Palestinians reflect on the past 30 years since the first Oslo Accords were signed and all the ways in which the agreement impacted their lives, pushing them even further away from achieving liberation and statehood.

When Zionist army arrived in Palestine they were the bomber and terrorist, you ask for the other side of the story, you need understand the 3 dimensional, sometimes additional dimensions of reality. This was the state of Palestine that was simply stolen through the use of US and European taxpayers funds. From the base location a military foothold to watch over the entire oil rich region, Israel serves as a logistical hub to project military power into the region.

The present Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the greatest single mistake of the Palestinian Arab delegates was to refuse the offer of an independent State which was offered to them in 1947 by the UN, this newly formed State would have been in areas of old Palestine that are now referred to as the disputed territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip In the Camp David agreements (in the 1970s)held in the USA, Israel offered the Palestinians a State in these disputed territories. Again in the Oslo accords (in around 1993) the Palestinians were offered an independent state in the disputed territories. @@chrislambert9435the camp david summit 1978 was a summit between Israel and Egypt and not with Israel and Palestine. The summit did not contain anything about an independent Palestinian state. I think your mistaken it with camp david summit in 2000. This is where the Palestinians were offered an state. The Oslo accords were actually agreed on from both sides but as you can see from today, Israel is still present in the West Bank which neglects the terms which they have agreed on in the 90s.

Thanks a lot, you're great *** Please remember after achieving global support for the First Intifada, a PUBLIC International Peace Conference in Madrid 1991 was pushing for a resolution. Shamir, extreme right Israeli head of state, was at the same level with Palestinian representatives from occupied territories. Until then, Palestinians had been consistently labelled as 'Arabs' by Israelis, denying their belonging to Palestine. However, during this Conference, Shamir, for the first time in Israel's history, acknowledged the 'Palestinian' identity and its association with Palestine. Israel was under pressure from the international community and seemed willing to make concessions until a notorious SECRET proposal arrived from the future corrupt Palestinian Authority (PA) during the Oslo Accords. This proposal aimed to keep the First Intifada activists under Kalashnikov control, eagerly positioning themselves as future SUBCONTRACTORS for Israel's security. Their focus wasn't on settlements, water, land resources, or sovereignty. Their primary concern was to enter Palestine as supposed liberators, using deceptive victorious patriotic rhetoric while Israel rolls out the red carpet for them. And the story of "Animal Farm" by the author George Orwell takes place: Napoleon Gigantography with authoritarian practices, not belonging to our culture (first Intifada), started appearing in coordination with Israeli intelligence. Thanks again and keep on please***

Security and recognition by arab states and guarantee of peace for Israel. Israel rejected it. Since 2000 the UN general assembly all global nations vote for that resolution overwhelmingly only USA, Israel and 2 islands vote no. Check it out. Arab peace initiative is also along those parameters. Oslo accords to are on those parameters. Alleging Israel offers(beats me how Israel can offer a RIGHT by international law of Palestinians land which is acknowledged by all countries including USA and Israel) it's not Israelis to offer what it occupies illegally. As a result, terrorist attacks began against Israelis in that area and the Arafat-lead Palestinian Authority, who were the security teams in those areas now, did nothing to stop them. Eventually, those security teams turned on the Israeli soldiers themselves. Arafat also halted the newly formed Palestinian ecomonic development organization, PECDAR, lead by internationally respected Palestinian economists and businesspeople working along with the World Bank. Let’s not forget how a Jewish gang assassinated Folke Bentacourt who was overseeing the negotiations in 1948 to make sure a fair deal was done and one of the gang members was even later elected prime minister of Israel. One sided. Neither sides fulfilled their obligations of the Oslo Accords. You didn't mention all the terrorist attacks by Hamas in Israel during the 90s. Part of Arafat's responsibility was to reign in Palestinian terrorism. Israel needed base guarantees in regards to security if there is to be a Palestinian, guarantees which the PLO could never deliver on
@kappy-nf6uh
@kappy-nf6uh 8 ай бұрын
First and foremost, Israel helped create Hamas to undermine the PLO and play them off against each other. In fact, it was Israel who financed the Islamic Association (precursor to Hamas) to counteract Yasser Arafat. The intent was the divide and rule approach. As for the Oslo Accords, it was doomed to fail, not so much for its glaring omissions, but because the Israeli government negotiated in bad faith and turned the peace process into a charade. Sad to say there will never be a two state solution and the possibility of self-determination is now remote as ever. The Israeli government will do everything in its power to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. As Netanyahu was quoted saying in 2019, “those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza because maintaining the separation between PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza would prevent the establishment of the Palestinian state.” Time and time again, Israel has demonstrated its proclivity for saying one thing and doing another. In other words, lip service. Bi-lateral negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia is a case in point. Saudi Arabia insists that normalisation of ties is contingent on a pathway to a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian question. Yet in September, Netanyahu announced a billion dollar budget to carve out the West Bank and expand settlements to more than double the current size.

Both parties were not on the same level when they signed the agreement, the Palestinians didnt have as much power as Israel. Israel kept creating ilegal settlements and abusing the Palestinian population, controlling the West Bank. And you only focus on the liberation movement actions to free their people? They were colonised and clearly lied to when following the political route, so I don't know why you think you have the moral superiority to say that both parties infringed the agreements when the agreements were not fair in the first place.

I don’t agree with settlement expansion, but two points come to mind: 1) When all settlers were forcibly uprooted from the Gaza Strip as an initial peace offering in 2005…look what happened. So a unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank would very likely lead to another rise of Hamas there. Although settlements are unhelpful, I don’t think they’re the impediment of peace because of number 2… 2) In 2000-2001 during the camp David/Taba talks Ehud Barack (with Clinton) agreed to all of Ararat’s demands (94% of West Bank, 3% of Israel because of the settlements, $30 billion for refugees, roadways to all of Gaza). Arafat walked away without a counter offer. World was mad at Arafat. Damn right. Always! How Israelis Live So Easily With Occupation?*": 1) Most, if not all, Israelis believe they are the chosen people. 2) Israelis believe not only they are always the victim, but the only victim (Never in human history did the occupier presented itself as the victim). This enable any Israeli to live in peace because we are the victims. 3) Systematic dehumanization of Palestinians, the deep belief that Palestinians are not humans. Kind of biased report

Mag, its so biased, e present Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the greatest single mistake of the Palestinian Arab delegates was to refuse the offer of an independent State which was offered to them in 1947 by the UN, this newly formed State would have been in areas of old Palestine that are now referred to as the disputed territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip In the Camp David agreements (in the 1970s)held in the USA, Israel offered the Palestinians a State in these disputed territories. Again in the Oslo accords (in around 1993) the Palestinians were offered an independent state in the disputed territories. Many times over the Israeli Government has offered the Palestinian representatives an Independent State

In the words of Doctor Gabor Mate “nobody ever asks how should we respond to Israel’s brutal treatment of Palestinians for the last 75 years. Nobody ever ask how should Hamas respond to the IDF that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians. Nobody ever asks how should the Palestinians respond to the hundreds of deaths in the West Bank that have occurred this year at the hands of the settlers, including the deaths of children, as documented again by Israeli journalists. Those questions are not raised. The questions are always how to respond to Hamas. Well, that’s a fair question. But an equally fair question is how should Hamas and Palestinians respond to Israel and to the historical expulsion and mass killings. Nobody ever asks.”
