Update: Tilta now makes a cage for the R3. To my hands it feels better, especially the main right side grip, also a bombproof looking set up that feels much more secure. Again thanks for the video!

I just ordered the cage, might just saw off the two rear parts, making up the side arca mount, so the screen has more room to swivel.

Good video. If you don't use the vertical arca-swiss mount, just cut off the two ears on the split open side and it will solve your mic/headphone jack issue as well. This won't weaken it at all. Just my opinion and what I'd do if I was in this situation.

Might probably do just that. Tho gotta make sure it’s sanded down properly

Thanks. Did you see also the Tilta R3 case?

I actually don't find it comfortable to hold. Every other time I've used a cage ( Kondor Blue , 8Sinn) felt good in my hands. I find this adds too much bulk under your right hand and it's more difficult to grip. The R3 existing grip is great and I find this takes away form it.

I have been using this cage for 18 months. Just tried connecting a remote shutter trigger (canon tc-80n3) with the N3 terminal located on the front below the lens and unfortunately the cage gets in the way and there is absolutely no way to connect the cable without removing the cage. Tx for your review!

Great vid. Hey, what’s that lens thingy you have attached to the camera? I’ve seen those before but, don’t really know what that is. Thanks! 🙂

Thanks! Ah, you mean the body cap? It’s a Kondor Blue body cap. Link to it is in the description

Coming back to this video again and after listening to your dislikes about the cage, you can use a Dremel tool and cut parts of the cage to make it more accommodating. 👍🏾
