I don't think this is really the case. A situation that I've experienced personally that goes quite against the poisoning of the well. For context, I'm 6'5 blue eyes and quite attractive, and I approached this girl at this bookstore I liked while I was out with my friend. The interaction went really well, and even my friend remarked how happy she sounded. And later as we are leaving some guy who works there sternly lectures me about how I must stop talking to girls at the bookshop, how he's seen me do it before, girls come here to look at books not be approached and other ramblings. Me and my friend were super surprised, as we thought the girl must have reported me or something. Anyways I message her later and ask what happened, and she explained how the guy working there had literally told her that I had approached other girls here, basically trying to scare her away for some odd reason, and she basically laughed it off and said doesn't care. We messaged for a bit and did end up going out, so it basically had no effect on her, even the very negative slander the guy working there said about me, this was in UK as well btw, there seems to be a trend of that country kicking down it's men that try to talk to women. Happened to me :) When I watched Fresh and Fit videos (not a fan) their female guests attempted to pound into the male hosts' heads that cheating was a turn-off.
