I carried an HK P30 all year. Until I purchased a P30L. Unless I were to find myself out in the wild. Then it's my Smith model 29-3 in .44 mag. Might I suggest looking at the HK P30SK? The p30 line is a hammer fired DA/SA with a decocker. They're incredibly comfortable to hold. I highly recommend the line.

I very much concur with your views and requirements for a carry gun. The one that I completely trust is the .380 Ruger LCP Max. In addition to your specs, it has a front night sight,10 round magazine and there is also a 12 round option. I also have a Viridian green laser laser mounted on it for poor light situations and/or hip shooting. I use a Vedder hard shell pocket holster because it very concealable, completely covers the trigger, and has a thumb push edge that ensures a safe and easy draw from my right front pocket. The ammo that is most accurate and expands the best for me is Hornady Critical Defense. I'm 71 years old. have arthritis, wear trifocal glasses, and I am a retired USAF Bands MSgt and a retired middle school band director in the Albuqureque NM area.

I have been carrying two original LCPs .380 pistols as of late for similar reasons. Hammer fired, no manual safety, no magazine disconnect, just added Hogue grips to both and 13 pound recoil springs and stainless steel guide rods. Oh, and got two factory 7 round magazines so each gun holds 8 rounds total. If I feel the need for more gun I typically go to my Glock 27 or Glock 22 but one of the LCPs is always with me. Previously it was a snubby .38 special or .357 magnum but lately the duel .380s are my go to.

Hi Mark, I love your videos. I wanted to share my experience with my 2 SW Body guards. One had the green laser and one had a red laser. I loved the green one the most. BUT in two years of each other I ended up sending them both back to SW as the magazine eject button is made the same polymer that the frame is made from and there is a small slot on the magazine that that plastic button clicks into to hold the magazine into the gun and both guns had the same problem and the button would wear down so bad that after a few hundred rounds the magazine would self eject when you fired the gun and you would have to reload a new mag or reset. Either way I could no longer trust them so I sold both of my SW,s and I bought the Ruger LCPII and it is almost the very same gun but the ejector button is made of steal and it wont spit out the magazine when you need it the most. Food for T=thought keep up the good work that you do. Mike,..........

unless i"m on the trail or have the rifle for training, all I carried for the past 5 years has been the little Sig P938, in a front pants pocket holster. On the trail, I also take the silenced M21 Beretta, in rip to open velcro butt pack, worn at the navel. Rarely, when something calls for a rifle, the silenced 10.5" AR goes along, in 223, with 60 gr Nosler Partiion softpoints and 60 gr Aquila subsonic 22 ammo The only other gun that I own is an alloy framed variant of the 1911, in 9mm. That's the practice-gun, so that I dont wear out the little Sig. I have a 3" barreled version of the 22 unit for the Sig, too When I shoot the Sig, maybe 100 rds per year, it's with wussy handloads, 125 gr lrn at 700 fps. I dont want to have to replace that $700 pocket gun for a VERY long time.

I get liking hammer fired guns I really like them myself, but the new bodyguard is far superior to the old one, especially when you consider how often the old bodyguards would have issues with light primer strikes, and the additional capacity, literally double the mag capacity with the 12 round mags.

For me the most carried would be my little lcp max 75th. Super easy to conceal I pocket carried it all summer. It doesn’t have a manual safety but it has a trigger safety and it’s a pretty heavy pull and in a pocket holster it comes with I’m comfortable it’s not going off. I am the same way I prefer da/sa guns. I only own one striker fired pistol it’s a cz p10s and it lives in my get home bag and a spare mag I have it with me every day. So I guess it would be my second most carried though it’s not on my person. It’s a great pistol in just about all regards and it’s not a super expensive pistol so it it was lost or stolen it’s not the end of the world.

I absolutely agree with the double action trigger. Also like you with the P320 I just don't feel 100% safe with my 365 as it has the same FCU as the 320 only smaller. And since we are on the topic of Sig one of my absolute favorite carry guns is the Sig P290RS in both 380 and 9mm. It's very sad sig gave up on this platform and went to the 365. I would have loved to seen something like the 365s 10rd mag in the P290rs. And when it comes to racking the slide. It is the silkiest easiest slide I've ever slid back. The Springfield XDE in 9mm and 45 ACP is another discontinued firearm which was an awesome firearm that is DA/SA with decocker like Beretta 92 or 84. Being that it came in 45 they should bring it back in 10mm. Thought 45 super will work in the 45. Great video. I feel like these hammer fire DA at least on the first shot. Are the safest pistols to carry.

Having any gun is very important. There was a time when i carried a heritage roughrider 22 lr revolver because it's all I had at the time. That said I have nothing against a 380 as I know it's capable. The only knock I have with it is that is not as powerful as 9mm but 380 ammo costs more that 9mm ammo on the average. I carried a full size Taurus g3 this last year, and the year before. But recently i bought back a Taurus g2c i had sold to a friend and switch between it and the g3 now. The extra weight of the g3 isn't and issue for me. I just cannot justify carrying a less powerful gun but for more money, to me it just isn't economically sensible for me, but to each his own. On another hand if someone were to gift me a 380 I'm not about to turn down a free gun lol, and it would be pocket or ankle carried as a backup.

I agree with you on the striker fired guns. I don’t like them.

Been carrying a 38 special snubby for years. Half the blueing is worn off. Have beenn thinking of upgrading to a small 9mm, more for capacity than anything else. Thing is though, I know this little revolver. When I get up in the morning it goes on my hip. Go to the toilet or take a shower it is within reach. At night it lives in its hidy hole. Often I forget it is on me, so used I am to it. It is good out to 25 yards for me at most, but sure there are people could get more out of it. Draw it, pull the trigger and it goes bang. Need a more precise shot and you cock back the hammer. So the only drawback is capacity, which I may one day need living out on a farm.

I carried a j frame and still do sometimes. I started carrying a micro 10rd 9mm because it was easier and faster for me to take more precise shots on a hostage target, for example. I am not good enough to make good hits on a hostage target at 10yds with my j frame, but I am with a sig 365.

Top notch choices by far, I can tell you are an experienced concealed carrier, forget all the new nonsense with optics and lights and all that BS, this is what it's all about.

You're the only DAO-only fan I know of! DA/SA is by far more popular, and that's my fave. To each their own...
