I was so excited to try this routine! I went out to purchase everything except the cleanser and the Vit C. Let me just say my face was very happy until I applied the Azelaic Acid on top of the Granactive Retinoid with 5%, my face almost set fire!! I had to wash it off immediately! I went to the ordinary site, and it says "not" to apply the Granactive Retinoid with any of their direct acids and Azelaic was one of them! I will try again without it!! That was my worst experience. I do see there is another video that seems to be an updated version that does not include the Granactive Retinoid, wish I would have seen it first. Hopefully this helps someone else just joining.

Dr Rattan, I have literally watched 90% of all of your videos in the last 5 days. You are a lifesaver to me! I am of African descent, 61 years of age with combination normal to dry skin. I suffer with hyperpigmentation that became very apparent to me about 6years ago and has been getting worst until about 4 years ago when I was introduced to sunscreen. The darkness slowed down with sunscreen and anti aging routine. Thanks to you, I definitely have a much greater understanding of how to use my skincare products. I will be purchasing you sunglasses too. Thank you so much for everything you shared about inflammation, sunscreens and skincare routines. I will check back with you with my 30 day results! @@marvareedfatima9510 so far, the most evident change has been much less irritation because I'm using my products differently, those that I continue to use. I also purchased the colorscience sunscreen and block because I was using a chemical block. The progress so far, much more even looking skin. @@nabila4348 it's going slow, but it's only been a month, I think. I need to give it more time. A lot of my hyperpigmentation is old, but any new regimen, you have to give it at least a month or three before you see any real improvement. I know it's working though because I use a lot less makeup to cover my dark marks. If my skin improves even more by the third month, I'll give an update. I wasn't able to get the magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, but it might be that might be a good thing because either the formula changed or doctor v isn't aware that you aren't supposed to use it in a regimen with niacinamide.

I've had hyper pigmentation for years, so it's going to take three or four months before I see any drastic change. But they are fading. I will probably post a video showing the before or after, but I don't feel comfortable recommending the routibr until I've seen it work on myself. Yes, please have a look at standard beauty, it's a local South African brand, that has a similar product line as the ordinary. The ordinary is not so affordable for the average South Africa and standard beauty is a lot more affordable, please look at it an advice on if it is worth it. Thanks love the content.

Dr. V: One of your 100%Euro fair, ginger converts here. Do not want to intrude on info for beautiful skin of colour, but your recommended routines and products are the ONLY ones that work on my melasama and sun spots! I have converted over to "curly girl' ethnic hair products as well for my Caucasian quite wavy hair...nevet looked better! I value your teaching and will continue to watch and learn if I am not intruding.❤️

Yes! And thank you. Although i would like you to make a summary of the products by brand and name to put on our skin. Just so its easy to make a screenshot and go shopping with a list and “recipe” on how to apply

You made it so comprehendable as like having a visual presentation of how ingredients work and react on the section of skin. And all these complicating mix-match skin essentials for combating skin problems are simplified by your explanation. I earned importabt points on choosing skin care and its layering order in just a few minutes. Saves so much!

Lovvvve all of your videos THANK YOU 😭 can you PLEASE make an Ordinary layering routine for dry sensitive acne prone dark skin that also includes how to prevent acne and treat hyperpigmentation? Just want to make sure the products mentioned in this video will work with acne centered products.

I have pigmented skin so I somehow came to this video. Ordered the products mentioned by Dr V except for the moisturizer from ordinary bcoz it's out of stock here in Rotterdam. So as a mositurizer, I apply a cream from Paula's choice. My spots which were there on my cheeks since 6-7months have now started fading. The Ordinary products actually work.. thank you Dr V.. 😀

Thank you so much for this! I have one question and one recommendation: 1) The Ordinary is completely out of the Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. In other videos, you have recommended their Ethylated Ascorbic acid 15%. Can that be incorporated safely into this regime in lieu of the Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate? 2) It would be fantastic if you could do a video for The Ordinary for Hyperpigmentation AND anti-aging. What can we safely combine from each regime to combat both hyperpigmentation and the aging process? Or do you have to keep these regimes completely separate?
@sct40403 жыл бұрын
Actually, she just gave that to you. The retinoid is for anti-aging.

I know this question was asked over a yr ago but this is what I use: cleanser, Alpha Arbutin, Buffet, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F, & a moisturizer in tha morning. In the evening, I add the Azelaic Acid before moisturizing.

I can't thank you enough for this! I hate being so insecure about such a vain issue and am so tired of spending a fortune trying to get rid of my melasma only for it to come right back from one accidental moment in the sun. This info is truly helpful and greatly appreciated!
@ihuomaotika26563 жыл бұрын
It's not vain dear. I have terrible hyperpigmentation and dark spots scattered around my chin plus the frequent painful acne, so I can understand insecurity but we can't let it get us down. Hope it worked for you

Yes. I need to have anti-aging and hyperpigmentated skin routine. That is good all day. I work nights in a bright environment and sleep days in a bright area and always exposed to blue and all sorts of light.
@CrazyPlantLady9114 жыл бұрын
If you're trying to sleep during the day, have you tried getting "blackout" curtains? I find they help a lot to prevent light from penetrating indoors, day or night (even light from street lamps can prevent me from getting a good night sleep). They can be expensive though, so if you know how to sew, you can get blackout fabric and make your own. 😉

if you have acne-prone skin or oily, please conduct a skin-patch test before using the cerave moisturizer she mentioned as part of your regular routine. That product gave me cystic acne and now I'm dealing with hyper-pigmentation.

I will always be so glad I came across your channel! Educated, medical professionals are such a rarity on KZbin in comparison to the sea of skincare influencers with little to no real knowledge and who often give out harmful advice (some of which I've unfortunately followed and suffered as a result).. I no longer need any of them now that I've found an actual professional who truly cares about brown skin. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Dr ❤️
