17:52, you ask what else other than cosmetics we could be allowed to grind for. New mini-bosses, new chamber layouts, new traps in rooms (to randomly replace old traps), fountains that give gold instead of health (which is a neat idea if you can’t control which one you find, imo), and the other gods visiting sometimes at the House. Just kinda off the top of my head. I’m sure there are better ideas.

Regarding difficulty, that’s been my main issue with new Zelda games. They start out at their hardest and only get easier upon getting more hearts, stamina, and meals. It gets to a point where if you prepare enough, you literally can’t lose. It removes any stakes to combat.
@tylerharper530611 ай бұрын
Yeah I wish they had like a system where you had to heal during fights not in the menu
@DraconianEmpath11 ай бұрын
imo, it's because Zelda games are primarily puzzles. even combat is a puzzle. the fun part is solving it, which you can only do once. the game keeps giving you tools (making it easier) so that most people can get there, even if they're not very good at the game.
@squiddler773110 ай бұрын
@@DraconianEmpath I'd argue previous zelda games still managed to be consistently difficult, rather than being brutally hard at the start and mindlessly easy by the end. The main difference now is that they're so open that the devs can never make a difficult challenge at the end of the game that players won't just find a way to reach at the start
@TarnishedGoose9 ай бұрын
that's what called power fantasy my friend what's the point of getting new stuff if not for you to get more powerful if the game becomes easy at the end then that shows you there's worth for your hard work but i get you you don't want it to become too easy that's boring
@squiddler77319 ай бұрын
@@TarnishedGoose that's true, yeah, but in most games the challenge you face will escalate with your own power to better sell that idea. You encounter a continuously escalating challenge to match up with you're growing power, so that one by one you're able to overcome them all. In Tears of the kingdom, literally every challenge the game can offer you is about the same level of challenge aside from Ganondorf, so you don't get any of that. You encounter some silver enemies and gleeoks maybe 5-10 hours in, and once you beat them you've basically beat the game cause Tears of the Kingdom has nothing harder to throw at you.

About the game balance, I hope they address it in hades 2. The people who played hades 1 will have a lot easier time with the game if the systems function the same or similar. I hope there's an option to shake things up, like a hardcore diffculty option offered at the beginning so it's still a fresh experience for the people who know the ins and outs of hades 1. Sequels always tend to have that problem.
@mrmediocre84811 ай бұрын
Plus there's the extra time you're stuck in the dashstrike to get the other 2 hits out, which combined with the shorter dashes contribute to making this hammer feel super clunky.

6:38 I have always wanted the Guan Yu spear build, actually using the health regen attack combo, to be good. But my god it is so not good.

I think Serrated Point's main drawback is mostly mitigated by the maneuverability of Achilles' special. (IF you are skilled enough to use it effectively to avoid big AOE type boss damage things.) I know that the I-frames are also diminished but... it's glass cannon but a thicker pane than using any other spear aspect.

I will stand by dread flight build with explosive return and Zeus special where you huck the shield and dash around like a mad man while it hits every single enemy in the stage being awesome.

Bow special (without chiron) is only ok for crowd control with Ares doom, can't think of anything to make it usable

I've attached Athena to it in the past; a spray of deflecting arrows into a crowd of incoming projectiles is pretty useful. Apart from that and Doom effects, I think you're correct lol.

Question for you: after all this time playing, what are the things in the game that still make you angriest? Does anything even get to you anymore, like getting stuck in lava?

@ByrneBaby11 ай бұрын
on the topic of "the grind," I think as long as whatever they add is fun to do, it doesn't matter. Like, you can say it's unfair to new players, but it's also unfair to old players at the same time since by not adding content for people in the later stages of the game for the sake of not alienating new players, you're stripping long-time players of more meaningful content in a game they clearly love enough to sink 100's or 1000's of hours into.

ah, serrated point! i've used it once of twice and absolutely hated it, buuut the results make it so alluring to try again. the shorter dash just drives me up the wall, i can't adjust to it over the span of a run so it's just a frustrating time.

Y'know it seems like you were joking when you said phase 1 is the hardest phase, but honestly I think at this point, that is the hardest phase for me because of the enemies he spawns Phase 2 and 3 aren't usually hard unless I have too little damage to outpace his healing

What about a run which you try to make as deliberately bad as possible, while still picking chambers as if you where building for something good, but then simply picking the worst option? Because sure, if you pick the worst chamber option all the time it is easy, but if you have to think about boons and hammer, and e.g. dis-synergy of them, it would be much more interesting. Alternatively, playing only with things that you know that a lot of people swear by as the best thing ever, but you find bad.

Maybe you've covered this in another video but I noticed that you're very often dashing in a different direction than your dash attack ends up hitting/aiming. Can you comment on how you do this? Is it as simple as dashing in the direction you want to go and relying on auto-targeting to aim the dash attack?
@jefftiali501511 ай бұрын
Idk if he plays on controler, but it's really easy to do on mouse keyboard, you just turn on the option "attack to the mouse direction" and I turn off aiming assist and I can choose manually my targets while I move to the direction I want
@grubbygeorge211711 ай бұрын
You don't have to press the dash and attack at the same time to make a dash-strike. There's some delay allowed between the two actions, where you press the dash button first and the attack button input after the delay will initiate a dash strike instead of the normal attack. Doing this, you can aim the direction of your attack independently of the dash. Not sure if this is necessarily what Haelian does, but this is a possibility.

I think is not the worst build, but i cant use Lounge special from the sword aspect... its just too difficult for me
@bubba-gumby11 ай бұрын
It's been a while since I've played, but the worst build I've ever tried to force was Water Gun (i.e. Aspect of Lucifer + Poseidon Attack). Just push an enemy into a wall and slam them into oblivion. Great on one (1) enemy, but when anything that can't get knocked back enters the mix, GG. That being said, I rarely ever used the special on Aspect of Lucifer, so I was probably leaving a lot of damage on the table. In general, I think most builds that focus on Aspect of Lucifer attack probably aren't that great, from what I remember last time I played, but I'm not about to act like I'm an expert at this game lol
@coldclaw22957 ай бұрын
Id honestly say that charged volley is one of the worst hammers in the game tbh. It feels like a hammer made specifically with Chiron in mind and you cant get it there. Like i feel like every time i use Bow i use the special like 3 times, all in tartarus, mainly to deal with numbskulls.
@coldclaw22957 ай бұрын
On an unrelated note i once took this hammer and then took a dash reducing chaos boon and yea that sucked.

I think God mode is not as amazing as it is made out to be. Rogue LITES already get a negative light by the inverted difficulty curve from meta-progress where you "lose until you have enough meta unlocks and are strong enough to just win" for example in the Fresh-file to first Win Speed run category the vast majority of runs purposely lose the first run just to either not use the sword, or to unlock the Mirror and get the extra dash. God mode adds to that inverted difficulty curve where you are just adding things in your favor until you win, did you gain knowledge of the game to win, or did you just get powerful enough to get the first victory. the real test about player skill would be to after the first victory/clear, start a new save and see if they can do it in fewer loses. where God mode only really impacts damage inputs/outputs (the laziest form of difficulty) then give the game an actual easy mode
