4:09 this is actually a mechanic in wizard101 and it works exactly how you’d expect. Pets in that game are really stupid unless you breed a perfect pedigree pet.

I think they definitely tried to design it as grindy as possible with the ability to speed it up using $$$ but even then it still isn't enjoyable regularly

Some general thoughts- Doodles being able to revive would have added such a huge draw to them. Now I don't think that means they should be able to negate death for turns on end, but maybe a once-a-battle little boost of a few laff would be absolutely crazy! Or, if that's pushing it- even making revival a random chance would have been fantastic. The egg system could have had a lot of draw, and kept the whole "the only good doodles are in ddl" thing from being true- if you got eggs instead of outright buying doodles, you could (I'm assuming) breed for better and better doodles ala Pokemon- this would let you get different personality traits, maybe this could've even been a more engaging way to add tricks and training tricks! I think something like the frisbee fetch would have likely been tied to the pie-throwing mechanic from sbhq, a simple way to make a new feature from existing assets. The new pet types would have been interesting to see, but ultimately without a mechanical difference, I think we were best off with just doodles and their varying patterns. Those last two minigames sound really appealing to me personally, and yet again use a lot of existing assets (canon minigame/party canons, fishing ui, I can even imagine them using the camera angle from the umbrella minigame for doodle hop!) Overall of course I wish we saw these features- and personally I feel like Toontown overall ended up vastly mishandled by Disney. I absolutely love the game, I played it all the way back when it first launched when I was a kid so of course I love it! That said the lack of resources given to the team to expedite further expansion will forever leave me feeling a little miffed about what could have been.

I watch videos on Toontown scrapped content and I find myself thinking if I had experience in coding, I’d love to create a Toontown server with these things. But then I remember I don’t have a clue how to code and they might have copyright on a few things. Also, the “doodles turn into spheres” is based off of the “flamingo golf” in the movie Alice in Wonderland.

I believe the "increase sense of urgency for trialers to subscribe" and "hatching timing can be adjusted for maximum pull on trialers" lines refer to the fact that during the time the document was written, Toontown Online was pay-to-play, meaning you had to have a subscription to play the game. You could however, start an account with a 3-day free trial, after which you'd have to pay to continue playing on the account. So I'm guessing they wanted to instill a sense of not only abandoning your toon when you end your trial without getting a subscription, but also your doodle. It'd also explain why every toon would be given an egg to every toon when they're created.

I dont think the revive would've been too overpowered. Toon-up unites already kind of serve that purpose in a way, only difference being that you have to do it before the fact, so you have to be quick. If the chance was low enough or it was hard enough to get, it would just be another tool in your arsenal. Especially if it only healed you to 1 laff.
