@@Rendo86 Well, technically the concept of a game getting harder the more of it you beat was in fact born from the bug, so yes, you're right, but it was a happy accident in that we might not have the concept if not for a total accident of technological limitations. So there's no need for the "or" there, it is both a happy accident AND the birth of difficulty curve. And if this comment seems utterly inane and pointless, please don't judge me too harshly, I'm in the middle of a depressive episode bingeing Zero Punctuation videos to try to take my mind off my brain's own self-induced misery so I'm very nearly as cynical and nit-picky as Yahtzee himself right now.

@@pranavghantasala6808 I'm not sure I would call that element a mistake. With the limitations of older hardware, lots of old video games used exploits to add features that would otherwise had been impossible to implement under the restrictions. This property makes the line between an unintentional bug left in because nobody wanted to fix it and an intentional exploit left in because it contributed to the overall design very blurry.

Well, the game does what it was meant to do. Show the awesome performance the PS4 is capable of when you only use 66% of the screen, keep it to narrow playable areas and cover it all in film grain so you can't work out the finer details of the meshes and textures. Well done cheeseburger with fries on table 18!

Maybe they're English werewolves. If so, it would sound something like: "Sorry we got bit had a curse, we'll be hiding while you try and deal with your corrupt order. If you need anything, just pop a mug with the water over fire and we'll be there. If you kill us, we'll get a little mad, but there's only three of us so do whatever. You know what would've increased a lot of gameplay? Add in more supernatural monsters, like Vampires, Redcaps, varying types of Witches; even some Irish monsters like Revenants, Dullahans, and even the Nuckelavee. Even include a bit of Open-World exploration, like in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and have the resistance thing come up at least by the mid-point of the game's story, and have the ending be the results of what Galahad fought for.

All of the hype and and ranting about graphics that the games industry spewed over The Order 1886 back during its release and look at where it is now; a generic 4 hour long game with no replay-value that NOBODY remembers. Seriously, I legitimately forgot this game existed until a few days ago when I randomly happened across a comment that used it as an example, ironically enough, of games long since abandoned and forgotten. I believe I predicted this game's future perfectly all those months ago, and I said that people would one day look through their game library and say "The Order 1886? What is this thing and when did I buy it?"

I remember when exclusive titles were a means to compare games with your friends. "Oh, you guys have Halo? We have God of War." "Gears of War any good? Is it kind of like Uncharted?" If a game nowadays has to rely solely on graphics instead of what really matters in a game -- you know, the gameplay -- then I am perfectly content on still getting to the metric fuckton of backlogged games that I have on my PS3. I still get to play some fantastic games and I get to save the four hundred dollars I'd spend on a new console for a years supply of Twix.
@GrayFalcony
@GrayFalcony 9 жыл бұрын
Maybe there actually is a positive site about that: Bad exclusive titles might finally end the console war. You know, instead of all the "Our games are better then yours", people nowadays might be like: XBox One Owner: "Your exclusive titles suck!" PS4 Owner: "No, we have..... Actually, yeah, you're right. They do suck." XBox One Owner: "Hah, see! Our games are way better! We have..... Hm, actually our's suck too...." PS4 Owner: ".....So.... Let's get Pizza?" XBox One Owner: "Yeah, okay." :D

I believe Gaming Brit described this game very nicely: "I don't deny a lot of talented people probably worked on this game; I mean, it's not buggy, it works, the art is nice looking and making models and textures this good is a feat far out of my reach. But holy shit, as a self-satisfied prickazoid with a KZbin channel, I have to say this has to be one of the most... mechanically shallow games I've touched in years. I have played Nintendo Wii beat-'em-ups with waggle controls that are far deeper than this game. It is almost ludicrous how bare bones of an experience The Order: 1886 truly is, and as I sit here and write this now, I have trouble coming up with all that much to actually say..."

Remember the Watchdogs Hypetrain crash? Well The Ordeal (insert number here) is exactlly that, except for the fact that Watchdogs was actually an unpolished gem encrusted in a thick layer of buttery deadline release rush whereas The Oditty ended up being a piece of coal wrapped in granite. You have to grind the outer layer so much that by the time you start enjoying theres twelve minutes of gameplay left in the story.

... Then 7 years later I picked this up on sale while actively looking for a single player game that I could just veg out to. A couple of hours in and I'm thinking... Huh! I'm enjoying this. No looking around for hidden trinkets or meandering around a bland and lifeless open world that takes me 30 minutes just to reach the next marker on my map. I'm an odd one, I love that the worl is densely detailed and I can just soak it up. Just a straight forward linear single player campaign that I'm enjoying.

It doesn't help that that's not 100% true. I love great gameplay and all, but if the game looks like complete shit, 9/10 times I'm not gonna enjoy it. Of course, my standards for shit graphics are a fair bit lower than your average person... And there is that 1/10 of games, like DF, which make up for it with glorious gameplay once you learn what does what.

Judging by the trailers of The Order: 1886, I was expecting it to be either like Assassin's Creed combined with Just Cause 2 or be like Blood where instead of being a generic shooter where you only get a pistol, a shotgun and an assault rifle, you use more creative weapons like a flare gun, sticks of dynamite, and even a voodoo doll.

Well, everyone knew that this game was perceived to attract consumers by mooning the PS4's graphics and capabilities but when all the fog settles, it's a game that's been cut and stuck together so many times you can actually taste the games it's ripping off from as you play it. It basically tried to say "Hey, this is what cover based generic storyline shooters would look like if we had done them on a PS4". All that would've crawled under that carpet of awful releases if only they had priced it based on the overall worthiness instead of how many hours the poor sods put into polishing and adding unnecessary detail and sacrificing fundamental aspects of gameplay in the end TLDR: It's an expensive poster that shows off the PS4's power

The Order 1886 is what happens when developers are all so wrapped up in their own bravado that they can't see the game games. Yeah, you made it, it looks good and it works, but it's boring. Every review shows this. The gameplay is boring.

Lets have a seemingly interesting steampunk setting in an era not covered by video games, throw in some H.P Lovecraft and excellent voice actors with an interesting plot, and Tesla, which some pretty awesome weapons and gadgets. Instead we got HOLY ASS FUCKING TITS! THIS GAME IS GORGEOUS AS FUCK! WOW! LOOK AT THAT FUCKING DETAIL! OH MAH GAWD LOOK AT THEM MUSTACHE! RAPTOR BABY JEZUS, THIS IS AMAZING! Wait, what? No co-op? Hmmm.. that's okay! I'm sure the game is an epic adventur- what, wait, what? It's only 6 hours long?... Uhmm... okay, is there multiplay- WHAT?! NO MULTIPLAYER?! ...you sure this is 6 hours? Can't be, if this is a single-player game only it's got be like Last of Us, or Uncharted, right? 15 hours of awesomesauce? ...no? well, at least it's FU- WHAT?! ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?! Y'know, most of the time I feel I need take everything Yahtzee says with a grain of salt or more, since this is in it's essence a comedy show and it seems like he often criticizes a game more harshly because of that, take Sonic Generations as a prime example. But, at the same time, from what I've heard others say about this game, I somewhat want to believe this wholeheartedly.

I bought this game the day I got my ps4 ironically it came out that day. since I had no knowledge of this at all except for the commercial on TV it had.I bought it hopping it was good. I did not touch it for 2 days since I had things to do at the time. later on I heard some beat it in 5 hour's. so I thought maybe it was a speedrun sure enough it was. so anyway I finally decided to play it. it was 10:47pm at the time. so I played for 2 hours before getting tired and went to sleep.I awoken I was getting ready for work I had 4 hours to spare after getting ready. so I continued my game time at 9:55am played for 3 hours and then left for work. came back home since I had nothing to do I decided to keep playing. 8:45 I began playing I played for 2 and guess what I beat it. count it 7 hours it took and I was taking my time to finding every paper,every notes,voice logs enjoying the atmosphere of the game. but in the end it was over as quickly as it started.

Simple answer consistent pay. He would probably have more money if he went solo and was paid based on his views, but this way he has a predictable schedule and predictable pay so if he ever buys something he can do it confidently on credit and no when he will be able to pay it back

Though I really enjoy the PS4, the Wii U is still my favorite (Oh gawd do I hate saying this) "current gen" console, probably simply due to its fun and also beautiful games. Nintendo Land is actually a really good launch title. Of course, it's not too fun on your lonesome, but it's a really good game that even my grandmother can play. Literally. She has played Nintendo Land with me and other family members on multiple occasions.
