Have you considered leaving a signed certificate of everyone involved in the rebuild, tucked away in the organ? You were so pleased to find morsels of evidence and it would mark your part in the story. Maybe leave a memory stick and hope that in years to come it can be deciphered.

People frequently make jokes about organists and organs, but what they usually don’t realise is that they predate the piano by several hundred years and without them the synthesiser would not exist.

In John Irving’s book, “Until I Find You” I became introduced to the practice of great organists traveling the world to play the great organs. It gave me the opportunity to converse with our church organist about this ritual, or rights of passage as it might be and he had indeed sought and played many of the grand pipe organs while he was a college student visiting Europe. We have a modest yet robust pipe organ in our own church and when he lets it rip during holidays? It is literally breathtaking. Thank you to everyone involved with this restoration/reclamation- if an award were to be given for fearlessness in tackling a project certainly you and crew deserve to win it, Billy.

How fabulous seeing daddy Petherick and his two sons all working on the Convent together. You’re a great man Mick and you did such a good job as a parent! And then there’s the Petherick circle of amazing friends, workers & helpers. Nick you have been invaluable with the deconstruction and reconstruction of the organ. Love watching you and Michael working together under the watchful eye of Pip. Yannis love seeing how your skills have developed and the dedication you give to everything you do. Welcome back Alex now Billy can just crack on! Fabulous memories being made thanks to Billy & Gwendolyn ❤️❤️

Michael, you should be protecting yourself with a mask and protective eyewear when you are blowing “centuries of dust” around at your face level. Just my two cents worth as a healthcare provider. You are an incredibly gifted young man and no one would want eye or lung injuries to affect you! You and Nick are doing fantastic with the organ. That is a monumental task. Billy, you should get a brass plate for the organ indicating where it was obtained from and list you as the acquiring owner, then Michael & Nick’s names as the restorers of its new placement at the convent. Strong work all of you! Very impressive!

Organist here... been fascinating watching you all move & reassemble that instrument. Since Michael is a technical wiz who exceeded all expectations with that organ rebuild, and since he plays piano and composes- consider putting MIDI key contacts under all keys & pedals and then forgo the actual pipes in lieu of a computer platform called the Hauptwerk system. In the end you will all be much happier with the sound of the organ.

As an organist who has been part of several organ rebuilding and renovating projects, I can tell that you are going about things in a wonderful and careful way. Congratulations. You'll be very surprised at how much you get done in another week. Assembling the organ is much faster than building one. Once the pipes are in the process of "voicing" them, and tuning will take a while. At least two weeks, depending on what needs to be done. All my best wishes to you and the whole team. This is a magnificent task, and we're all excited to see how it turns out. Are the specifications of the organ available? That is, the names of the stops on the Great, Swell and Pedal. Best wishes always. It's Thanksgiving time for us in the USA. And I give thanks for all of you and your efforts to bring this organ back to life.

Billy, the organ was meant to be at the convent. Placing it at the alter, it is a perfect spot . You all have to be so pleased with the work being done. Can’t wait to hear the organ “sing” to us. Well done.

Billy you could start building a business relationship with the local businesses in the town while you're doing up the convent and fund some of the renovations with summer events in the convent courtyard or gardens when they are finished or even hire out the chapel for local events .

I think a Brocante is the obvious casual event considering it is how Billy and Ryan met when Billy had a Brocante stall way back when.

You must be so proud of your man! Doing a sterling job with Michael. I love Pip, you have a great talent too, maybe make some to sell with the book? (I understand it's a huge ammount of work, time consuming too with your already busy schedule and kids), maybe train some one to help? Love and Blessings from Amsterdam NL xxx

The blessings just continue to follow this wonderful gift through it's journey. Welcome Martin, many thanks to you for bringing your craftsmanship and passion to help this group restore the organ. Just hearing you speak of all the work that goes into making one was wonderful to hear. I know this organ will continue to draw blessings toward it once it is fully restored. The community is going to just love it & I can see a few ideas of events and things especially at Christmas!!

A mammoth task, however, little by little the organ is taking shape. It is all very interesting. And your dad is determined to have his veggie garden. How wonderful.
