Trinidad and Tobago has received asylum requests - from about 3,300 Venezuelans struggling to survive amid a political crisis and harsh recession at home, but the influx of migrants is causing anxiety over whether there are enough jobs and social services to go round.

Up to last week, we registered 15,000,Venezuelans for amnesty. But international human rights bodies that run on emotions and not logic will demand that we take in more and more. We will deplete all our resources helping and will be left with nothing to help ourselves, but advocacy groups don't care about that.

Trinidad and Tobago is very small compared to Venezuela. All of us want to help our neigbourhoods in their time of needs but we cannot take too many refugees because it will affect our economy and there are so many other bigger rich countries that Venezuelans can go to for help.

The problem is that not people in Trinidad don't like Venezuelans but over the years transportation of drugs and guns and also pirates from Venezuela come to Trinidad and harass people. There was a good relationship long ago and the both countries share history including part of Venezuela Independence. So Venezuelans needs to fix their country and take it back but making my beloved country Trinidad and Tobago look bad in process is not the way to go.

Steups. Posting big video to shame the country yet you running to it anyways and expect "respect". Glad you did this though so its clearer for you to see. You don't enter someone else's country and, ontop of it, seek refuge yet not respect its people, its LANGUAGE MOST IMPORTANTLY which some of you boldfacely and blatantly refuse to learn and expect that we here who speak ENGLISH SHOULD learn your language to communicate with you! Yep Spanish is a huge lamguage and yep its one of the most taught and spoken (as a second language) here however OFFICIALLY! NATIONALLY! Our OFFICIAL Language IS English, you come here, you learn the language and don't insult the locals amongst your kins in Spanish, its disrespectful, clearly (*CHINESE IMMIGRANTS*) PLEASE TAKE NOTE. Secondly, you litter! Not all of you, obviously, and yeah, the locals litter too but that does not give anyone, locals or non-locals the rights to vandalize any nation. Apart from the basics, the prostitution trade..... THE VENEZUELAN PIRATES illegally crossing our borders and kidnapping our people, asking for ransoms??? Yeah, not gonna talk about that tho! Why not run to Guyana? Its muchhhh bigger and veryyyy densely populated for its size... Ohhh, right, Venezuela and Guyana have too many land disputes? The war-like, rebelious, uprising kinda culture/spirit Venezuela has been popular for for like... ever, we in Trinidad and Tobago DON'T want it! NOR do we need it, we have enough problems of our own, recession is enough of an issue atm. Flee to Brazil or something, plenty of neighbours in South America! If you come to T&T, HUMBLE YOURSELVES & show respect, its the only way you'd GET respect here. NOT sugar-coating anything. Don't be posting no video claiming to "expose" anything! I speak on behalf of ALL Trinbagonians, WE ARE what you get! We'd embrace you, but humble yourself, don't be acting all obliged like we owe you something, or else, leave our little islands to heck alone. God bless.

Guyana is only "very densely" along the coastline. Trinidad seems to be drawing people from around the world. A visitor told me recently that she was surprised to see the amount of people from around the world who is living there. I would only advise Vens. who read this post, please learn English and don't ask people to download the Spanish App. on their cell phone, you will surely be rubbing people the wrong way. You are going to meet a lot of people who will not be pleasant if you demand that they speak Spanish. There will be no politeness with this.

A man will do what he has to do to survive, true, and I'm not against anyone making moves to survive, however, when it comes to the Venezuelan issue, that's where it gets sticky. Ever since I was a child, I've heard stories of the nasty treatment handed down to Trinidadian fishermen who wandered into Venezuelan waters, a lot of times unintentionally, now that the world powers are sticking it to them and their country is in shambles, they're running to my country. @Teddy Tom. Fam, the way global affairs function... color & so-called "race" are always factors. The same thing is playing out in AmeriKKKa. The USA poliTRICKal powers have opened the floodgates to allow MILLIONS of low-class, no manners, semi-literate central/south americans (from the Spanish speaking countries) to ILLEGALLY come into the USA. Meanwhile, they make it extremely difficult to enter the USA if you're a Black/Brown Brazilian.

(I speak as a former UN refugee status designee and asylum grantee who escaped an actual dictatorship.) Now Trinidad & Tobago is caught in the middle of Washington's imperialism and collaborators, whose attitude towards Latin America's poor is well demonstrated over 200 yr. She said they have always been coming. Yes, some came to go to school to learn English and returned home and some to live but not thousands a year like they are coming now. She should try to get the number from the Immigration Department for the last 10 decades before making it look like this is a normal thing. Trinidadians don't go to the US, Canada or England in the amount of 60,000 in a one or two year period. They would never allow so many Trinidadians to enter their countries in such a short time. I don't think that the average person do not like Venezuelans. There are many Trinidadians who are descendants of Venezuelans. Our parang and pastels also reflect their culture. I feel that the whole problem is the large number of people who are coming in at one time, who speak a different language, a close knit community with a different culture and the threat of people taking over their small island. They can easily outnumber the present population if 1.4 million arrive. Remember they have a 30 million plus population. There is also another problem that also exists with the Trinidad population that has been always there that I will not mention. It is human nature.

They are complaining about the Venezuelan immigrants in this video. Because that is the topic of the video. But in general they complain about the immigrants from other country too. Like the lady said in the video, there has always been Venezuelan immigrants. But the last few years there has been a very tremendous rise of immigrants due to everything that is happening in Venezuela. While these people should be able to get the help they need. We also need to try to understand where these island are coming from. Trinidad is a small island with a population of 1,3 million people. Venezuela is a country with a estimate population of 35 million. So if a lots of immigrants continue to come to the island, its just going to be too much and it will be very hard for Trinidad to cope with these numbers, they are unsustainable. I mean like if you live in a house with 4 bedrooms for you and your family. And a neighbor or a good friend lost her house and can't go back. You will be able to take them in and give them the help they need. But if after that more and more and more people come to stay at your house, to the point where there isn't any room anymore for you and your family, its going to be a problem, no matter how much you want to help them. You will probably start complaining too.

What's happening in Trinidad and Tobago regarding the Venezuelans is nothing unique. The crisis in their country has force many to seek a better life for themselves and their families. They are going to anywhere that's close by, TNT, Colombia, Brazil and Guyana...wherever. This is what's happens everywhere in the world that's experiencing crisis of one kind or another. 31.98 million (2017). But maybe one million will come by mid July. That is really the problem when registration time comes and that is a possibility. Trinidadians better brush up on their Spanish. Ven. are already telling people to download the Spanish apps to talk to them. Learn the language otherwise you will be in the dark. I would like to be aware of conversations. I would hate to have people around me and I don't know what they are saying. It is really a sad state of affairs for both the Venezuelans and the native Trinidadians. Another 110,000 a few years ago from other countries and now this. There are so many things that are going to change if these people cannot go back home soon.

The problems in the first place was political positioning, racial segregation. And those who were involved in this counsel didn’t know what they were doing. And their was colour favoritisms where there was one race favoured by the other. Those that were involved probably didn’t have the political background to handle the situation. It started with those starting with Mexico and Russia and Africa. And where of black skinned colour was a cast off. So I’m going to tell you this, we don’t need an idiot that doesn’t know what he’s doing running things. And as you see in my own Philippino and Trinidadian family there were problems there too. But it all comes down to the colour, favouritisms with he light and dark. That’s what it all comes down to.

It is a twin island republic of a population of 1.4 million being asked to solve the problems of a country with approximately 30 million. Currently there are over 100,000 Venezuelan migrants. Where are the hospital beds, school places, sanitation, infrastructure, food and financial aid suppose to come from? On top of which they are dealing with a pandemic and attempting to process 10,000 Trinbagonians abroad? Please don't tar these people as being like Trump. That's just inaccurate and distasteful.

There is no cracks for Venezuelans to enter Trinidad but when you have a high degree of unpatriotic citizens who by all means would sacrifice the nation for profit willfully hiding immigrants into the country by fishing boat putting them up in their homes to work in bars also other types of work for free at the same time these same unpatriots mischievously blame the authorities and government for not doing more to stop Venezuelans from entering the country also supporting and organizing Venezuelans to protest against the nation government and peoples of Trinidad and Tobago on the world stage for embarrassment and political gains . So it's not the Venezuelans to blame but those unpatriotic citizens who hate the country

Venezuelan people need help, especially the women and children and something needs to be done to help them. They are living human beings as well and they need human beings goodness to support and help them. The thing is there was an influx of Jamaicans in Trinidad but there were no constant reports of Jamaicans killing people, prostituting, having gangs and all of that. it's more or less every single day you hear about prostitution and killings by Venezuelans, Venezuelans abusing their women, gangs from Venezuela are in Trinidad now. and you see this in the papers as well as the news. there are so many other groups from different countries that come to Trinidad and you don't ever hear about the things you keep hearing and seeing the Venezuelans do. And a lot of them are racists.
