Aman Tauqir base on my experienced. Using products for hyperpigmentation/ melasma/ old acne scars, it doesn’t work like magic and our skin reacts to the products differently. So I advice you to try it out and use it consistently if you see improvements. I recommend, azeliac acid, retinol, vitamin C serum, niacinamide, I used derma roller for my old acne scars..

Essa MD “Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%” is impossible to find where I live, what do you think if instead I use “Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%”?? It’s also water based, so should it also work with the “Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA” formule? (I skip the lactic acid as I do chemical exfoliation once a week and I was recommended not to mix those two). Aysha BR Hello beautiful and thank you so much for the request! I’m so happy you enjoy this video and then it came at a good time. Generally, I would recommend adding these in as the actives, as long as they don’t interfere with anything else in your routine! If I were to build a routine for those with pigmentation issues, would you want it to be brand specific, meeting just for using the ordinary products, or would you like other, and potentially better brands, mixed in with some of the recommendations found here? How price sensitive are you? All of this would be helpful information and I would be more than happy to consider!

Hi there, I know you have a lot of these to answer but I was wondering if you know which products would be good to use together AM and PM for melasma. Also, I live in the desert and have REALLY dry skin all the time and I'm old (44), hence fine lines. I used a routine that I emailed Deciem about but I feel like it turned my super dry. So far, AM I use micellar water>alpha arbutin 2%HA>niacinamide10%/zinc1%>magnesium ascorbyl phosphate10%>B oil> and a mixture of B oil mixed in to CeraVe moisture cream (I'm parched). PM is glycolic acid 7% toner>Granactive retinoid 2% emulsion>rosehip seed oil>and my CeraVe B oil mixture again. I switch weeks on the PM and use micellar water, alpha arbutin 2%HA, vitamin C suspension with HA spheres 2% and my lotion mix. In the AM on those weeks I use micellar>marine hyaluronics>buffet> CeraVe mix. I just don't feel like anything is working on my spots. I have dark splotches and white splotches intermingled with the dark on my cheeks only. It's pretty annoying and I've tried everything and been living with it for YEARS. I've seen most of your videos and I'm really trust your input. Please help if you can. Thanks!!! Oh, I use CeraVe AM sunscreen every day too.

@@CassandraBankson Thanks for getting back to me! I only just started creating a real skincare routine for the first time in my life it feels, so I have no idea what to do. I was wondering how to add them in and avoid interference with my differin gel, or vitamin c, or buffet peptide solution, or niacinamide. I use a lot of the ordinary products, mainly because I like the price range, but I think for me anything under the $20 would be great. A lot of people I've met, including myself, are in the same situation: in their late 20s, and wondering if we deal with ageing (I already have lines of my forehead!), acne, hyperpigmentation, texture... it feels like we need to do it all, and how do we do that without our products "cancelling each other out" with their pHs and whatnot.

@CassandraBankson
@CassandraBankson 4 жыл бұрын
TEN hey absolutely! Great question. For the first product with l ascorbic acid, you should avoid mixing it with products that have water. Unfortunately, water can easily degrade L ascorbic acid can become easily oxidized into something called dehydroascorbic acid, this mainly happens in the body but it can also happen when you apply it on your skin. Not the end of the world, but it renders the product less useful. Make sure that your skin is completely dry when you’re applying, and make sure that you are not putting on a water-based moisturizer after. Additionally, the vitamin C works best in a low pH, so I do you only using something like a glycolic acid before hand to prep the skin would help it penetrate nicely. For the lactic acid, it is a beautiful ingredients and it is water soluble, so avoid putting it on top of any oil’s. You can definitely use oil’s afterwards. Because it is very powerful, I would also recommend avoiding any other acids, such as salicylic or glycolic, just to make sure your skin can handle it. Once you’ve built up a tolerance it should not be a problem For the magnesium ascorbic phosphate, this is a really great form of vitamin C. It’s actually very stable because of the silicone and can really be used wisely! It is best used alongside a sunscreen because of the way they complement each other. If you are using a benzyl peroxide in your routine, try to avoid using a vitamin C at the same time. Just because the benzyl peroxide can destroyer the vitamin C and make them both useless. I really hope this helps! Also, please excuse any grammatical errors! Using voice dictation to type this on my phone so apologies for anything that Siri misspelled

@@CassandraBankson I was thinking the same thing - you say that those three products "work together", but does that mean you apply all of them at once, or all of them in a sequence or some of them in the morning and some in the vening? I use the MAP every morning in the hope to reduce hyperpigmentation but not much success yet. I use retinoids or acids in the evenings. Should I additionally use the MAP in the evening - or even all three of those? I dont think lactic acid is good for the morning. So maybe you can clear this up - I always would like to know how to combine the Ordinary products because that is so important for this brand as it usually has singe-ingredient products that need to be combined, while other brands often combine a number of actives in one product, so please talk more about how to combine or "layer" these products. i saw a lot comments mentioning they are using the Niacinamide instead. I too just started using the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and it looks pretty promising. Would love to know what your thoughts are on Niacinamide compared to the products you mentioned above and also the routine for it. I am someone who struggle with fungal acne and finding a routine that did not clash with other skincare products can be quite the struggle ☹️

You are incredible. I am in love with your videos! You explain things so well! Would it be too much trouble to ask you to create a video in where you create skin care regimes for layering products to get the best results per skin care concern? I suffer with pretty much everything. I have hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, sun spots, sun damaged, wrinkles you name it 😅 So I really struggle as I have so many of The Ordinary products, all for different skin concerns so I never know which products to use together, or when I should focus on which concern. I am just overwhelmed🙁 You do such an amazing job with your videos and I really trust your judgment. So thank you for everything you’ve already put out so far! It’s been such a great help! ♥️

@@annamelai8356 it’s definitely good and it works, you just have to keep up with it for a month to see some results and then at least 3 months to see big improvements. the only thing I’d say is the texture is a bit weird idk how to describe it but I didn’t like the feel of it on my skin however I stuck to it bc I wanted to lighten my scars and I only used it at night. I would put it on and follow with the rest of my routine and wait an hour for it to sink in and do it’s job before I put my face on my pillow too, hope this helps x

Just going to speak from my own experience from using this product: It helps with reducing overall redness and inflammation in your skin, but doesn’t do much for dark spots or acne scarring. I bought it bc I have a lot of dark spots left from old pimples, and after using it for almost 4 months, I think that reducing redness is as far as it goes (for me!). It is an overall good ingredient to have in your skincare routine, but may not be the most effective against dark spots! Hope this helps, but also keep in mind that it’s just a personal opinion❤️

One study found that applying a 4% niacinamide cream every six hours lightened pigmentation spots almost as effectively as hydroquinone. If you want to replicate that, I’d recommend getting a better formulated niacinamide product, a cream with about 4-5%, and apply it two to three times per day :)

Sasa Archie I agree. I don’t think that the ordinary’s niacinamide formulation works very well. Niacinamide can become niacin if not properly stabilized, which has the same benefits, but also causes flushing and minor irritation
