What made me leave catholicism is when my priest during his homily at Christmas told us that Jesus wasn't actually born but instead beamed out of mary and appeared in her arms. The loops these people go through!

Be careful with him tho! I say this in love, James white is often arrogant in his treatment of church history and uses it to push his own end. I’d recommend you first read the Church fathers yourself before having their insights explained away. Or at least do yourself the favor to ALSO hear an Orthodox teach the histroy of the church so you can see both sides honestly. I personally have read over 50 full works from the Fathers and see that they are in stark opposition to James White’s theology. Much love and prayer!

Thanks for calling all this out - again. Most of us wouldn’t know where to begin. Having left the RC church behind me I know what it ls like to have folk impress upon you how informed they are, so you don’t need to think for yourself. How could you? Tradition and previous bastions of “the church” have done all the heavy lifting. You are just one person - how can you inform yourself? Being a Christian is difficult with so many “experts” telling you someone else is wrong or that your understanding of x y and z is misinformed. Thank you for helping us steer an even keel. God would not allow Blessed Mary and St. Joseph to commit the Vow of Celibacy freely while they are under OATH to God by the Sacrament of Matrimony or Marriage Vow... it would be UNHOLY to do the ACT of Celibacy while under their Marriage Vow... Take Note: ... before Angel Gabriel visited her to do the task offered to her voluntarily, she was already BETHROTAL (Jewish Pre-nuptial marriage) to St. Joseph... That was a really interesting video. The Quran has borrowed these stories and placed them into that book (which is co-eternal with Allah, by the way). The story of the infant Jesus beaming out of Mary's womb is something they teach and now we know where they got the story. Islam is Gnosticism too, as is Jehovah's Witnessism. Many modern bible scholars are converting to Gnosticism too. The newer translations are decidedly Gnostic. Seems like everybody wants to get into the act of dethroning the King these days.

Wow! Thanks for that little bit of history, Mr. White. All those in the comments below, who are trying to defend the perpetual virginity of Mary - please read the early part of Luke's gospel (chapter 2) which so simply and plainly shows us that our Lord Jesus was BORN OF MARY. Also, that He was her FIRSTBORN. The term "born of" implies that Mary "bore Jesus." If this had been some sort of supernatural occurrence where Mary's body would not have been changed by the birthing process - SURELY, Luke -- the doctor who wrote this gospel -- would have indicated that, since he explains in Luke 1:3, that he decided, after investigating accurately to write it down in an orderly sequence. Why, oh why, can't those of us who profess to be believers in the bible, simply ... "believe the bible"? Life is too short and eternity too long for us to blindly go by myths and ex-scriptural heresies on which to lay our eternal souls. I'm supposing that neither James White's nor my explanation here would change any Roman Catholic's mind who is bent on believing everything that the Vatican posits, but, for what it's worth ... Jesus is literally compared to Adam (as well as many “perfect versions of Old Testament such as Jonah) in scripture, whereas the Mary comparisons have to assume Mary’s importance and project it onto things in order to get the doctrine.

Concept of Jesus "beaming out" did not come from Gnosticism. Not everything in Gnostic writings were unorthodox. Although some Gnostic writings contained the virgin birth, it does not follow that the concept of virgin birth originated from Gnosticism.

But i hope the doctrine of immaculate conception of Mary will be helpful as well. *Immaculate conception of Mary* This dogma means Mary was conceived without sin. she had neither original sin nor personal sin. The doctrine can be formulated by studying the typology in the old testament. We believe that the original sin is transmitted through flesh and blood from Adam and Eve to their progeny. So, if Mary had inherited the original sin from her parents, then Jesus too will inherit it from Mary because Jesus took his flesh and blood from her. However, we all believe Jesus was without sin. This begs the question of where and how did the transmission of the original sin stop in the case of Jesus. Catholics believe the New Testament is superior to the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, we have Adam and Eve created without sin. In the New Testament, we have Jesus and Mary. If Jesus is the new Adam and Mary is the new Eve, we believe Jesus and Mary will be superior to / better than Adam and Eve and so they must be without sin. Adam and Eve succumbed to temptation. The serpent defeated them. But we read that the devil could not tempt Jesus when he was fasting in the desert for 40 days. We read in Revelation chapter 12 that the Woman defeated the dragon, meaning the Dragon could not make Mary fall into sin. Mary defeated had the Dragon, the ancient Serpent. So if Mary is superior to Eve, it means that there is no sin in Mary. In Luke gospel we read that Angel Gabriel addressed Mary as hail full of grace (hail, highly favoured one in Protestant Bible) even before Mary had said anything. This indicated that God had bestowed full of grace (overflowing grace) on Mary right from her conception. Paul said that God's grace is sufficient for him to overcome the affliction of the thorn in his flesh. Now, if we are to believe God's grace can help us overcome trials and temptations, won't God's full of grace keep Mary free from all sins and temptations? In Revelation chapter 12, the woman received outside help such that the dragon could not defeat her. This outside help is God's intervention, God's grace. God preserved and protected Mary for the sake of Jesus. God will not be mocked, right? So, God will not let the Devil mock him by saying that he had defeated Jesus' mother Mary? For the sake of his own honour, God will create Mary immaculate and keep her free from original sin or personal sin. Catholics view Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant. She had in her womb Jesus Christ the word of God, Jesus Christ the high priest, and Jesus Christ who gave his flesh for us to eat. This corresponds to the Old Ark of the Covenant which had the stone tablets of the 10 commandments, Aaron's stick that sprouted leaves, and the manna. The Ark was so holy that those 70 men who had peeped into it were instantly killed by God. In another instance, a man who tried to catch hold of the Ark from falling from a moving bullock cart was also instantly killed by God. So, if the Old Ark is so holy because of God's presence overshadowing it such that defiled hands can't touch it due to God's protection, the holy spirit who overshadowed Mary will keep her holy and undefiled as well. Israelites took the Ark of the covenant box to war. Mary is waging war against the dragon to protect us which we read in Revelation chapter 12. For Isaiah to prophesy the coming of Jesus Christ, in a vision, the lips of Isaiah was cleansed with a live coal taken from the temple in heaven. To be the forerunner of Jesus Christ, John the Baptist was filled with the holy spirit even from his mother's womb. Thus, if God has taken this much of care to make Isaiah and John the Baptist holy in order to prepare the way for Jesus, how much more will he keep Mary holy such that she will be fit to bear the holy child Jesus? Catholics view that it is most fitting that holy things be kept in a holy vessel. Thus, Mary must be made fit to bear the holy child Jesus. With God's full of grace, she defeated the dragon. Eve brought hate, sin, enmity and death but Mary brought redemption, life, love, peace and joy through her son Jesus. Mary is immaculate, the masterpiece of God.

The earliest I found was a comment from Clement of Alexandria saying "But, as appears, many even down to our time regard Mary, on account of the birth of her child, as having been in the perpetual state, although she was not. For some say that, she after she brought forth, she was found, when examined to be a virgin" this quote is ironically in a chapter titled "scripture the criterion by which truth and heresy are distinguished" of his book "The Stomata, or Miscellanies" you can find the full writing on Bible Hub

I encourage you to start studying the bible through Historical Contextual hermeneutics and Exegesis through context. Show me the verse where the scriptures say Mary is the mother of God. You can't it is made up from the Catholic church. In the New testament Mary is only ever called the mother of the Lord. Not God. Mary is the mother of Yashua in his flesh not in his divinity.

If you search about a Sanskrit text called the Mahabharata, written somewhere between 300 BC and 1000 BC, and a male character in it called "Karna" and you will find out how a woman can give birth and remain a virgin. Either the Biblical story of Mary was derived from this or God is very imitative of Sanskrit writers, which would not be a particularly god look. For those who don't want to invest the time, I'll give a synopsis. A woman named Kunti used a mantra to summon the god of the sun, called Surya. He made love with her and produced a son, and then he restored her virginity. Being unmarried, she put the baby in a basket coated with wax and put it in the river Ganges. It was found by a charioteer and his wife who adopted the baby. Cool story huh?

The root of the problem is that Calvinists believe that all of God's creation is, at its heart, evil and so any honor or hyperdulia (as is the case with our Lord's mother) to a creature is repugnant. This is why Calvinists are essentially modern-day Gnostics.
