - without getting sewed or anything] my Trotter has remained in its original state. The tire e.g. looks just the way it did when I received it. And I ride offroad most of the time. I'm looking forward to see the evolution of the Trotter MAGwheel and I hope that the OneWheel community will keep an eye on it, too. It's good to have the freedom of choice, isn't it? Best wishes, Nordlicht.

I do not own a FM OneWheel, only road a Pint once, which was o.k. till I tried a pirouette and leaned too far in... took off the back foot ... the thing took off and dragged me down. Mounting my Trotter [I ride regular, so my right back foot is down] is buttery smooth, I can pretty much level it on a dime, stand still on it and go either way - as Jimmy put it in the video: just let it do its thing, get the hang of it, don't jerk around. When stopping, hopping off is best for me, front foot to the left, back foot to the right, Trotter stands upright in the middle. If the 1500 watt should generally fall to the closed side of the rim and beep immediately ... now that should be annoying.

What Bell helmet is that? Appears to have a removable chin bar? I ordered my first Onewheel (a Pint X) yesterday and getting gear... I ordered a cheap set on amazon of knee pads, elbow and wrist guards and helmet, but want a beefier helmet as well. I'm a motorcyclist too and debating just getting a dual sport helmet for a beefier option for the Onewheel and when I get a dual sport bike for offroading.

Hi, Im not from the US, the only one wheel available here is the magwheel T3. Are there any updates on the software during these 9months that improves the ride quality? I really would like to ride, would you recommend to get a magwheel?

@@Silver788PDX it's not Superior if you have to send it in every time you want to tire change battery change repair because it's not waterproof. And I find a product that's not actually owned by you Superior sounds pretty in inferior to me you have to buy a new one wheel GT every time something breaks on it. Due to the shipping cost not to mention some of the major shipping carriers won't even ship one wheel products anymore because they're so shady. I mean if you want to be that dumbass that bought fallout 76 or cyberpunk even after it was clear it was a broken product.

The Trotter guy makes it look smooth. I wont buy a trotter unless i can ride it first. I tried contacting him since im from Michigan. A few hours away from him. But he doesn't seem friendly or very informative. . . oh well. My xr is amazing. The most fun i ever had.
@cheeeeezewizzz2 жыл бұрын
It is smooth, if you practice and learn how to ride it. The trotter takes more technique and has a longer learning curve than the onewheel. You have to develop the muscle memory for it, but once you do it's plenty smooth. Imo the trotter is more similar to a skateboard than a onewheel is.

Now that was a very interesting review and comparison. Brave that another company has taken on OneWheel in a bizarre market area. It's different tech to the OneWheel which is awesome with the self levelling before it moves and cool to see the Trotter reinventing the (oh gawd.. its a bad pun..) *one* Wheel 🤣🤣😂😂 Thanks for sharing guys :)

I’m just happy to see that it’s cheaper… because in the world of electronic transporting devices electric unicycles electric bicycle electric skateboards etc….. for the same specs across-the-board everything is always been cheaper than one wheel….. better yet if it’s not equal it’s even better than one wheel. You can literally spend less money get more range more speed on anything else.

Yeah the onewheel is easier to ride, but anything other than curb nudges (the way the trotter tries to stay flat all the time makes those really hard to do) you can learn to do on the trotter. It just takes more technique and muscle memory than a onewheel.

How to make it clear you either don't know what you're talking about and/or you don't know how to explain yourself. Tuning an engine/motor is not going to have an effect on how soft the suspension is.

@@freshlycharged Good review Jimmy, but... Think of a trotter as EUC in terms of balancing algorithm and try lowering the tyre pressure a bit. Tyre takes more round shape when over inflated and starts rubbing against the foot plates and makes it over correct little balance corrections. That should resolve the jitter issue. I'm 200 lbs running ~ 26 psi and haven't had any jitters on T3. The ones in the video look quite bad. Also if you get the hang of mounting, you can push the board to level like you do with FM onewheel, you don't need to wait for the board to level itself. Keep up the good content and will be waiting for the KS S20 review :p

Try getting on the opposite way.Meaning nose down position to mount.

That makes a lot of sense. So the levelling action starts moving you forward, you could actually take off faster than a onewheel.

I wouldn't pay more than 500$ for a one wheel made by any manufacturer. Anything above that price range basically beats it in power and battery size( EUC's, e-bikes, scooters, etc). There is really no where to evolve with the one wheel design as the board itself limits possible battery capacity. Earlier this year I bought a Mten3(67v,420wh, with Nikola pedals) for 600$. It goes faster, up and down steeper inclines, and farther than my friends XR that cost three times the price. I ended up buying another EUC(2500w, 1600wh MSX) for $1600 new which is still cheaper than the XR's and just blows them completely out of the water. The price and what you get is just not comparable. I like riding one wheels, because it's like surfing in the air, but the price is just crazy.
@freshlycharged3 жыл бұрын
You are preaching to the choir! Love my EUCs!
@donnyh34973 жыл бұрын
Back when I bought my first onewheel I researched all of the options in hopes that a cheaper version would be adequate. It quickly became apparent that there really was no competition and if I wanted to shred pavement with the feel of other board sports I had to put up the cash for the real thing. There is a reason that they cost a lot. The technology in a onewheel is wayyyyy ahead of the curve. Imagine trying to drop off curbs while doing over 10 mph on a trotter😆. You would get enough airtime to log in your logbook!
@cheeeeezewizzz2 жыл бұрын
I do drop off curbs at 10mph on my trotter....it's fine. It just takes more technique than doing it on a onewheel. Because the controller isn't as good as the onewheel controller your body control has to be better to do it. But because you learn on the trotter and practice on it, you naturally develop the technique necessary to do it. The only thing that you really can't do is curb nudges. I've been trying and I can't get it to work, because the trotter attempts to stay perfectly level and has very little give in the up and down tilt of the board. That makes curb nudges really hard to pull off. But curb drops just take a little practice and you are good.
