Gotta get on a MARC train and see one of these bad boys
@taxesv1nce142 Жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure Amtrak has already converted there’s to cab cars actually. Hopefully we’ll start seeing them sometime on the Downeaster or Keystone.

If Amtrak gets rid of a portion of the ACS64's MARC should really capitalize on that.

I'm hoping we do, its a travesty that marc runs diesel trains on the NEC

love the futuristic look of these

I think this looks like a 1990s version inspired by the PRR GG-1 and some style of that Acela.

Double face, that is all, but it's still futuristic looking and I love them@@295g295

I saw these at Baltimore Penn yesterday

I heard a major ousse woth them is they had bad power to traction ratio. So sometimes when they started moving, the wheels wouldn't grip properly, while rhe horsepower was so high that the tracks were practically being sawed to death by wheelslip.

How many does MARC own and have in service??

6 currently

Get them while they're warm. First true streamlined electric locomotives after GG1s and actually very good looking, unlike the ugly City Sprinters.

If there were still electrified freight trains in the US, they could be used for that. 8000hp x2 should be sufficient for most consists lol

Isn’t Amtrak planning to remake them as cab cars? What happened to that?
@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis Жыл бұрын
I’m guessing it got delayed. I’m reminded of the Metra SD70MACH program, which took longer than anticipated, although those are finally showing up.

ALC-42 for sure. It’s a shame they’ve had so many issues lately

@@WorldwideRailfan wow that's a shock. Because your profile picture very clearly shows NPCU 406. But that's cool. The ALC42 is absolutely my favorite Amtrak locomotive too, and it always has since 300 was first completed
