+smackdowner Yeah Evolve was so great that a competent monster could thrash competent hunters easily (I was ranked 42 Kraken in NA and I'm surprisingly still pretty high despite not playing in months since it's release) and as the game stands it's dead and broken. Evolve was trash, too. A bare bones multiplayer game with broken balancing and no content but a massive p[rice tag attached to it. It did so well that less than 6 months since it's release and the price of it has been cut in half: and guess what? No one is still playing it.

I don't get the hate. It is a little heavy on the QTE's but the gun fights, Lycan fights and story pulled me in. The replay value is not high. But it is a hell of a game and story. And its just enough to hold me over until Bloodborne and BF Hardline. If I had to rate The Order I would give it an 8.5.

The Order tries to be a sophisticated and grounded narrative driven 'experience' so it's all the more jarring how basic the combat is comparatively. I own a PS4. My friend owns an XboxOne. Every time he gets a cool looking exclusive, I play it at his house. He played some InFamous Second Son with me, and we both beat Sunset Overdrive together. Both are solid 8/10s, I'd say. Very good games. I checked out MC Collection, and it was definitely a fantastic remaster. Multiplayer was broken, but LAN and single player was great. He also checked out TLOU Remastered. Although online was completely fucked, MCC probably took longer to make and has more content, but TLOU is such a great game with solid, working multiplayer too. Ryse was bad, and Order 1886 looks like it will share the same faults. Titanfall is good and fun, but nothing I'd write home about. It's on PC too. XBoxOne also has some decent racing games, but I don't care for those. PS4 has a shit ton of great indie game ports. I like the PS4 UI more than the tile stuff on the XBone, and I think it runs games better, but there's hardly a different. I also am interested in a lot of upcoming PS4 exclusives, and I think Sony owns better IPs. Honestly, the eighth gen consoles are both pretty equally under whelming. The Xbone's victories are few and not very major, and the same can be said for PS4. I don't see how you can brag about either of these console's exclusive victories without being totally full of it, because these victories are not very impressive, and are equally matched. *TL;DR*: XboxOne is "Okay-ish" and PS4 is "okay-ish," and I have the credibility to say that. Saying one is completely better than the other is stupid. Until we start getting some great, generation-defining games on both of these systems, get a Wii U or a PC.

CourtCjbLand Telltale Games are my favourite developer! Their games always have amazing writing and character development. Not only that but their stories are much more interactive and there are really cool puzzles to solve in their games. I also love that even though they produce high quality content they don't charge you a lot for their games (although I'm not sure about their retail versions).

The way I see it not every game needs to be a 100+ hour, open world shooter. We already have plenty to choose from. I liked that the game was different and the strength of the story and immersion of the world make up for the slow movement and clunky controls in certain situations. Plus I think it’s nice to be able to complete a game in a few sessions and really grasp the whole story instead of spending 20 hours doing side quests. I don’t think every game should be like this but it’s nice to have a variety. I hope a sequel comes out even though some overly critical gaming joy boys didn’t like it.

I'm playing it right now for the first time. It is NOT a good game. It's barely even a game. It's a beautiful looking CG movie that occasionally prompts you to press a button, and every few hours briefly becomes a cover shooter. The story is good. The graphics are good. But they forgot to add the single most important thing every single game should have: gameplay. The occasional QTE is not gameplay.

whats your definition of gameplay.If you had to actually use a controller and make decisions on your own to progress in the story, it's gameplay. it immerses you in a fictional world much better than any movie or book would. This game did what other "gameplay heavy" games could not and that's make me give a damn about ANY of the characters. I actually was intrigued by the games story development and was refreshed that writing and atmoshphere design is still an art that can be mastered in the videogame industry.

The Last of Us doesn't insult your intelligence with constant, basic QTEs. The Order does. The Last of Us doesn't constantly interrupt you with cutscenes. The Order does. The Last of Us has wide open areas for lots of exploration. The Order doesn't. The Last of Us actually gives you multiple reasons to explore. The Order doesn't. The Last of Us gives you multiple mechanics and strategies for combat. The Order doesn't. The Last of Us has excellent pacing. The Order doesn't. The Last of Us has incredibly well written characters. The Order doesn't. The Last of Us doesn't hold your hand through the entire game. The Order does. The Last of Us takes you much longer than 8 hours for a first playthrough. The Order doesn't. The Last of Us has 95% gameplay, 5% cutscenes The Order doesn't. After reading this, if you still think The Last of Us and The Order are the same thing, then you're being ignorant just for the sake of being ignorant.

Chess RedEagle But there's actually something TO walking around in TLOU. It's not just talking to people since you NEED to explore for supplies to survive. As well as seeing some great environmental storytelling. You're still interacting with the world in an meaningful way. In the order, it's like walking through a pretty museum but not being allowed to touch, or really do anything, then have a random cutscene trigger out of nowhere, then you start shooting some angry men, only to go back to some more museum strolling. And it doesn't help that the pacing is terrible.

I can easily say that 80% of games out there are linear. If they aren't open world sandbox games or rpg scoped games they are linear. COD and BFF can be argued as being linear. I really enjoyed this game and it's probably one of my favorites of all time. The production value of this game was tremendous. The setting, story, characters, voice acting, and the graphics were all marvelous and probably the best i ever seen in a game. That said my only complaints were towards the game play. I did enjoy the game play and the weapons themselves, but i found the game play lacked execution. Anytime you were in a fight the enemies just came out in waves, mostly in the same spot. Also when you were fighting werewolves you were always encased in a boxed room. I would have liked to seen werewolves turning mid fight with other enemies or the enemies flaking you, just something other than waves. I can understand some saying the length doesn't support the price, but honestly the production value in this game is more than worth your time and the price. Plus the game never felt short nor was it a short game. It holds an average time for a campaign and it sure did deliver. I understand the complaints for the quick time events as well, but i never found myself hating them. This game was great and i hope it does well enough to grant it a sequel, I would love to see improvements in the game play since i believe that would fix the the heavily dependent upon quick time events and add some length to the game it self. Just keep in mind this game ISN'T FOR EVERYONE. Every game is different just keep that in mind. Also the fact that this reviewer made a comment about the cover system to me shows that this game wasn't for him, I thought the cover system matched the game and the fact that you couldn't see over the ledge made it seem more realistic.

I'm gonna get hate for this i know, but i finished the game today (yes it is that short) and loved it. I'm obviously the minority, but it reminded of The Last of Us, having those quite moments before the fights, helping an ally traverse the environment etc. I agree with the overuse of QTE's, but they didn't detract my experience, but I know that's a subjective opinion. The game is designed for a specific target market, and reminds me of Uncharted 1. Its flawed, and there is plenty of room for improvement (DEFINITELY needs to be longer + more lycan encounters!) but i can't deny how much a enjoyed every moment of it.

Its cool if you are upset that a game you've been looking forward to got a poor review. Its natural to want to justify that score, and question the credibility of the review... but a 6 hour campaign (including cutscenes), with no replay value, and no multilayer is a poor investment for $60. Look no one is saying don't buy the game, they are just providing you with an honest opinion of the games value. I really looked forward to this game, and up until last week I planned on purchasing it. I still do. But not until the price is significantly lower (say during the the holidays when its $15-30). Don't fight Sony's battles for them. Let them defend the length and content in this game with a price cut. Until then, either buy the game and play it... or don't and buy something else.

Just finished this game, and yea with it being so short, maybe it isn’t worth $60, but this is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. Got it for $10 and it was worth it a million times over. An incredible score, amazing voice acting, and one of the best storylines I’ve ever played. This game is easily a 10/10 for me.

A lot of the things he disliked could be said about The Last of Us.. where there are also segments of non combat 'walk and talk'. I like this game for the same reasons as The Last of Us; Incredible graphics and great writing. It's not as original as TLOU and the gameplay is not amazing, other than that its a great game with it's own unique moments. I think people are forgetting some of the really cool things like the fabric and lighting visuals and how awesome it is when you see an enemy transform in front of you with such detail. I wish these reviews were less cynical, we are meant to play not just bash and be snobs. Its not that bad and hope they can improve in a sequel.

Sharkey3331 Fair enough, TLOU is not as linear as The Order. The creative weapons and gadgets of The Order give some room for your own style though. I think this game is just trying to world build for a new franchise, like Destiny, which would be cool if this Gen becomes famous for franchises that started slow and grew. It would be almost the opposite of last gen franchises.

Agreed. Aside from the commercial aspect (these game rags exist to make money, and they do get paid in various forms by the game companies), the reviewers are so jaded. It's like if Half-Life or even HL2 came out today, they'd give it a terrible score. They see games so early in the development process that there is no magic when they play the final product, so they just talk about what they dislike in a highly anticipated new IP. There's a lot more to this game than what this idiot talked about in the review. Much of it is subtle things. It deserves a much higher score. It's WAY more interesting than Destiny, which I deleted after a few days (biggest waste of money ever), so the score should be higher. So screw IGN (and their parent company, which is the same as Faux News), I give it a 9/10!

I think the bad reviews are half aimed at this game, and half aimed at the current state of Triple A releases in general. It's served as a scape goat for all the recent big budget disappointments. The straw that broke the camel's back. Is that fair? Debatable. The main problem (besides the stupidly short length and total lack of replay value) most people seem to have? This is a game that does everything fairly well, but nothing really great... and we've had far too many of them lately. The story is tolerable. The atmosphere and presentation is quite strong. The cover based shooting is solid enough, and often quite enjoyable in a mindless way. The rest of the core gameplay is slow paced but fairly okay.Everything about it screams average. It's vanilla. And for a game that apparently promised so much before it's release, that isn't good enough. Not by a long shot. Personally, I never read any of the previews and only heard about the pre-release hype after the game had already launched and been slaughtered by reviewers, so I could not give a monkeys about this particular title. It's the wider role it serves in the industry that interests me. In an ideal world, it would serve as a wake up call to big budget developers hoping to coast along on pretty graphics, ridiculous levels of hype and the sheer gullibility of others. In reality, I fear it means larger pay cheques for certain critics. Depressing, really.

In my honest opinion, the more linear a game, the more I don't want to buy it. I mean sure, games have been linear going back to ancient gaming history lol. But I tend to have way more fun with the games that let you have an impact, with...idk, maybe 'choices' some games let you make, or the option to play the role of a villain, instead of a hero? Or games that are straight up open world? From what I hear, this game has you in shackles so to speak. As linear as it get's. And that is a turn off for me gaming wise.

I call bullshit I have both a ps4 and a Xbox One and I have Titanfall. I also got to play the order demo at gamestop because a Sony rep came down and let the customers and the workers play it. The game was sluggish but when it got to the shooting the game was actually pretty solid and smooth. This game has more pros than cons but yet it still gets a 6.4 while Titanfall which I have and play gets a damn 8.9 and that game lacks so much content and looks like a futuristic Call of Duty ghosts Sony didn't pay so they didn't get a good score lol and that's what happens when you don't pay ign like Microsoft does

They don't get paid. Why is it when a game that people want to be good but isn't gets a poor score it's automatically "oh they got paid". The fact is that this "game" isn't very good. It's stunning, got a brilliant setting and style but gameplay wise there is literally nothing. Titanfall brought something new to the table and was very fun for a short period of time. Based on it's excellent mechanics and "fun factor" it clearly trumps this game, 8 is a solid score for titanfall. And personally I think the reviewer was actually generous to this "game". Baring in mind I prefer single player games to multiplayer but the order just isn't really a game.

After watching this review and playing the game yesterday, I just do not understand how this game was rated this way? The Story is great, the graphics and sound are the best I have ever seen. Everything plays very smoothly, and it has taken me 8hrs to reach chapter 15. This game deserves a solid 8/10.
