I spoke to a town councilman from there 2 years ago. He told me: "A White family in South Africa hires cheap Black labour to do the gardening and cleaning, while in Orania White people clean and garden themselves. So which is more racist? The family who claims not to be racist but pays cheap for Black labour or the family who wants their own space and cleans and gardens their own house?" The idea to live separately isn't racist, no matter if the founders had racial prejudice. And to do everything on their own, cutting all ties with cheap labour is remarkable considering the history behind it.

No this video is completely one sided, amplifying & vilifying out of context the apartheid era. Seperate development was the idea that each main South African group could govern themselves...not to enrich the white baas smoking his pipe, it was for black people to self-govern & preserve their culture. The idea in a multi-cultural consumer driven modern world is dated, but it was nowhere near as brutal as the USSR for instance. Freedom of association, freedom to practice one's culture...ORANIA is the last place I want to live as an Afrikaner, I have never been there, but if the ANC or other radical parties in political power, make it impossible to survive in "normal" South Africa, one might be forced to move there. Out of over 3 million Afrikaners in South Africa, only a drop in the ocean of 3000 reside in ORANIA. Most suburbs in the cities have over 100 000 residents of ALL cultures, including Afrikaners.

Leave them alone they don't need anything from other people the only way people want their town is because they ANC and the rest of the other political parties can't get the rest of South Africa to work and there's nothing wrong if a certain group doesn't want to mix with the rest of groups that is not part of their culture

The Hindus that are South Africans for a few generations now seem to be doing ok, I’ve never seen a video or article about them complaining about life in South Africa.

Now here is my question. So what its racist??? So what it was born from the minds of racist people??? At least its not chaotic and poorly maintained like the so called democratic larger South Africa.

There's more horror going on in RSA since 1994 as in apartheid......all South Africans must open their eyes and wakeup.Things will get worse....the sighs are there.....think.

Do they call the South African police when crimes are committed in this community???
@duckmansam5046 Жыл бұрын
The state gives no money what so ever to the town, they sustain and do everything themselves, including security
@ratbatnufftime2861 Жыл бұрын
@@duckmansam5046 which is exactly why the crime rate is so low, they dispense their own justice, which means they cover up certain things, especially rapes and they report nothing to the state authorities.

In the more than 30 years since it's establishment the police have only ever been called once. And was for a domestic dispute. There is no police station in Orania.

The value of a Rand in 1989 and today is in no way camparable. Back then, a million Rand was a small fortune. Today, the average house mostly costs more.

I think its a great idea! People who don't like Orania are jealous of what they achieved. So to the jealous ones and racist cryers. Look in the mirror and uplift your own towns which are falling apart. It is not racist to to preserve and be who you are. Look at all the nations still living in the previous homelands with their kings and culture intact. Stop the jealousy please.

had no issues with Orania until I learnt there were black families that were forced out. I am in no way associated with any political party but incidents like these make one understand the stance that Julius Malema takes.
@PhansiKhongoloza Жыл бұрын
You have no idea! Let's start here? Firstly it is private property. The blacks were squatting on this private property. So let's say you buy a house or a flat? Do the previous owners ( the sellers)or their Tennant's?have the right to remain living in that property after transfer of ownership? Must you now share the house/flat with the previous owner/tennant? Get real man!

@Phansikhongolza not everything is a fight. If the case is as you state, you don't have to convince me, but I was made to understand that these people lived there before the land was sold. But if they were squatting after the sale, then I am 100% in agreement.

You talk about 1991, but use footage of 1950's & 1960's of a deeply segregated South Africa, the same as America at the time. Orania was empty, when it was bought, there were no black & coloured people living there, it had been a ghost town for several years.

We had to stop in Oranje on our way to Richmond from Kimberley last year. My daughter needed to use the toilet, but wasn't let to use the "INSIDE toilet ", yet MY money was good enough to be spent INSIDE that convenient store..." We quickly realized that Oranje was only a drive thru. #proudlycoloredinSAALWAYS
