You read my mind Xavier! I still want a SD QP in that bass! A few people have said the same ... I'll have to serious think about it!

I liked the sound of that first exercise, nice and consistent and I’m sure that with the right notes you can write some cool riffs with that

Thanks Andrew! If you do write some Riffs I'd like to hear that!

The Fender Aerodyne! Smooth as a stealth fighter! I love it.

I too have used these exercises for a long time. Only difference is, I start up the neck, letting my gradually fingers stretch out from the start. Cheers.

The top of the neck is a good place to start!

Good call! I been doing it for years and still sloppy! Haha.

These remind me of "Left hand permutations" exercise that I've been doing in various combinations for about 6-7 years now, to a click track. They definitely did some good for my left hand, yet I always felt there were too much permutation variants, and you'd be bored endlessly if you try to complete all of them in one sitting 😅 So now I'll try your method Alfie, thank you for sharing!

I've been playing since the 70's and thats a great warm-up that I'll use. I also own the Aerodyne and its my go-to. Sounded great with the stock pups but I swapped them out for SD Quarter Pounds and now it sounds like a roaring lion.

Thanks Nick! I hope it helps you in the long run! You read my mind about the Aerodyne, I hate the pickups, far too quiet. I too am thinking about SD quarter pounders. Good call! Have you tried anything else or swear by the SD?

@@WhichBass I use the Quarterpound P in one of my basses. A total facemelter, highly recommended

Nice1 Alfie. That spider run is a bit of a mind melt. I learnt a great one from Dave LaRue ( not in person I'll add), 1234 fingers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th fret on E, down one string and up one fret..same thing. When you get to the last note you reach on G in that pattern...up one fret and backwards....and repeat. Also say the name of the notes out load to yourself. Quite tricky.
@WhichBass2 жыл бұрын
Oh blimey Brian, that sounds like a harder version of the Spider. Is this something you do every day?!

@@WhichBass God no! I get lost at about 3rd fret and give up.

I know it’s not the bass rig series but I’ve been wanting to see Dick Lövgren’s (Meshuggah)rig for a good while now on any bass channels. Please?

I practice playing odd time accents by playing my phone number as time.. So 9/8, 5/8 ,4/8 6/8 ... Etc.. Its fun because to yourself, its already memorized, but to a listener, its like physics. It also develops your brain to zone out, while counting, so I would practice your runs , but in that time
@WhichBass2 жыл бұрын
Wow that sounds mind bending and very cool! I think that would be useful if you were training your ear to play in a new time sig.
