10:27 theres actually some kind of weird quirk with Gold Source viewmodels, where the FOV is permanently long or something, so they actually modelled Half Life's weapons to be short, and fan out at the ends so they look normal from the back but are like, ridiculously proportioned. This is most apparent with the HL1 357 and shotgun, where it looks like a cartoon gun with a giant trumpeted barrel from the side, looks fine, big and powerful from the back, but is silly from the side which is also why the animations never point the gun sideways. Its why backwards porting HL2 weapons to HL1 always looks weird. You can also find this method used on the classic SMOD K98 bolt action rifle, the barrel is ridiculously large but looks fine from the shooter's perspective.
