Yannis is a talented man! When you finish the organ, I think you need an engraved brass plate to memorialize the restoration - to include where it came from, the names of all of those who worked to restore it, and the dates. We certainly appreciate your work, but future generations need to be made aware.

Today I want to say how amazing your dad is! He quietly watches what is going on. He is always ready to lend a hand! I think he allows the younger ones to figure it out so they learn, while already figuring it out for himself. He is a gem, and his family has benefited by his guidance! Hats off to him!

Right now I`m living for the Pethericks. Seriously. At the end of the day when I`m just about finished with November in Britain, I can`t think of a better way to wind down and relax watching this show. I love being transported to rural France every evening and seeing such a really lovely bunch of people come together to make something so beautiful happen and feel so included in the processes. It`s been lovely meeting the Moons. Appreciating Alex creating the visual vibe. Yanis is well...... Adorable and irreplaceable. Daddy Petherick is inspirational and all his children are an absolute credit to him. And... Simon will be back in a few weeks!! *wibble* I feel slightly overwhelmed......

Loving this restoration. Love Alex's quality work. Love Duncan for being the sparky extraordinaire. Love Yiannis for everything. Love Nick for his skills and knowledge. Love all the Pethericks for being fantastic. Love Pip for his leadership skills. I find it very comforting to think that this lovely organ will still be singing her heart out long after we have all died. Just watching her being restored is enough. ❤

Small points to note; the bellows will be loaded with (usually) cast iron weights to get the required pressure (probably about 3 inches water gauge) and that will find more leaks! Secondly, the little valve on top of the bellows is (or should be) connected to the floor of the bellows via a cord such that, if there is excess wind, the valve is pulled open. This avoids the risk of raising the bellows too high which could damage the leatherwork. Hope this helps.

" WOW" no words can describe what we are watching. When you were in the UK, taking the organ apart bit by bit, I thought how in the world, would you ever put this massive thing back together. When Nick called it uncharted territory, boy he wasn't kidding, and here we are. You have figured not only how to get it back together, (so far) you even figured out how to make repairs and adjustments. The organ team is "truly amazing, and you all should be so proud of what you have accomplished. I know we all are. Well done guys. Lots of love from N.Y.

We inherited an old pump organ - a family heirloom that had been carted back and forth across country several times. By the time it came to us the organ part was in pieces lying on its back. It was hopeless looking. We unloaded it onto the garage floor and I was at a loss as to what to do. After looking at it for a week, I told my husband, what if we shift this piece over and everything kind of fell into place. It took me a while to figure out all the connections, but finally it was all put together. My mother donated an antique thin leather glove to use in patching the bellows. It has worked well for over 20 years.

Loved every minute of this, and there will be so much more to come after the organ - the kitchen, the library, the elevator (that should be a good series!), the upstairs rooms and reconfiguring of the horrible hallways, figuring out what to do with the bar, and the humongous cabinet in the chapel - I can't imagine life without you all, thank you so much for creating this to share with us all. It is a magnificent job that you are doing to take apart the organ, transport it, and put it back together. I can't imagine doing that, especially putting it back together. I can take apart but not good at putting back. If it were mine, and it's not, I would not paint it. The color of the wood shows it's age and history. It's an old organ being placed in an old chapel. To me, a freshly painted organ might match colors of the chapel but wouldn't look true, and maybe a coat of paint could seal the wood and slightly change the natural tone, I don't know if this is possible or not. I would try to maybe oil and wax the wood to bring out it's natural look. But as I wrote, that is me and not you. I think whatever you do is good for this awesome undertaking.
