The Other Side of Life - Swedenborg Foundation

Inspired by the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, "The Other Side of Life" is not so much an argument for immortality as an exploration of our spiritual being here and now, a confirmation that our souls are far more significant and durable than our transient bodies. The viewer in encouraged to live in a present that is suffused with eternity.

"The Other Side of Life" is a poetic exploration of the subtle boundaries between life and death, and the essential unity of all creation. The viewer is encouraged to live in a present that is suffused with eternity. Numerous film festival awards in the categories of religion and ethics. Narrated by Tony Award-winner George Rose, produced and directed by Harvey Bellin and Tom Kieffer, written by George F. Dole.
Harvey Bellin runs a film production and editing company, The Media Group, in Westin, Connecticut. He received an Emmy award for his 1988 direction of The Outlivers: 200 Years in Weston. He has produced and directed many films, including The Shakespeare Hour (1985), and Blake: The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (1985). He also co-edited the volume "Blake and Swedenborg: Opposition is True Friendship."
Tom Kieffer is a producer and director whose filmography includes Johnny Appleseed and the Frontier Within (1981) and Blake: The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (1985).
George F. Dole holds a BA from Yale, an MA from Oxford, and a PhD from Harvard. Now professor emeritus, Dr. Dole taught ancient languages, the Bible, and theology at the Swedenborg School of Religion in Newton, Massachusetts. He is also the author of "Freedom and Evil," "Sorting Things Out," and "A Book about Us." He lives in Bath, Maine.
★EMANUEL SWEDENBORG★
Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was a Swedish scientist, nobleman, and theologian who spent his life investigating the mysteries of the soul. Born in Stockholm to a staunchly Lutheran family, he graduated from the University of Uppsala and then traveled to England, Holland, France, and Germany to study the leading scientists of the time. He gained favor with Sweden’s King Charles XII, who gave him a position on the board of overseers of the Swedish mining industry. Later, he was granted a seat on the Swedish House of Nobles by Charles XII’s successor, Queen Ulrika Eleonora. Between 1743 and 1745 he began to have visions of heaven, hell, and Jesus Christ that resulted in a stream of books about the nature of God, the afterlife, and the inner meaning of the Bible. I just want to say something before I continue watching... During my after death experience, I was in the place of nothingness. Everytime I watch other stories of such beautiful experiences, I say to myself "oh, how I wish I could have seen that". I feel like I missed out. For the longest time I felt I was unworthy. But now I find solace in the knowing that if I did see a little bit of the Glory of Heaven, I would have begged to stay and I would have really missed out on the rest of my life here in the physical. My loved ones needed me, I see that now, and I'm happy that I didn't get to "see". When I do get to see, I'll be crying even before I take my last breath, and I'm sure will not stop (for good) until I get to the Home my mother and Jesus have waiting for me. I will then rest until "the Angel" comes a-knocking. I had a dream a few days after Fernand went and he brought me to the house where I will be living with my family. As I walked outside and down the sidewalk to take a stroll with 3 ladies, I turned around and looked at the front door and it was a little bit more than half open...not fully...not yet. Thank you Jesus...thank you...for saving me for the best that is yet to come. 😌💗

@@SwedenborgFoundation Do you mean we have individual homes or can there be one for a family of 4. My dad went Home in 2008 and I've always dreamed that (when I finally found him...long story) he was living with an old priest in a concrete house. Looked very distinctive. 🤗✌️

I DON'T want to be, or sound like many of the negative commenters we come across online.. I'd RATHER be positive! But... this video kinda sucks. It's shallow, doesn't say much at all.. just the English accented narrator speaking sparse attempts at poetic sounding narrative, shallow talk about how live "within boundaries" in this life, and other such trite sounding quasi-philosophical babbling. There's very, very little discussion about ... "The Other Side Of Life". Very little, other than a couple allusions toward someone having a NDE on an operating table. The rest of the video, to a large degree, is images of scenes on Earth, with accompanying 70's sounding made for TV movie soundtracs. Oh well. Watch it if you want ;) Blessings to all! We're all out of here some relatively soon coming day, and we'll each experience the ultimate "THIS IS IT!" for ourselves.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, Steve! This video was made quite a long time ago (and I think it WAS in the 70s) when it was still dicey to talk in a straight-forward way about a spiritual world. We've made thousands of videos since (mostly through our Off The Left Eye channel) that are much better suited to today's audience. Wishing you all the best!
