I always believed that Parseltongue had Egyptian roots until it somehow assimilated itself in ancient Greece, because there was an Egyptian goddess with a cobra's head named Meretseger, and I believe she gave the gift of Parseltongue to certain Egyptian wizards and witches and taught them the language and helped them establish its magical properties. And if there were Parselmouths that were South American, Indian, and Native American, they might be revered as healers and/or seers, highly contradicting what most of British wizardkind believes based on it being condemned as a sign of "dark forces."

in the books his body was already falling apart before he died... so no its not nagini. its a physical representation of the torture his soul endured at his hand in order to become immortal.
@THEN00BINATORX32 жыл бұрын
also nagini wasnt a horcrux until late in the book series. when he was applying at hogwarts for the DA professor job, he was already losing his humanlike appearance. so no its definitely not because he was half nagini... his body was just reflecting the darkness that consumed him. serpents are representations of evil going all the way back to even the creation of the book of Genesis. a serpent tempted Eve with the gift of knowledge. dragons in medieval artwork are drawn to represent evil, and greed
@technoloverish Жыл бұрын
This is kind of an old video now, but I'd like to chime in anyway:) So personally, I don't necessarily feel that there's sufficient evidence that Nagini being a horcrux caused the snake-like look for Voldemort. In the first book, which is before Nagini became a horcux, Voldemort is described as having a chalk-white face, glaring red eyes, and slits for nostrils. When he gets his body back in the fourth book, he's described almost exactly the same way. I believe his snake-like appearance was likely meant to be symbolic of just how much humanity he had lost from splitting his soul and pushing the boundaries of magic, and how monstrous he truly had always been on the inside

Answers to these questions, just like to most others linked to the Harry Potter lore, are rather simple. Both the origins of Parseltongue and the reason for Voldemort's snake look weren't thought through by J.K. She is a good writer, but still just a human. She wrote what she thought sounded cool and made sense. When you try to find the hidden lore, you're just creating something that can somewhat fit the plot hole.

The theory is interesting but what you state to support it isn't rock solid. Now I have some problems with the push in 50% and receive 50% soul with a snake part, mainly because snakes would have souls, but we'll just go along with it. My problem would be the fundamentals of the tearing of the soul. If the 50% of the " basilisk soul " was replacing the 50% that was put into the snake and it was passed down that way, then why don't any of his children already look snakish to start out with if hes missing 50% of his human soul and instead has 50% snake soul? And with the filtration of the soul, why worry? Voldemort can speak parseltounge with barely any of soul, so you'd never have to worry about the power dying out because of that. Backtracking here on the soul bit. And how is the soul composition made up? Is it just half basilisk half human? It couldn't be like that because when you make a hocrux with an inanimate object, what part of the soul gets torn? Wouldn't voldemort eventually lose parseltounge since at that point the snake soul would be very diluted over a thousand years and that he tore his soul apart to the point he almost has no soul. And something else that doesn't make sense. Now Souls just can't "mix" since part of the voldemort soul that latched on to harry never just pooled in with the rest of Harry's soul because voldemort killed his own soul when he tried to kill harry, but Harry's soul was still intact. That would mean that the 50% basilisk soul and the 50% human soul could just never mix and be one whole soul. Perhaps it would be more plausible that there is no 50% give and take soul exchange when making a hocrux, and instead parseltounge was woven into the very soul of a person, but not by means of a hocrux. Plus Voldmeort was already starting to look like a snake decades before his hocrux with Nagini. So there's that

You know what makes the Horcrux so horrendous? It's the most serious form of dark magic that only a few or none dare speak of it. It was mostly kept a secret from the magical world and was wiped and banned from being studied at Hogwarts. Tampering with one's soul like that can lead to some serious consequences, and look where it got Voldemort. The first law of the Fundamental Laws of Magic clearly states "Tamper with the deepest mysteries, the source of life, the essence of self, only if prepared for consequences of the most extreme and dangerous kind".

There are a number of stories from Classical myth about the ability to communicate with animals, often specifically serpents, see: Melampus (Melampos) although your hypothesis does make a great deal of sense. Oracles, too were often attested to speak to or through serpents, though these communications were positive and intended for healing. The shrine of Asclepius (Asklepios) was ons, the Oracle of Delphi another. Why Rowling flipped the script 180 and made yakking to snakes a negative--or perhaps APPEARED to, I will never understand.

There is one more theory...kind of. Rowling admits she was advised by her editor not to include the whole transformation of Voldemort in the fourth book because it may repel or horrify the readers. She admits that part of creating Riddle's new body is so disgusting so she agrees to exclude it from the book. We can only guess what could be but a friend of mine recently shared her theory. Remember when Voldemort ordered Wormtail to MILK Nagini? Yes, usually extracting venom from the snake is called milking but what if there is a more literal meaning to the phrase? We know who Nagini is and we know that after attacking Harry Voldemort is so weak, almost a ghost. When possessing Quirell he was still in a spirit form...of a sort. And we know that Wormtail caretaking brought him to this fragile state of some kind of body. But Petter is not capable of creating a body for his master. There was a hint that he feeds from Nagini and at first we'd suppose that her venom could be used somehow to sustain him. But what if Peter actually MILKED Nagini? Because she gave birth to this weak form of Voldemort and AFTER that he made her a Horcrux. THAT will definitely explain his appearance and it is definitely disgusting. Mindblowing, huh?

"The language can't be learned or taught... but certain phrases can be memorised if repeated enough" These are contradictory statements, it may be difficult, but if one knew someone who spoke parseltongue, and heard them speak often enough, they could pick up on it, that's how Ron learned a few words.
@gaelicprincess49374 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Dumbledore learned Parseltongue through the Gaunt memories in the Pensieve.

Hello, love your videos! I would also add that when Voldy did not have a body, he was seen to be feeding on a unicorn. This could also have attributed to his later appearance, especially what Hagrid mentions what happens to the soul when one feeds on a unicorn. He could have been regressing already, and when he used Harry to resurrect, used his connection which might have been to parseltongue and his want for pureblood that we know he strived for, especially with the Gaunt background and Slytherin himself. His mind, seeking a connection could have lead to this, with the more 'permanence' attributed to the unicorns. Hope this makes sense! Cannot wait until the next video!

Maybe also the fact that Voldemort drank nagini’s milk while he was weak helped. I remember him ordering wormtail to milk her.

Fahad AlAhmed typically “milking” a snake means removing the venom. They do not produce milk.

If Harpo the Foul made his Basalisk a Horcrux then how did he die?? In theory he would be immortal

Didn't Voldemort look like that as soon as he got resurrected? Which was before Nagini appeared and became a horcrux

So if we assume this is correct and “you can’t put something in without pushing something out” what was pushed out of Harry?
@WTKB824 жыл бұрын
Daktylon Harry wasn’t a horcrux. JK Rowling has said this multiple times yet people seem to forget it. He had a bit of Voldemort’s soul in him but she says being a horcrux requires rituals and spells that have to be done intentionally. Harry doesn’t count as a horcrux
@DrankenDune4 жыл бұрын
B E He wasn’t a horcrux but he still had part of a soul inside him. I’m just trying to understand why something is getting “pushed out” under any circumstances. We aren’t disagreeing I think you just misunderstood the point.
@WTKB824 жыл бұрын
Daktylon I know, I’m just saying I think his point is specifically for horcruxes. Putting something in and binding ur life to this world with whatever dark magic and rituals it involves to keep your life tethered might push something else out. Because Harry isn’t a true horcrux it may not have applied to him. We know Voldemort also inhabited creatures before he inhabited professor quarrel and none of those were her referred to as horcruxes nor does it seem something was “pushed out” of quirrel
@DrankenDune4 жыл бұрын
B E Even though he wasn’t a horcrux it was still bound to him so I don’t see how it would be different unless it’s specifically something in the ritual process that removes part of the vessel

So…. if Lord Voldemort only had 1/7 part of his soul left when he created Nagini, he should be about 14% looking like Tom Riddle, about 43% as a reticulated Python or Ground Boa (opinions there difference) and about 43% Asian. I miss the Asian part. How do you explain that?
@Mariannekjuly1965214 жыл бұрын
And now in Crimes of Gridenwald...the maladictus Nagini becoming part of Voldemort via his last horcrux? God.. It's too horrific to even contemplate. And how 'not so far' apart are these timelines between Grindenwald and Voldemort? Albus Dumbledore must've known much more than he'd ever told anyone, sensing what Tom Riddle was becoming. And so soon after destroying the Gridenwald, the man he once loved.
@SKS_The_Pomu4 жыл бұрын
So does that mean Herpo the Foul was potentially still alive until the Basilisk died in the Chamber of Secrets??? Would he surpass Nicholas Flamel as the oldest known wizard? Or would it be different because Flamel lengthened his lifespan with the Philosophers Stone, rather than a Horcrux? Love your theory, by the way. It fits well.
@victorvvc19254 жыл бұрын
So you say he looks like Nagini, but I remember he had all these snake-like features when he was part of Quirrel's nape... he didn't know Nagini by that time, did he? I also remember that Voldy spend a lot of time living in the body of some snakes he possessed, even Nagini was one of them (maybe she's stronger cuz, apparently, she's a human in the body of a snake)... Anyway, maybe that's why he looks so much like a snake, cuz he lived in their bodies for a very long time... O maybe he's part reptilian (like the royal family! 🤭)
@AshGreninja-xi9xi4 жыл бұрын
Because nagini was once a human did her maludictus transformation spread to voldemort Meaning that if he had turned a different snake in his horcrux he would be less snake like and more human
@kataw04044 жыл бұрын
One thing I just thought of. It is obvious that you don't have to be a descendant of Slytherin to open the chamber, you just have to say open in parseltongue. So, why couldn't the Basilisk open it or some random snake? Is it only wizards who can? Could Nagini have opened it?
@gidzmobug23234 жыл бұрын
Harry knew how to speak Parseltongue because a bit of Voldemort got into him when Voldemort tried to kill him. The curse rebiunded, resulting in the mark on Harry's forehead and Voldemort's temporary diminishment. Harry became a Horcrux.

What do you think happened to such a prestigious pure blood family that the Gaunts didn't catch at least the outcast among the other pureblood families? Why wasn't Morfin breeding more purebloods? And what would have become of Merope Gaunt if she hadn't gone for Tom Riddle Sr?
