it's nice that you show a few different ways to get the job done. great video hombre. if anyone doesnt have the kit to work on hardened steel or need to remove a lot of it quickly, 3m cubitron film backed sand paper removes material really quickly and gives a better finish than aluminum oxide sandpaper of the same grit. it also doesn't break down the same way that regular sandpaper does, so you need to go to higher grits for a polish.

Always admire your approach of not rushing to the easiest (and most expensive) solutions but explore simpler yet effective solutions. God bless you and hope your channel grows much more. Greatly appreciate your effort, kind regards from Pakistan. Just a word of caution, when filing a blade, jam a small piece of wood just below the blade edge in the vise, so that when bringing your hands back you dont accidentally bump against the sharp edge. Happened to me and was not fun !

Dont forget, whenever they're not in use, loosen the iron and wedge. This will prevent stuck irons and crack

I have a plane that is very similar with an iron and chip breaker that look identical. Except that the iron was stuck much worse than yours. My solution was to apply boiled linseed oil several times. The blade soon became very easy to remove. Remember, when it was new, it probably fit perfectly. The tightness is due to the wood drying and shrinking. This is the problem, not a blade increasing in size. Address the actual problem, not the symptom. It's a lot easier.

In all reality once the timber has shrunk its never going to return to its original size. In my experience no matter how much oil you add to the timber is going to reverse timber shrinking, it may close up some cracks and that is about it. In the event it returns to its original size it may function fine, but once you move back into the season or shrinking timber the blade is likely to be stuck again. So the only approach to allow operation of these hand planes all season once its shrunk is to reduce the blade and chip breaker width to allow correct adjustment of the blade mainly being lateral movement which requires more space than you would think. With the wooden hand planes there is also a good chance of getting one without the original blade and then once again the only way to operate this plane effectively is to remove material off the blade and chip breaker to reduce with width.
