That metaphor about our life story being like pages in a book is mind-blowing! All pages are present in the now, but we can only read them one page at a time given our mind’s limited capacity. This is somehow liberating to me, in that I often find myself trying to hold onto memories, sometimes inducing a panic that I’ve forgotten something. But how reassuring to know that they’re all still there in earlier pages. There is nothing you need to hold onto. As a side note, this also explains how one reviews a life story after they die.. it’s all still there

Time, the most influential narrative that both religion and science use to "prove" their take on reality confirming their stand as apparent holders of ultimate truth and authority. But take time away and what's left? Pure reality, aka consciousness unfolding itself as experiences. 🙏🏾

_The Physical Brain & Nervous System _*_Limits_*_ what we are capable of directly Observing. Memory & Experiences _*_Shape_*_ our Perception._ Newborn babies simply observe...they don't perceive...yet...Perception *follows* Observation. Observation is the real & true State of Learning...Perception interrupts and twists incoming data, this is why if one wants to *properly learn* about a newly discovered specie of creature, one visits its local area to OBSERVE the creature... *not Perceive* the creature. There *IS* a memory and an experiential component that most definitely shapes Perception. Perception is not a Still, Open and Learning State of Mind like Observation is... Rupert's parsing of the concepts of Time and Space however is ....simply & utterly BRILLIANT.

A questionalble conclusion would be to think that the exact novel is complete and present (5:42 onward) on a level that the mind can't access. We cannot accurately postulate that the illusion is already complete in timelessness since timelessness is real - it doesn't come or go. Illusion (the novel - the story) happens when timelessness releases or expresses its potential as a streaming of dream activity that includes the appearing of time. In nondual seeing, the timeless is all there is. The appearing of time is seen as well but as an illusion. It is seen that time is not. It is seen that it desperately tries to appear to be. Time, together with the appearing novel, is only taken for real by minds that are conditioned and blinded by the exact same dream activity.

Here and now is also everywhere and always. This can only be experienced by pure awareness. To the intellect this is an irreconcilable contradiction. Probably the same is true for the location (identification) of "I".
@openrealm
@openrealm 6 жыл бұрын
curiosity saved the cat Yes, I guess you're right that it is always now at every possible location, if that's also part of what you meant. I'm curious as to why one's awareness doesn't begin to more and more be simultaneously aware of more than one location at once the more this direct observation begins to take hold. I mean, I'm aware that you're reading this on a flat screen wherever you are, and I'm also aware of the space that is two inches in the air in front of your screen, perhaps a phone, but it seems that more direct observation should be available. Does this make sense?
@curiosity_saved_the_cat
@curiosity_saved_the_cat 6 жыл бұрын
Open Realm Ultimately the idea that awareness is divided into different units of awareness being aware of different locations might be an illusion to begin with. Just like when a cloth with many small holes in it covering a lightbulb, might give the impression there are many lights shining through, when in fact it's the same light shining through many holes. So ones awareness is in fact simultaneously aware of all locations. However, more or less in the same way your left eye is unaware of what your right eye is seeing, you are unaware of what I am seeing - still we are one all-seeing 'individual' (the same way your eyes and you are indistinguishable). From the perspective that you and I are different individuals we have to rely on empathy and other forms of prediction to become aware of another perspective. You're aware of your prediction of what my screen looks like and the fact that there's air in front of it, since it's unlikely that I'm watching on a crt monitor underwater. Not of my actual screen, I would say. Maybe in the future it's possible to see another perspective through means of telepathy or astral projection as we become more evolved, perhaps some already have this skill.
@openrealm
@openrealm 6 жыл бұрын
curiosity saved the cat Yes, I've been thinking about your comment the last two days, and have been coming to know this same perspective you describe. About telepathy, that's absolutely a real and true thing, and I really think we're somehow on the verge of that opening up. I'm sure you've had the experience, whether or not you've labeled it as such. Have a look at the short 3 minute San Francisco video in case you're interested in an example, as I have been fortunate enough to film that sort of thing at least a dozen times these past few years. Actually unfortunate perhaps, because it has since made my life astoundingly difficult and has been very painful in an intangible way that's hard to describe.

I mean parallel? What science refers to parallel universe? I heard a few enlightened beings like osho confirming it. rafia aziz I think this might be similar to the experience of dying at which point some NDEs have reported seeing their entire life flash before them. The mind does not have the capacity to understand this. I think something else sees that, not our minds.

A newborn infant does have memory, memories are stored within every cell of our body, part of DNA the fabric of physical being. A turtle hatches, unconscious memory stored in cells, takes its tiny feet scuttling towards the ocean to apparent safety, no thinking involved. Unconscious thought is directing 90% of all actions. The ego, believes it is directing the traffic/thoughts of our life in the now. Perception without ( thought “ego”) is possible, babies operate that way until habit memories stored as unconscious seeds are watered by parents and society's habits, over riding our true nature. The Buddha called the infants view of life "as happening by itself", or "things in themselves".

There is a deep misunderstanding of the concept of time underlying to this. Saying that time exists does not mean that the past is something you can go to. Spira committed a strawman fallacy there. Time is a concept that helps make sense of understanding what happens. When you experience things for a while, you cannot help but notice that not everything is random. Events happen with certain regularities. And more than that: The better you understand those regularities, the more you can make use of them, and the more this helps you being successful with pretty much anything that you can try to achieve. You will notice that when apples fall from trees, you usually first see the apple attached to the tree, then it is slightly below the tree, and ever faster it approaches the ground. Finally, the apple hits the ground, rolls around, and finally stops moving. Without a concept of time, this would be impossible to describe. And our model of reality, and by extension the whole body of natural sciences, is full of such observations and descriptions. Think of medicine. How would you describe the results of a clinical trial without the concept of time? You could not describe what happened after some of the patients took the drug, because there would be no "after". If forced to describe the results of such a study with only the concept of "now" and nothing else, it would simply be impossible. When no studies can be described, they cannot be acknowledged or rejected, and nothing can be learned from them. Therefore, most of our medical drugs would not exist, which would have costed billions of human lives. Even when Spira asks his rhetorical questions that begin like "Can you find ...", he uses the concept of time. Because finding is a process, where first you have not found something, then you are doing something specific, and then there comes a state where you have found it. Many of Spira's statements and questions make use of the concept of time in such a way. So Spira is making his life easier in a way, by ignoring a simple concept that raises very inconvenient, complex questions. He simply chooses to pretend it does not exist. And it truly gets more complex than that: When things move at very high speeds, or are subject to a big gravitational force, time can stretch. This has been proven. GPS satellites need to take this effect into account regularly and correct their internal clocks. If they would not do that, GPS would become more and more unreliable already after a short time. Relativity is a factor there, and the effects of it are as close to you as your mobile phone. This shows that time is much more substantial. It is not just a concept, but there is something in actual reality that it corresponds to. Even if that is not immediately visible, or a place that you can go to. But we know that there are things that one can do which influence the passage of time. Time can pass at different speeds in different places. But of course, this does not influence our direct experience. For the matter of what we experience, time is important as a concept, independent from the question if it physically exists or not. It helps us structure observations, make predictions, and continue existing more successfully. When Spira went to this event where this video was recorded, he did not come 1 month late or 2 days early. He came roughly at the same time as the others. How could he do that, if the concept of time does not exist? Right now, he is not at this place where the video shows him. How can that be, when everything is just now?
@Stratton218
@Stratton218 5 жыл бұрын
Matthias J. Déjà he wasn’t arguing against the existence of the concept of time. He actually alluded to that in the beginning of the vid. He was arguing about whether or not it was real in and of itself and its relationship to consciousness. I think he said it best when he explained that Time seems to exist only from the limited perceptual ability of our finite minds.

If you listen to the message properly you would find out that he put what you are saying into perspective by discribing that what seems as time are events unfolding in the face of awareness these events are continuous illusions but only seems to be real but only awareness "the eternal observer" is real the only thing that exists.

This is an invitation to see a theory on the nature of time! In this theory we have an emergent uncertain future continuously coming into existence relative to the spontaneous absorption and emission of photon energy. Within such a process the wave particle duality of light and matter in the form of electrons is forming a blank canvas that we can interact with forming the possible into the actual! The future is unfolding with each photon electron coupling or dipole moment relative to the atoms of the periodic table and the individual wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. As part of a universal process of energy exchange that forms the ever changing world of our everyday life the ‘past’ has gone forever. At the smallest scale of this process the ‘past’ is represented by anti-matter annihilation with the symmetry between matter and anti-matter representing the symmetry between the future and the past as the future unfolds photon by photon. In such a theory the mathematics of quantum mechanics represents the physics of ‘time’ with the classical physics of Newton representing processes over a period of time, as in Newton’s differential equations. In my videos I explain how this process is relative to temperature and the phase changes of matter.

The two are one in many ways we have electrical activity relative to the structure of the brain forming chemical changes or reactions. Chemical energy is stored in the bonds that hold the atoms together. When the bonds form and break we have the continuous exchange of photon energy with the future unfolding relative to the electrical activity and the structure of the brain. Conscious awareness is formed by this electrical potential that is always in ‘the moment of now’ in the centre of its own reference frame. It is this personalization of the brain being in ‘the moment of now’ in the centre of its own frame of reference that gives us the concept of ‘mind’ with each one of us having our own unique personal view of the Universe and the uncertainty of life. Consciousness is always in the forefront of creation or the creative process therefore each individual is able to look back in time in all directions from their frame of reference at the beauty of the stars. It is a common believeth that we live and die over a period of time, but in this theory the atoms of the periodic table form their own space time as part of a universal process of continuous creation. The flow of Time as a process of continuous energy exchange and our consciousness as a continuous stream of unbroken ever-changing flow of ideas, feelings! dreams! hopes! perceptions! and emotions are interlinked. There is one physical process that could explain this and that is, if the Universe is based on a universal process of spherical symmetry forming and breaking relative to the atoms of the periodic table. Such a process would naturally form entropy or disorganization with the potential for ever greater symmetry formation that we see in the diversity of life and in modern electronics. The prime example of this is photon energy cascading down from the Sun forming greater degrees of freedom for entropy or disorganization and also greater degrees of freedom for the complexity and diversity of plant life.

Each one of us is in the moment of now in the centre of our own reference frame with our own personal view of the Universe. The future is unfolding relative to the energy and momentum of our actions. Therefore we see and feel the future coming out of the moment of now rather than the past. Nothing highlights this more than the fact that each one of us can look back in time in every direction at the beauty of the stars. In this theory the future is unfolding relative to the eye and hand of the beholder.

I usually really enjoy RS but listening to him today really shocked me. He claims that animals don't remember or think! What a lot of .........is this? How does that statement fit into his philosophy and what are his observation skills when it comes to non-human beings? Very strange!!! How very sad!
