Yes, I'm totally with you on the camera and the subject matter. I've still got my Canon G10 which I bought new years ago. It still works great. Even if I ignore it for a year, I get it out and the battery is still fully charged. I took one of my shots ever with this camera. I'm super attracted to urban decay and things being taken back by nature, and signage, faded worn out signs, painted on brick buildings, wooden signs, metal signs with rust. It's all appealing to me.

My battered old G9 goes out with me everywhere now, since those original G10 videos you made at the beach. I’ve now just started taking street photos and the G9 (12.1MP CCD, f2.8-4.8, 35-210mm equiv.) has given me similarly pleasing results. It’s heavy and chunky but rugged and reliable (apart from the OVF which aims a little above the AF point). Thanks for the inspiration to have a go!

Great vid about a great camera. Enjoyed your walkabout and your photos. Strong composition. Could have done them all in B&W IMO. lol. I have had the G10 for over ten years, bought it off a customer at the camera store I used to work at. Took it to Alaska a few years ago and used it on a skiff on the open see to photograph rocks jutting out of the ocean and puffin flitting about. The reviewers back int he day raved about its resolution at low ISOs of 80-200, even 400, and I found the image stabilization was like using a tripod. I could shoot at 1/8 or 1/15 of a second if needed in dim light.

oh man the papain I felt when you said about the hype of Sony.... I sold all me new Sony models a few weeks ago BUT I kept my over 10 years old Sony Nex5n, NEX6 and A5000. I use a 30 year old lens on the on the A5000. I also document old building before they are consigned to history. The latest cameras do far more than I want or need and are eye wateringly expensive for more pixels and things most owners will never use. My brother has some photographs being displayed at an international art exhibition in London in a few weeks taken recently on a 20 year old 35mm film camera. Don't believe the hype about digital cameras!!! I like your photographs and the subject matter.

Nice work and lovely shots David! You nailed the atmosphere of this place with awesome colors. Hull reminds me of Bochum and the Ruhr Area, where I lived for a while. It's full of defunct old steelworks, mines, enormous slag heaps and brick buildings. Much of it has been turned into lovely recreation and conservation areas, parks and museums, like the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, a giant former steelworks complex which was saved by activists and turned into an absolutely fascinating post-industrial park and wildlife refuge by the visionary landscape architect Peter Latz. The Guardian rates is a one of the top 10 urban parks in the world. I am great digicam enthusiast as well, my primary cameras right now, the "analog" Canon Powershot G2, which goes with me wherever I go and in my view hits the sweet spot in terms of megapixels, the Hasselblad 500 C/M and the Pentax 67. @DavidFlowerOfficial10 ай бұрын
I haven’t used the g12 but I know a few of the differences between that and the G10. The G10 had the highest resolution of the original G series and from the G11 onwards the brought the megapixels down from 14.7 to around 10 on the G11 and G12. This was apparently done to improve low light performance but with such a small sensor I doubt the difference would be significant. Regarding prices of compact cameras they seem to fluctuate quite wildly. I got my G10 for about 1/3 the price the are today but the G10 and G12 seem to be readily available for between around £150-250 here in the uk.

Ah cool. It’s been a while since I was over that way. In my former life as a heating engineer the company I worked for did work for the York Diocese so that put me in that sort of area quite a bit🖖

The G10 is special in that it has that higher resolution sensor. Not the most important factor I know, but it kinda makes the G10 stand out. Thanks for watching 🖖

How do you transform the camera photo into pc
@DavidFlowerOfficial10 ай бұрын
If you’re asking how to get the photos from the camera to the pc, I just remove the memory card and put it in my card reader

The Nikon P7000 is just as good but it was very much sold and used as a travel camera, and that means abuse and damage..
