Professor Quirinus Quirrel as we know was quite a timid man. He was someone who definitely seemed to have some issues and I don’t just mean his stuttering speech. Behind his shy and what appears to be nervous nature, Quirrell had a deeper motive, he was the supporting vessel for Voldemort in order for the dark lord to continue to sustain life, something that was a shock to discover but when we analyse the mans character and what he went through, actually doesn’t seem so surprising so thats the question I’m going to answer today. Why did Quirrell join Voldemort in the first place? Lets take a look in todays video.

Voldemort was basically an evil spirit and he possessed Quirrell like a demon would. When Quirrell died the possessing spirit vacated the body, but continued to exist as a disembodied spirit.

That spirit then later created a temporary body by making a potion from unicorn blood and nagini's venom, somewhere between book 3 and 4. Then in book 4 peter pettigrew and Barty crouch Jr helped him in restoring his full body.

On top of that just cause James bullied Snape it does not give him a reason to be so rude to Harry. He also revealed Lupin's secret over an issue from when he was a student. From Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix (Snape's worst memory), the way Lupin did not laugh at James' rude comment towards Snape leads to the thought that he never wanted to bully Snape. Oh ya and Snape was a death eater, he told Voldemort about the prophecy (Pettigrew told him the Potter's location) meaning all the abuse Harry suffered from the Dursley's, and being parentless, is partly Snape's fault.

And well no, I don't think he's a Horcrux, he was more of a temporary vessel, like how he was using animals to travel. And he never done the prerequisite to make a Horcrux before entering Quirrel, he never murdered. Further more proof was that his soul escaped before the vessel died, a Horcrux can't do that, as the piece of soul dies upon the breach of its container, which never happened in this instance as this was the same soul piece that returned to a bodily form in Goblet of Fire, thus meaning Quirrell was a vessel not a Horcrux

Because it says that a Horcrux relies on the container to be not breached in order for that piece of soul to survive. As soon as the container is breached that soul piece dies as it cannot live outside its host, and it can't leave its vessel. The piece of Voldy in Quirrell was the same that was restored to a body in GoF, meaning it survived breaking free of its host which soul pieces split into Horcruxes can't do. So due to the behaviour of the soul being different to that of which are split into Horcruxes confirms that Quirrell wasn't a Horcrux

Where are you getting this information? I was under the impression that Quirrell was a good guy who encountered Voldy's spirit unexpectedly, and perhaps not realizing the danger it represented, and thus fell under his influence. I never heard the idea before that he was deliberately seeking Voldy to learn from him. At the end of Philosopher's Stone, he drops the timid, stuttering act. Are you saying that he couldn't have done this normally without the aid of V living on the back of his head? As I always understood it, Quirrell was a naturally curious person, and happened to encounter V's spirit somehow, and investigated the phenomenon out of academic interest. And before he knew what was happening, V possessed him and installed himself on the back of his head. Thus, a good man was turned to evil by a very strong-willed, and very powerful magical spirit.

I never thought of him as a horcrux because that process involves a few things 1. Murder and potential other things 2. Splitting the soul 3. Then putting it in someone or something dormant till needed. The portions of soul in Harry and even Nagini weren’t actively making decisions or even really communicating with the host. I have always thought more of it as a possession, like a demon or even a parasite. In biology there are symbiotic relationships Voldemort/Quirell was like a parasitic relationship, Quirell the host is only harmed (and like in biology the host can even think they are benefitting) and the parasite is benefitting from the relationship. The only way the host survives is to compensate for what it’s losing (unicorn blood), the parasite then either kills the host or leaves the host for a new one.

No. This was the core essence of Voldemort, the center of what remained of his soul. The frame of the soul, however diminished by his actions, is what took over Quirrell. A mere fragment placed by whatever means and left unattended would not have drained QQ so badly, nor would it have been able to direct him so readily. In a way, the soul's frame is like an extra piece that cannot be fragmented. To use a cartoon analogy, it's like in Tex Avery's shorts when a character would shatter from the inside like a mirror, leaving only their pencil outline. That plus the remaining soul of Voldemort (which would be diminished even further after his rebirth) is what made Quirrell a doomed pawn.

I wondered whether I’d be meeting you here Potter” But I thought - Snape - “ “Severus?”, Quirrell laughed and it wasn’t his usual quivering treble either but cold and sharp. “Yes, Severus does seem the type doesn’t he? Quirrell didn't leave Hogwarts to specifically look for Voldemort. He left for a year to get first-hand experience.

I never understand that though, you always hear about what I call kidults like this. I used to be shy and wanted to be different, at one point I also wanted to be popular, just so I could avoid stuff in my head. But I never even contemplated doing people wrong, cuz whenever I'd get angry I'd remember the good people in my life there is always some, then I learnt the truth, just be happy with yourself and your friends, life just plays out then and it can be fun.

He wasn't a horcrux he was a vessel. Im pretty sure if the plan had worked, he would have been consumed by the process of restoring Voldemort. In a way he was a bit like Jenny when her life was being drained out of him. He was a dead man no matter what happened next.

I'd probably say Quirrell is not a Horcrux as the creation of a Horcrux involves the splitting of a person's soul and Voldemort's soul to my knowledge was not split when it entered Quirrell. The process seems more akin to a possession or a parasite latching onto a host body, transferring the whole of whatever remained of Voldemort that was not already stored in Horcruxes at that time into Quirrell.

I don't think it really counts as a Horcrux, even as a temporary one. If he was, Voldemort would have perished together with Quirrell as when an item or being that holds a Horcrux is destroyed, the soul piece is destroyed as well. Harry is the rare exception of the being that survived the destruction of the Horcrux inside him, though this could be due to Elder Wand not wanting to kill his true master and Harry accepting his death prior towards being murdered, which might have tapped into another form of ancient magic... We also know that the presence of a soul piece in a Horcrux doesn't deteriorate the item or being in question, while Quirrel needed Unicorn Blood to sustain himself, another hint that this isn't a Horcrux situation. What was Quirinus Quirrel if not a Horcrux? Possessed. Quirrel was a Possessed one. In the Goblet of Fire, Voldemort recounts his survival all these years and he tells his Death Eaters that he was still able to possess animals though they proved pretty useless and it did shorten their life span and later he took possession of Quirrel and later contemplated possessing Peter Pettigrew if he hadn't been assumed dead for 13 years and Bertha Jonkins if she was too ruined after his interrogation of her. It is also mentioned in this novel that he could do, even back when he had his own physical form as it was something he still could do (it was his last remaining power) and in The Order of the Phoenix, he proved this by taking both control of Nagini and Harry while having a physical body. I believe that a Horcrux and Possessive soul never were meant to be the same thing, though both are very dark forms of magic.

i noticed that percy jackson and the lightning thief was on netflix in australia, if you live in a place with that movie or the second one on netflix don’t watch either of them unless you’ve read the books, they’re very inaccurate and they fandom doesn’t refer to them as the percy jackson movies, because they have a completely different plot, we call them the perry johnson movies

when quirrell was a student he was bullied for his nervous demeanor. he was extremely intelligent but lacked application skills, and was seen as weak by his peers, even into adulthood. voldemort took advantage of his insecurity and twisted quirrell into someone he wasn’t. his story is similar to ginnys from the second book in that regard. it is also stated that quirrell attempted to fight back multiple times, but with voldemort draining his energy, he was too weak to succeed. he’s a genuinely interesting character who deserves more credit than the fandom gives him. seeing people compare him to pettigrew is a bit annoying, as peter willingly joined voldemort, quirrell didnt.

Is this the actually lore? Sounds more you applying your own logic on it.. From what I understand he found Voldermort in the bulgerian forest when conducting studies there, nothing more was said. He probally convinced him one way or another to be his vessel.
