These 1930s Harleys look so much better than bikes made today that it's painful.

Definitely! Matt and his late father Dale, may God rest his soul, were and are great American motorcycle historians and possess great knowledge of how they work and how to rebuild, restore and repair these priceless machines.

These videos about motorcycles from the 20s and 30s are so interesting, as Harleys of that time had quite a strong position here in Finland, too. H-D was actually one of the most common motorcycles in Finland in the 20s and the 30s. "Most common" of course in the context that the country/market was quite small, but there were hundreds of them on the road during the period 1920-1939 (and there are quite a few left, too). H-D:s were used by police and the army. The V-twin was the most common, but the army had also a dozen of the Model W Sport Twins, 600 cc boxers (1919-1923). None of those survived, as far as I know. The big H-D customer was the forest industry. The bikes were used in forests that could not be reached by cars, as there were no roads. They were used by to map areas to be logged, document logging projects and doing business with those who owned forests. In winter these forest industry Harleys pulled big sleds (some of these can be found in museums), as much of the logging projects took place during the winter. Some Harleys were of course bought for other purposes, but they were few. Some were used in long endurance races, which were quite rough in Finland, but the H-D:s did quite well. PS. One of our presidents never had a drivers' license for car, but drove a Harley in the 1920s.

People have been personalizing their motorcycles for as long as there have been motorcycles. Beautiful bike. The art deco style is evident in the 30’s era Harleys. My opinion, I don’t care for the latest Harley models. I’ve added visiting Wheels through Time to my bucket list.

Look at this one of a kind Harley Davidson silver paint!! It's the only shade of silver like it in existence. A worker in the harley factory only shit it out for two days and half of that batch was lost in a 1933 fire. Someone was huffing the silver paint and smoking cigarettes at the same time. After the fire a midget who worked for Harley found a half of a pint of the paint. Ultra rare, one of a kind, and scammed from some unsuspecting soul so it could be here in the museum.
