Sometime in the early 00's, I can't recall the exact year, Florida International University had some items on display from the Dr Eric Williams Memorial Collection. Among them was a signed copy of "Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung" (the Little Red Book) that was gifted to Dr Williams.

@@868media5 It's true - I saw it. I only mentioned it as you highlighted the memorial collection in your video; I actually thought we would get to see it. The item was a gift as part of the traditional exchange of tokens between world leaders. Also on display at FIU was the "Key to the City of Jerusalem" gifted from Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion of Israel. Did you visit the (Eric Williams) collection at UWI? And if you did, could you tell me if those items were on display? I'm asking because I always wondered where they ended up, or retains possession of them.

I have now seen both. You are very expressive, succinct and factual. I appreciate your attempt at this China/T&T expose and look forward to far more poignant facts, but you are likely being prudent avoiding backlash. The furtherance of this expose hopefully encourages relevant and serious discussions that empowers each of us to act to protect our T&T. But this would truly be revolutionary for Trinis indeed! I for one am a 100% open supporter of the Hong Kong Protests. The big Chinese hand does need to be slapped on its rest quite decidedly.

You highlighted the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in reference to Chinese constructed projects, but it is not. BLCA was constructed mostly by Hafeez Karamath Limited, a local contractor and many of the smaller contractors were local as well.

@8:23 Do you have an actual critique of the Chinese construction projects? For example: The materials used are of poor quality, the bids are overinflated (compared to similar projects done for less), under utilization of domestic contributions, if corruption exist is it from the Chinese or is it domestic, ect. For change to occur a problem usually needs to be clearly defined, while being vague only helps to foster the environment that created the problem to continue.

Thanks for this Lance. All the Chinese construction to date are of very poor quality for the cost. It is obvious and we know that both Manning and Camala were/are corrupt individuals who by commissioning these projects, used it to fill their pockets and pin their name against giant projects .The least of their thoughts whilst in power was the people of Trinidad and Tobago and ensuring mammoth structutes that will last for generation to come. All the Chinese construction looks in need of urgent repair and all have serious design faults. None have taken account of the Trinidad ecosystem and creating pockets of green spaces, an essential part of any major construction since the 80's and more so now. None of the buildings provide adequate toilet facilities, bars, resturants or space for relaxation.

If you think that only Chinese construction and over budgetted , you should look at the over budgetted construction of the Montreal Olympic site, large slabs of concrete falling on pedestrians.. The Olympic Stadium construction costs were estimated at 124MC$, but sky-rocketed to 839MC$ (“final” costs as of 1976), an eye-watering 570% increase. Let's go to Boston , a construction of a tunnel...The investigation, which found faulty assemblies, was sparked by the July 10 death of a 39-year-old woman after 12 tons of cement ceiling panels fell on the car her husband was driving inside the I-90 connector tunnel more than two weeks ago. As a result, several portions of Boston’s $14.6 billion Big Dig/Central Artery Tunnel Project have been shut down. Ongoing investigations by federal and state officials are uncovering additional problems almost on a daily basis. On July 12, according to a Boston Globe report, inspectors found at least 60 faulty bolt fixtures in the ceiling of the tunnel. On that same day, Attorney General Tom Reilly says tests conducted in 1999 showed that the ceiling bolts had a tendency to come loose. The Inspector General’s Report discloses several findings which would indicate a problem could occur: poor design specifications, paying contractors to test improperly installed anchor bolts and lack of consultation with tunnel designers before allowing contractors to drill through steel reinforcements in the tunnel roof. Oct 22, 2015 - Hundreds of cracked construction nuts have been found within Boston's Big Dig tunnel system. And, this isn't the first problem for the highway project that was completed just a few years ago. Highway Administrator Tom Tinlin disclosed Wednesday more than 100,000 nuts have been inspected. The Sydney Opera House, which was originally expected to cost just $7 million and open by Australia Day 1963, was eventually completed 10 years late for around $102 million - almost 14 times over budget. The naming follows decades of criticism about the way the project was managed, though few deny its iconic value....1,457% OVER Budgetted. The entire construction period of the Sydney Opera House was beset with problems. First, the podium was found to be not strong enough to support the shells and needed extensive reworking as early as 1963. Then the problem of the shells, which were elliptical, parabolic and finally spherical, took six years to resolve Denver International Airport, the Mile High City's sprawling airport built from scratch 24 miles from the heart of the city, opened Feb. 28, 1995. It was 16 months overdue and $2 billion over its original $2.9 billion budget.Mar 1, 2020. At random testing around the airport, traces of ASR (alkali-selica reaction) was found in the concrete , ASR causes concrete to swell, crack and weaken. So if ever you are in Denver airport , keep looking up for falling concrete. In fact, worldwide management consulting firm McKinsey & Company estimated in 2016 that large construction projects are typically completed 80 percent over budget and take 20 percent longer than originally scheduled. Chinese contractors had no dealings with these projects ---> Boston's Tunnel, Sydney opera house , Denver Inter Airport. The Budget for the construction of the building is $500 million, According to the NAPA's website one states that it will take another 10% ($50 million) to fix the problems , another says $80 million, now who is the perfect contractor???

The title itself is based on a false premise because Trinidad and Tobago is not now nor has it ever been 'dependent' on China.

@2:25 Dude WTF. The history of China is NOT sketchy 🤦🏼‍♂️, even if you were referring to the PRC it’s history isn’t sketchy. My family had to escape Cuba so I’m a staunch anti-communist and definitely no friend of the CCP which runs the PRC. Regardless of my biases against the CCP, I don’t let it cloud by ability to be objective about PRC related topic but it’s clear that you do. Even a casual knowledge of how citizens have been treated by various forms of government throughout history will unfortunately show that the actions of the CCP in the PRC to be the norm.
