On the spinning setup, could you use 10lb braid with a 6 or 7 foot, 10lb fluorocarbon leader? Or could you go straight 10lb braid if you color a few feet black with a sharpie?

I would use and do use Fl as a leader. If your in muddy water no need for Fl but if you've got 2ft of vis leader all the way.

Really nice video. For years, I have been throwing an All-Terrain Rock Jig/5" Hula Grub combo. BUT, I gotta tell you I recently switched to a Strike King Bitsy FLIP jig/Zoom Speed Craw. I'm telling you I have caught nothing buy WHALES on this combo. Give it a shot. I had a tourney this past Saturday and lost probably and 6-7#er. It was a LUNKER tourney and I lost sleep over not being able to weigh this fish in. A 6.00# won. Dang, would have been close. Good fishin'....
@BassGeek4 жыл бұрын
Dang I would say so! Nice combo.
@computerguy17244 жыл бұрын
Give it a shot if you get a chance. Be sure to buy the SK Bitsy FLIP the hook is amazingly different. It is a beautiful combo. I tossed out on a rock rubble bank with a slight shoreline bump out and work it down to about 22fow when I felt a rock and walked it over and as the jig fell I felt her slam it and my line just started pulling away from me. I set the hook and fought her for about 20 seconds. My partner had the net and I looked down about 8 feet and saw her roll....brother, she was an absolute MULE. Have to admit it threw me off for the rest of the day. Water temp was 41deg.

What would you use on mud bottom with lots of wood? I've been throwing the 6th Sense swim jigs because the way the head is made they will stand up. Also, going tomorrow to get my new to me boat !!!
@BassGeek4 жыл бұрын
What type of wood. Standing timber, brush piles? That's when I go the arkie style jig.
@N5KDA4 жыл бұрын
@@BassGeek Brush piles, a little standing timber and lots of stumps. The lake was made by damning up two small creels that went through a very wooded area. There are lots of stumps and tree tops that were left after the area was logged. When I say a ton of wood, we are talking about a lure eater. However, its where the last two state records came from. Now the slot is 18 - 22 inches. Current record is 18.15 and during an electrical survey one larger than that was tagged. let me get the boat set up and I'll take you out.
@N5KDA4 жыл бұрын
@Stoney Lonsome I try to stay just off the bottom by using 1/2 ounce swim jigs with trailers. I bump the bottom a little just to know I'm close to bottom. It still causes me to fish a little faster than I like. I do under spins the same way.
@robertbrost77774 жыл бұрын
Hey Hank. Happy New Year to ya! Question, if I'm fishing a small to medium pond/lake and, I begin with a jig, and they aren't interested, have I blown up the whole lake/pond for that session? Say they want a finesse TRD or small worm/tube/grub? Have I blown my chance to catch those fish by scaring them away with the first lure? I feel like if I don't choose the right lure, the lure they want, right off the bat the fish know I'm there and it's over. Thanks bud! BTW, passing on that expo. Too far for an expo plus, it's part salt water too. Not my gig. LOL
@BassGeek4 жыл бұрын
Check out the Knoxville expo it might be closer and it's a massive bass fishing expo. No you have not blown the bass out. You may have moved them. They may follow a bait can come off a spot but they will generally go back. Make a few casts to a spot change baits and repeat. Move for a few minutes say 30min. and then try a new bait on that spot. It's like a follow up bait when we are frogg'n or even when I'm running a swimbait through a school. They may not want the big swimbait they may want a small jig.
@robertbrost77774 жыл бұрын
@@BassGeek Thanks. And Knoxville is even further from NJ. But, if it's a Bass fishing expo, then that's up my alley. Gonna have to look that one up.
