In South Africa it was called Mitsubishi Colt. They only started calling it Triton from the ML

I have a MN triton 2012 and has done 188000 so far. Done few interstate trips like Brisbane to Sydney, Brisbane to Melbourne few times. Did 2 timing belt, change radiator, just replace the rotors with a bigger one.and brakes as well, replace shockies and etc. Mostly wear and tear stuff. Enjoy the car anyway. Just stick with the service and your car will last longer i reckon cheers 😊👍

In the Caribbean it's called l200 sportero. The 2006-2009 variant came with a turbocharged and intercooled 4d56 2.5l with 136 hp and 314 NM of torque. It also came with the 3.2 l 4m41 turbocharged and intercooled with 160 hp and 343 NM of torque. Straya only got the 3.2 l. From 2010 onwards the 3.2 l was dropped except for some South American countries and the vehicle sported the 3rd generation of common rail in the 2.5l. It had 171 hp and 350 NM of torque with the Manuel getting 400 NM. The early versions of the MQs outside of Australia remained with the 2.5l just with 400 NM now on auto transmissions. Eventually they got the 2.4 l. The 2.5 and 3.2 are very solid engines, 90% of the 2006-2009 tritons are still on the road today. My 2007 triton 2.5 will be 15 yrs in March, had it from new. 15 years of no trouble and pure happiness from driving it. Ridiculously powerful for 136 hp, did 175 kmh couple times and would have done more if we had roads to. Absolutely brilliant off road, load carrying and it's never overheated or left me stranded. See more of these tritons and their predecessors on the road today than hilux of the same generation. So much for that unbreakable bs Toyota advertises and I have a prado 120 as well. Didn't get the challengers here nor pajero sport. As for the chassis all vehicles bend when overloaded, not a problem specific to tritons. I'm sure you've seen John cadogen vid on this. If you were too look at the proportion of the chassis, not the tub, behind the rear axle you would realize that all these utes have an overhang and are susceptible to bending. The length of the chassis in the ml and mn are the same just that the mn has a longer tub which really was too long and didn't help its cause because the tritons rear axle is more forward than other utes, not by a lot but definitely not ideal. And for that Mitsubishi have paid heavily with the bent chassis syndrome. I've seen MKs, MLs, MNs, MQs and MRs carry well over a ton for years and never bent 1 inch so it all comes down to how you drive as well. In 2012 or 2013 I think, Mitsubishi had a, 'bad batch' where the engine blocks were prone to cracking by 300k kms or less and they were replaced under warranty with new engines. Now cracked heads are a problem of either age, poor design or overheating so I leave the verdict out on that but personally I believe it was bad design with that 'batch'. At the end of the day, Triton is king of the pickups and I'd definitely buy one again. And bro if you got beef with Dodge I'll f you up so bad, problem is I'm halfway around the world, 😂🤣🤣. Great video as always mate, no bs just straight talk, cheers.

Great informative vlog. All of our series 5 & 6 L200's (along with many other models of MITSUBISHI) here in Blighty (including mine when I brought it brand new) were imported from Australia by CCR (Colt Car Company) But as you probably are aware we no longer can by any in Blighty new, but the old MITSUBISHI dealerships have to service & supply parts for 10 yrs. Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200

I have an aussi spec L200, 2007 model in South Africa that I use as a holiday vehicle and I also do some voluntary rescue work with O.R.R.U. This bakkie had more luxury items than the new Mitsubishi triton Athlete that I have recently bought in Vietnam in as much as it has heated front seats and an electrically operated rear window. I've never seen this type of rear window again. Did they discontinue it?. It also has the center and rear diff locks as standard and 17" rims.. Milage is only 160,000 km

Hi new to your channel The first L200 in Australia were called D50 We as dealers were sent new badges to put on the D50’s before sale so I guess adopting L200 as the name was an afterthought by MMAL

Best tritons... MK IMHO it's the last of the real 4x4's. I looked at MN and ml's and their just a big car with bad gearing for a 4x4 but awesome to drive around the roads. Electric 4x4 switches and computers aren't my thing when it comes to being in the middle of nowhere either. That's only my opinion for me as my mk has done things a lot of people say it shouldn't do. Awesome vid 🍻

Ordered my MR back in July 2021, it arrived in Melb' mid January 2022 but they still can't deliver it to my dealer. They basically told my dealer not to ring them anymore, they refuse to give out an ETA on when I can have it.
