I never understood the concept of back ups. The only thing I buy back ups of are things I fly through like hairspray and face wash. This is a great video. I just subscribed!

Yeah I have backups on my hair oil, but only because I happened upon a Ricky's that was closing and everything was 70% off. I do go through it pretty quickly, so I allowed myself to get a few.

That hit hard when you said "how much hours is it costing you for said item". My cart is filled with mostly skincare (large sizes that came out for the holiday and gift sets). I try to focus on that so I have items to last me (thus preventing from buying in between sales). I stopped buying backups (its truly money just sitting there bc of how long it takes to finish up the existing product). My cart is at a decent price, but I'm going back over it again to make sure there's nothing excess & taking stock again on my current stash. This was food for thought, major thank you for this video. Such a great video. I do always look forward to the VIB sale in order to save a bit on something that I was going to buy anyway or have had my eye on for a while, but I always forget that VIB only gets 15% in the fall sale. Most of the typical VIB recommendation videos out there tout the 20% discount, but most of us aren't spending thousands of dollars for Rouge status. That quick realization of having a lesser status than most beauty vloggers brings me right back down to earth and further discourages me from browsing during the sale. If I'm doing any shopping during this sale, it'll just be to replace my farmacy cleansing balm and CT powder, which I'm running out of and are never on sale anywhere else. While they're both hefty in price, they're decisions I thought of ahead of time, are within my budget at the moment, and know I won't regret since they are both staples. Thanks for reminding me to stay conscious and certain with my financial decisions, especially with the holiday season fast approaching. I hope you continue to come out with similar videos close to black Friday as well.

@@BetterwithPhoebe I'd love to know how to spot genuine sales that are Black Friday only, and the ones that are just hype to get you to spend money at that time. For example, I'm in the market for a new laptop and because I'm looking for something specific, I know how much to expect to pay and if it happens to be on sale at the time, I'll know I'm getting a deal one way or another. But without having done research ahead of time, it's easy to get duped and feel like you have to buy something right there and then, when in reality, it'll be on sale at another time too. Any tips to get ahead of the sale hype would be much appreciated 😊

QUESTION: How do you feel about the Sephora Play box subscription? Every month after I receive my box, I just want to cancel, but then I tell myself...NEXT month will contain better items.

I had it for a little under a year and ultimately cancelled. It's just not great for deep skin or black hair. Every month, I'd get at least two items that weren't suitable. $10 isn't much, but it's real money. Cancel it now. See if you miss it in three months. If you do, it'll still be there for you to resubscribe.

I'm in the same boat. I only have one makeup item on my list. I'm considering the DE fridge too. I haven't spent very little of my beauty budget this year so I have room for it financially. I know exactly where I would put the fridge and the products. But I'm waiting to see if it sells out before the sale begins. If it's there, then it's meant to be. I recently started doing project pan. HOLY SH*T products take a looooong time to finish. Like I apply lip gloss twice a day and used up a mere 2% over 1 week. 2%! That means it's gonna take a WHOLE YEAR of using the same damned lip gloss every single day to finish it. Scary af. I'm ashamed to have Rouge status all the way to the end of 2020.

Yeah I'm panning my foundations, but I'd never try to pan anything else. I think it would suck the joy out of applying makeup. Following panners makes me more excited to use what I have though. Can I also say, don't be ashamed to be Rouge. You made those choices, yes. Maybe they were financially responsible in your context, maybe they weren't. But shame is not a constructive emotion. It makes us feel bad about ourselves. It makes us hide. Don't feel shame about your money choices. Regret, sure. But not shame. Shame is bad for the soul.

4:43 - I'm guilty of this one. I bought two, not one, but two powder foundation backups but guess what? My sunscreen game has been on point that I have a lighter complexion. I ended up with two foundation powders that I knew I was no longer going to use. I gave one away and I managed to sell the other one. So, I don't feel too bad. Never again. It's not worth buying backups.
