it takes a lotta balls to write lyrics like these and set it up for a major label debut. It also takes a lot of skill to make it sound so damn good. I dont know how many songs ive scrapped cause they sound playful or in my mind, corny. This song is playful but by no means ridiculous or corny, its catchy and fun, specially for a live audience.

I've been scrolling though all these "thoughtful" responses. Mine: 1) Stop comparing The Orwells to other bands. That's just weak Whatever you think they sound like is your perception. AKA that's "art". 2) Dismiss them as "retro"? Have you LISTENED to most of the "modern" music being released? At least The Orwells have energy and appear to enjoy making music. I saw them in concert. They don't take themselves too seriously. Neither should you. 3) Even if you think it's "bad rock / punk", it's legit. I personally hope they never get famous. Polished, corporate plastic music is not a goal; it's the Faustian prize for soulless losers.

The Chicago Scene is fucked up and bands fight like crazy for bookings,but I read that google Doc on them.It was the same story over and over,quit showing up if they raped you or a friend or abused you,I mean I was raped working as a teenage hustler a few times,it fucking happens when you find yourself in bad situations.Either way,I still listen to them,people still love Lead Zepplin,the kings of fucking underage girls...No charges,but enough smoke to know The Orwells well,3 of them had a fire going,not cool.Nothing new to Rock or Rap.Which is a sad bit of commentary.

I like this but wouldn't call it punk. Too many try to overcategorize and split up Rock into a ridiculous number of sub specialties. Bands latch onto the latest new category name and in PR call their music that to make it sound they are on the cutting edge when too often they really aren't. To me it's all rock, especially this. When I think of Punk, I think the early The Damned, Sex pistols, The Clash, the Ramones etc.

I think you're over thinking that. He doesn't seem like he's trying to be a troubled artist. This is a music video, it's suppose to be dramatic. And the band is being compared to so many different artists, everyone gets mad. Why is everyone getting mad? Artists sound like other artists, that's why there are genres, they're suppose to appeal to people who like a certain type of music.

Jim Morrison wasn't in a sense "a troubled artist". More so he was too wild when it came to drinking and that fucked with his mentality. But no, they're not channeling The Doors. They remind me of Nirvana more than The Doors. The lead singer moves more like Cobain and looks 10x more waster than Morrison could ever make himself seem. Also, Morrison resembled a Greek God, this guy resembles a Scandinavian viking or something along those lines.
