The temperature of the hardware does effect the performance..... The cooler you get your GPU the higher the clock speed will go. This works the same with the CPU as well. Same hardware with higher clock speeds will increase the speed of your computer.

It's SUPER easy to set up a custom fan curve on MSI Afterburner for a GPU. That, combined with a good cleaning and some quality thermal paste can drop a high load temp from the high 80's to the mid 60's.
@DirtyFresh
@DirtyFresh 4 жыл бұрын
Thermal paste makes this much of a difference? Recently bought NZXT pre-built to kick start my getting into all things PC. Came with a Ryzen 5 2600. Recently overclocked it to 3900mhz (which from what I could find is within it's range and from my testing is perfectly stable). However, when running things like Cinebench or some stress test, temps can reach over 100 over the course of the tests! Using the stock cooler. Even on stock frequencies and everything set to it's default auto, temps for my CPU can see up to 76°c when running Cinebench and stress tests. Thoughts?

When I first built my pc, my cpu got over 100 once so I closed everything and continued monitoring and removed a glass panel on my case for cool air until I get fans. (I had one fan but it was in a bad spot because it was part of the case. I got 3 fans and a watercooled cpu cooler and now I don’t get hotter than 75 when putting my pc under pressure

Very impressed with the quality of this video. You should have more subscribers. I built a PC about 2 years ago. Never checked my temps until now. My GPU was hitting 81c max when heavily gaming. Now it stays closer to 65-72c (depending on time of day) after fiddling with the fan curve. Noticed my CPU was hitting 100c though. Definitely something wrong with it. Getting an aftermarket cooler soon and new thermal paste. Hopefully it will cut the heat almost in half and keep it from being damaged more than it probably already is.

@@timcunningham2668 yes most video cards run hot at stock settings. The cooler you run them the better clock speeds you will get. Depends on what card and what your settings are. I would say 90c is too hot. 80c is borderline. I try to keep mine 65 on air cooling. Once i put an aio on my gpu I'm hoping to keep it closer to 50c. Cpu i got the hyper 212 evo and runs about 50c. 40c is fine. Also 0c = 32f. Add 1.8f every 1c. So 1c = 33.8f. 40c = 104f. 100c = 212f.

When ever I played Siege, my pc would skyrocket from 40c to 80c plus, until I capped my frame rate to 60 and a few graphic tweaks now I’m at a cool 45 to 50 now. For some reason not having a frame cap on my games makes my temps higher.

I noticed the same thing.. I recently just had my cpu overclocked and after getting it done I noticed gpu Temps were up to 80°c while gaming with no fan curve setup and I was worried and couldn't remember what they were before. Well I did a few tweaks with graphics and capped FPS and it went down to 73°c but I had to lower power limit in afterburner. Which is fine i guess because I'm still getting same frames. Well I looked back on an old convo. With the guy I bought it from and I seen where I asked him about the temps and at that moment it was 81°C while playing and 61° after closing game and idling.. So I guess I just remembered wrong but regardless I want to get those Temps down. I don't really understand how afterburner works but if I can get my Temps down to Around 71°c, is that good for a 2070 super card?

What I want to know is when we see a manufacturers temp limits is that just for the GPU as a total unit (the generic GPU temp we can see easily) or does the upper GPU limit count things like GPU memory which can be hotter then the actual GPU itself e.g. if my memory hits 80 but my gpu is 70 is that upper limit hit or nah?

I am using a Blower Stlye GTX 1070, because I have a Fractal Design Node 202 mini ITX PC case. With open air GPU cooler it was a mess, the CPU overheated, the SSD and the HDD gained +15C, so I read a little bit and said blower style cooler is the good choice and they had right. With blower stlye GTX 1070, my Core i7 7700 is around 55-60C when I gaming, before it was 80 and the GPU, with a better fan curve never reaches 80C, it is around 75C for example under Witcher 3.

How do you have your GPU/CPU/case fan curves set up? I'm having a hard time deciding what temperature I should be happy with. Is it really just all personal preference? My fans currently get to moderate noise levels during gaming, but almost silent and everything at a cool 30°C during idle. When gaming I have been seeing my GPU and CPU getting to around 50°C. Should I be happy with these temperatures? Is it worth messing with the fan curves to be more aggressive (and louder) to get the temps down further during gaming and maybe even idle? Or should I just keep the idle temperatures as they are with the fans running at a low RPM? I have many questions but do not have the answers yet.

So I bought a new laptop, Lenovo legion 5 and I used HWMonitor to keep track of temperatures for 3 days. Playing on and off, AFK activities when not playing, sometimes putting the game in the tray. The gpu never went above 67, but the cpu, ryzen 5,reached 92 as maximum. That had me worried even though depending on what I was doing it was generally sitting between 55 and 80. Since it's a new laptop I've often seen praised for its cooling, is this bad, or good? Should I find something I can place the laptop on like some kind of stand, to allow better airflow underneath? Edit the game I tested Temps with was black desert online, AFAIK a pretty heavy game. I ran it on high settings with depth of field and faraway npcs off, vibrant filter. If that matters and anyone has a base for comparison.

@JB0lant3
@JB0lant3 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is normal for your situation. Normally CPUs are safe until you reach 95°C or above. However, this "safety" temperature varies among each CPU. Usually CPUs are too hot when it reaches 90°C-100°C and long hours of gaming. GPUs have a different threshold. Although their safety temperature also varies, usually you want to stick below 85°C. Your scenario is good.

I overclocked both my I7-9700K and my RTX 2060 SUPER and all my cores stay within the mid to late 60’s and occasionally jump into the 70’s while my GPU ranges from 68-80 degrees while playing games which I hear is normal when you overclock your GPU

I just had my I9 990k overclocked and my gpu Temps were what I thought was higher than before but after reading back on an old message with the guy I bought it from, I realized that while playing the game I got up to 81°c. But I still want to get those Temps down to around 70°. I guess I could fiddle with the fan curve on afterburner but idk what else to do.. The ambient temp in my room stays pretty hot I would say so idk

1:10 that is false high temps cause lower clocks which translates to lower performance And never let your cpu/gpu hit its max safe temp cuz "its safe temp". The cpu /gpu will lose performance and reduce its lifespan

Guys, I need some help here. It's summer, in my room it's very hot and I usually play with a fan next to me. To play, I remove the cover of the case and in this state my GPU (Gigabyte RTX 2060 6gb 2fans) reaches a maximum of 85c playing in 4k. My CPU reaches a maximum of 74c and the Crucial MX500 250gb SSD that is installed just below the video card reaches a maximum of 69c. I think they are too much hot. The case I have has 3 intake fans on the front and 1 exahust on the back and I have space on the top of the case to install 2 more intake fans. My question is: Will the change in the temperature of my components with these additional 2 fans change dramatically or should I opt for liquid cooling for my GPU, which will also help reduce the temperature of the other components? Thanks for your time.

Also, although your mx500 temps are a bit high, I also have that model (500gb). Mine reaches 55c. This model runs very hot actually, but its nothing to worry about. If the high temps persist then you could try undervolting your gpu.
@luisleon2124
@luisleon2124 4 жыл бұрын
@@aminhamida8996 I think the reason why the MX500 gets so hot is partly because it sits right on top of the video card, which when it hits 85c playing in 4K also heats up the SSD. What do you think? Also when I am not playing (idle) , the SSD reaches 64-66c without removing the case cover.
