The week before my mum died (as expected due to terminal cancer) I prepared her for the afterlife and told her that it would be amazing. When she died at 3:00 am and her heart stopped in front of me, I celebrated her and told her to have a great time but to keep in touch. This while my entire Catholic and Shia Muslim families were begging for God to “have mercy” on her and thinking I’m mad. Same day she died she talked to my child not once but twice and touched him...I could go on for days... World wake up...we are not dying! The only issue is communicating with them but not impossible! It is awful not to be able to feel their physical presence anymore but I take comfort in knowing mum is in a lot better place now and one day she will come to pick me up!

Thanks for sharing this story, Ellie. I imagine it was a great gift to your mother to have your confident knowledge that she was headed off on a new adventure! It does seem it would change the world if we could let go of our terror around death. The pain of separation is real, but our loved ones are not lost! Blessings to you!

Eleonora I recently celebrated my husband’s crossing over in much the same way. I was so excited for him especially as our son had crossed over unexpectedly four months prior. My husband was actually smiling/laughing while crying several times at the very end, I know he was seeing our son waiting for him and they were tears of joy. I have no fear of ‘death’, it was beautiful to behold.

I wish that I could visit with my fiance, and he could show me his home and tell me how he spends his days.... I would like to see the clothes he has decided are best for him.... so anxious for that visit.... When you talked about time and how we can do our hobbies for as long as our hearts are in it.... do you think the jobs we have are like that too..... we work for as long as we are feeling it....? I wish it was like that here :) I think the biggest take away for me is that - how we truly feel in our hearts, mind and thoughts are going to determine everything...... there is no hiding our true selves...... we will be seen as we truly are and we will be accepted. for that and loved..... that will be a beautiful place to be.....I appreciate all of you at OTLE....

I have an interesting story to share with you. My mother passed away in 2010. I had forgiven her with great difficulty for not protecting me from the sexual abuse I had suffered, however, she was not someone I would even think to turn to for nurturing. Forward to 2012. I'm at the dental surgeon and he has just told me he can't put me to sleep for a difficult tooth extraction because of two heart conditions. I have a lot of anxiety when having dental work as I fear suffocation and/or choking due to the past. So I'm sitting in the chair, alone, crying. The surgeon has just given me some shots in my mouth( he left the room). He wouldn't give me any anti anxiety medication so I'm very anxious. The last person I am thinking about is my mother! lol I was thinking about the hooks he was going to have to use to extract my broken (at the gum level) tooth! All of a sudden, a pair of hands appear on my lap. I recognize them immediately, but I'm shocked. They were my mother's hands. I suddenly felt comforted. I look down at my feet and don't recognize the woman right away. I'm confused. The young woman doesn't match the 89 year old hands I had seen on my lap. Then, I realized she did look familiar! She was my mom at the age I recalled from her wedding pictures, about 22 years old! What really amazed me was her clothing! She was in full camping gear, like she was on safari! My mother's most favorite activity while alive from the time I was 5 years old was CAMPING! Apparently, we do get to enjoy our favorite activity in heaven! I'm looking forward to galloping through a field on horseback, again!

Wow, Patti! That's such a wonderful story! I'm so glad that finally, your mom was able to be there for you and offer her support and love to you at such a difficult time. Yes, I believe you're right that we get to do what we love! This is a great overview that will be very exciting to people new to Swedenborgian thought! One kind of communication in the spiritual world that wasn't mentioned (you can't mention everything, obviously!) is music. I love the descriptions Swedenborg writes about hearing singing in the other world that conveys some kind of profound thought in a way that is utterly delightful. What a great way to learn about spiritual concepts- not through a dry tome, but through a piece of music that puts that concept right into our hearts and minds. We already see how music can be so moving and meaningful here on earth. I am very excited to experience music in the next life!

I really enjoy episodes that talk about what life is like in heaven; and this one is the best because it covers so much practical everyday how-we-will-live details. Having this awareness makes the coming transition much less scary, and it gives me an orientation class ahead of going there. I will refer to this one again because like all of them your work is jammed full of important details, which I can’t keep in my mind. What really struck me is how much our FEELINGS will affect our surroundings. Since I am a feeling and intuitive person foremost, I have this very strong sense that feelings are really important- at least for how I move through my life 😊 - and are generated by, or are an effect, of our will; an expression of our will, which for me takes precedence over our Thoughts - not that thoughts are unimportant as they are from our understanding. Yet so very often we hear that it is our will that drives everything and defines us. Also it is the feeling of our CORE LOVE that is at our center and determines more than anything else who we are and what will be our destiny. I would love to see an episode on feelings. Just yesterday morning I heard this message “He’s got this.” Lately I have been a little anxious about how indebted I am to the Lord for EVERYTHING - for all the blessings in my life and for my inner peace as a consequence. I am so grateful to the Lord for how gently He guides us to Heaven with His goodness and mercy. I just keep repeating “He’s got this.” I know this is a trust issue as a family crisis badly damaged my hope for security and a good future when I was 14. I have worked to repair the damage - so now being given the awareness of such a fabulously, over the top, wonderful future is the most perfect gift and blessing which I seem unable to believe I deserve - especially without a hefty price tag - strings and conditions and such attached. The gift of the hope for eternal happiness is so overwhelming and so very difficult for me to take in and accept. Of course, I am, and will continue to, work on my trusting in this since this is what work I am given today to do - it will be healing to work through and reach the other side. ‘He’s got this’ is for all of us and that includes me. Blessings to you all! ❤️
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Mary, what a helpful phrase! Trust is difficult for a lot of us, I can relate. I'm sorry for your poor 14-year-old self, seeing a change that made life scary and difficult. It's hard not to remain a survivor, but we must move forward, from surviving to thriving, and that requires trust and vulnerability! I think for me it helps my own trust issues to think that I AM giving back, by taking opportunities to help other humans who God also loves! So I earn my place with service. But I also want to remind you that God created you out of love, and to be loved, and to share love. You don't have to feel bad about that, or undeserving. Humbled, sure. We should all be humble, and grateful! But I don't think feeling unworthy is useful or necessary. Work on gratitude, and take that energy into service and love for others. That's how you become worthy!

Curtis I lost my son eleven weeks ago to suicide. Your videos have given me comfort through this very difficult time. I have a question though if you don't mind.. How is it that spirits can see us and what we are doing from their place in the afterlife and why cant we see them? Also... How do we look here on Earth to them in the afterlife? Do we look the same or different?
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
Andrea, I'm so terribly sorry. What a painful loss to bear. I'm deeply glad if our videos have been able to bring you some hope and comfort. Regarding your question, actually, Swedenborg reports that for the most part, people in the afterlife don't directly see our physical bodies or situation here on earth. They can, however, receive our thoughts and feelings, which would include mental imagery. In that way, I think your son can be in touch with what's going on with you. Also, Swedenborg reports people in the afterlife being able to see the the spirits, or spiritual bodies, of people who are still on earth. So I believe your son's focus will be on the real you -- your spirit, your thoughts, your feelings. Those will be easily recognized by him, and dear to him.

Hello, friend! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Yes, agreed! Swedenborg says our life in this world is only the beginning, that all of us will cross into the spiritual world and continue living. The difference is that on earth we have an opportunity to explore who we want to be, what we most care about, and how we are going to bring to life what we love. In the spiritual world, we will be living out our heart's purpose in a particular community of people who share our fundamental love. Have you seen our video called, "The Purpose of Death"? kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ7HY6Rnd7Gln68 If you have a chance to watch, I'd love to hear more of your thoughts! @offTheLeftEye3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure your mother is surrounded by beautiful things in heaven, though of course the actual PHYSICAL objects of this world won't be there. But Swedenborg learned that our environments in the other world are really reflections of our deepest loves and beliefs, so if your mother loves beautifully, she'll be surrounded by beautiful things! Swedenborg did experience banquets and such in the other world, but he doesn't speak of sleeping in the spiritual world. Perhaps that's because sleep in this world is so much about repairing and restoring our physical body? And he says there's no night there, because of the correspondence that the Lord's love (the spiritual Sun) is never absent. What do you think? Here's an episode we did called " A Day in the Life of an Angel." - kzbin.info/www/bejne/emSlnoOjbKmDrJI. Perhaps that will give you some food for thought about what your mother is experiencing now. Blessings to you!

Even though I see the afterlife just as ES described, it still is wonderful to hear you describe it. For one reason, it's reality and I've always been attracted to what's real. It's a relief to escape even for a few minutes from the common culture of materialism and ignorance we see in this culture. Living in this non-spiritual culture has an affect on you even when you know it's not reality. But our job is to also affect the broader culture, to give hope to those who are depressed from a sense of meaninglessness, to change the world by one act of kindness at a time. And who ever said that the purpose of our lives is to always be comfortable? But knowing the beauty and joy of the next world does make living in this world feel drab at times. I don't know how consistent this is with ES, but Baha'is see the world evolving through stages of material and spiritual progress towards becoming more like the spiritual world. Conflict, contention and war will gradually give way to harmony and unity between all races, nations and religions. Just as in the next world, religion will be seen as how you treat others, not in what you say you believe or whether you possess vast knowledge. Religions serve a purpose to help people to grow spiritually and become united, not to become idols of the imagination, or eternal fixtures of society. As we become closer to the spiritual world over the centuries, the form of religion will also change to suit the new conditions and needs of the age. We'll have a heavenly world civilization that we can't even imagine. Maybe....this kind of spiritual evolution continues in the spiritual worlds in ways we can't imagine! I may be an old man in this world, but I'm just an embryo in the next, feeling the first contractions which will push me through that tunnel of love which connects the worlds.

@@offTheLeftEye I had forgotten about this video which I watched 2 years ago! Watching it again is wonderful....again. I was mesmerized by Curtis' description, and picture, of what the New Church will be like, the unity in diversity of the human race, the tribes, the nations and the religions. It jogged my memory to a Baha'i World Congress which I attended in New York in 1992 which was a real life picture of that unity Curtis created. Here's a link to this event. It's rather long, but the part showing the people from literally every part of the planet dressed in their native costumes starts at l:49:02 of the film. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m33SqqSefLFmjNU Seeing this unity in diversity of the human race was one of the most moving experiences for me. This event was probably the most diverse group of the human race ever to gather in one place as one people. And I would say that this is Curtis' idea of what the New Church will look like.
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
@@harlanlang6556 Sounds really beautiful. Thank you for the link! If it can happen with small groups of people, eventually it can happen with the whole human race.
@harlanlang65564 жыл бұрын
@@offTheLeftEye That's right. There is a hope in the hearts of most people that the human race can become one, but there is also a skepticism that something that wonderful and idealistic just could ever happen, that we are at our core competitive and warlike. The focus of the Baha'i Faith has always been on bringing into reality the oneness of humankind and the unity of religions, nations and languages, that this is our divine destiny and inevitable. But we also know that there is a concourse on high, multitudes of angels helping the human race to achieve this. Even the scientific advancements are opening more doors to unity through better, faster and cheaper travel and communication. SpaceX is even now putting into orbit a new system of thousands of satellites which will allow people living anywhere on earth to have access to the internet. The concourse on high (a term Baha'u'llah uses) are busy people!

No minister I have ever encountered here on earth seems to believe that we will be having "personal" relationships (like we had in families here on earth), but that, rather, we will be constantly worshiping God, praying and praising God. Those that believe that they are "Godly" and are living to "Please" God seem to believe this even more so. When I once questioned this I was told that I needed to find the Holy Spirit because all anyone needs is this Spirit. This has made me wonder "why" God even made Adam and Eve other than to tempt them with "carnal" things and then to punish them through long years of pain and labor. Swedenborg does have some very beautiful concepts concerning the Life and Existence of human souls in Heaven. I suppose I might find out in the near future being an elderly lady already. Thank You for sharing.

Hi Joyce! Yes, there's a lot out there that seems very confusing and not very hopeful. Swedenborg dispels a lot of that (at least for me!). Swedenborg was shown that the Bible was written in symbolic language and allegory, and there are meanings hidden within the text. Adam and Eve is no exception, and if you'd like to hear how this story can relate to all of us in our own lives (and how original sin isn't what many of us were told), check out, "The Meaning of Adam and Eve," kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIfPh3WFqLxooM0 The Holy Spirit has always confused me. For how Swedenborg reconciles the idea of one God vs. The Trinity (so confusing) check out, "How to Understand the Trinity," kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4rFdnuhZ7NrbpY For how labor and pregnancy are symbolic of all our spiritual struggles, check out this short clip, “Can A Spiritual Crisis Be Helpful?” kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2PHdamja7qKhc0 Also some short clips about why life is how it is, and God is what God is: "Why Does God Want Our Gratitude?" kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZmvh4dvbKZmY5Y and, "Why Does God Want to be Worshiped?" kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqW8Ypeslp2Jrqc Hope those help you feel like God isn't a distant, angry being - but instead is within and all around us, loving unconditionally, always leading us to heaven. It is indeed so amazingly beautiful! And the harm is happening because of distortions of the Divine Design in nature, which allows influence from hell to flow in. As we collectively work to get back into alignment with God's Divine Design, things like violence and pain can be healed and stop happening, leaving only the beauty.

From that prospective then everything is perfect. In this world time and space are the dictator of our movements, but there our minds are the dictators of time and space. So basically as soon as I feel like being in at the beach in French Polynesia everything around me will morph into Polynesia. Wow! Can't wait to die. Amazing Episode once again!

Wow!! Fascinating! How was it possible that Swedenborg was able to describe in great detail the world of the afterlife 🥰. He really went there?! My brother has just died from Covid19. I’am just so devastated by his lose, no goodbyes. He died alone😢. & I’am just so thankful I came across your program of life after death through Swedenborgs eyes. I guess now I’am so sure my brother is in a much better , gloriously beautiful place in heaven in the company of our Lord
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
Anthony, I'm so terribly sorry for your painful loss. It must have been agonizing to not be able to be physically near him as he made his transition. I want to assure you, though, that he was not alone. God provides much angelic company for everyone as they approach death, and as they cross over. Here are 2 episodes about the dying process, according to what Swedenborg witnessed and learned: "How Angels Take Care of Us When We Die" kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJDJpWqYas-eaK8 "What Does it Feel Like to Die?" kzbin.info/www/bejne/noi4YYN3YrV3etE And I'm sure that your brother felt your presence with him, too, because in spirit, thought brings presence, and love brings union. Emanuel Swedenborg was a brilliant and accomplished scientist who had a profound spiritual awakening in his mid-50s. After an intense period of self-examination, repentance, prayer and Bible study, Swedenborg had a powerful vision of Christ, who called him to the mission of learning about the afterlife, because the time had finally come for more about that to be revealed, as Jesus had indicated: “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12). “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” (John 3:12). Yes, your dear brother is safe and happy, with the Lord. And we are extending our love to you, and wishing you healing and peace!

The landscape I personally witnessed was all Gold and "alive" if I can explain it that way. Every blade of grass and every leaf on a tree had its own "personality" but yet everything is of ONE consciousness. It's my home were I rest apparently.

This teaching has benefited me tremendously. How about food and drink certainly we must partake of such in the spiritual realm?
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
Good question, Bigwu! Swedenborg does talk about feasts in some of his stories of the afterlife. I recall him also talking about spiritual nourishment, similar to food and water. Here is an excerpt on this idea from "Secrets of Heaven," #1480: "...Factual knowledge is food for the spirit, which is sustained and refreshed by it, just as our outer self is sustained and refreshed by earthly food. This food for our spirit is something that is communicated to our outer self to enable it to adapt to the inner self. (References: Genesis 12:14) [2] The different types of this food, though, arrange themselves in a hierarchy: Heavenly food is every benefit of love and charity received from the Lord. Spiritual food is every true tenet of faith. These two types of food are what an angel lives on. From them comes a kind of food that is also heavenly and spiritual but angelic in a lower degree, and this is the food that an angelic spirit lives on. From this too comes an even more humble type of heavenly and spiritual food, which has to do with reason and therefore with factual knowledge. It is the food that good spirits live on. In last place comes food for the body, which is our proper food during bodily life. These types of food correspond to each other in a miraculous way. This too shows why and how academic studies can provide their own satisfaction. They resemble appetite and the sense of taste. So the meals we eat on earth correspond to facts in the world of spirits, and appetite and taste themselves correspond to a craving for education. This can be seen from my experiences, discussed later [§§4791-4795, 4801], the Lord in his divine mercy willing." So food in heaven exists - it will be different from physical food but probably will feel the same way, and be even more nourishing than anything we had here! At least, that's how I understand it! What do you think?

Good afternoon to all of people needs to be with this, and I really hope that, and I don't know why this taken me; and also I love all comments about the spirit and life after life even thinking about it and this is amazing, for me it's very important to understanding how that we can Died and also do we have a possibility come back but maybe in the other's body, and really thank you again for helping me to understanding.

Hi Roberto -- The mission of our channel is to share the spiritual insights given to Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) through many years of spiritual experiences. So we speak from that viewpoint. Swedenborg did not subscribe to the idea of reincarnation. Instead of coming back in other bodies to this earth multiple times, he learned that we each maintain our own identity, and go on to continue our spiritual development in the afterlife. Here's a show we did about that, if you're interested: "Do We Reincarnate?" -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYe8fHicpdOroJI Feel free to keep asking questions, and we'll try our best to answer!

Are any of the jobs in the afterlife to look after and help those still in this world? Like angels who help humans? Could our "job" be to look after animals for example who are still in this world (like being their guardian angel)?
@offTheLeftEye Жыл бұрын
Angels are definitely God's messengers in helping to oversee and care for all that happens in this world, Rabbitsarewonderful. Divine Providence is operating in the least details of this world, both human and animal, plant and mineral, etc., says Swedenborg!

Still watching the show, but had a thought... Are we competitive in the afterlife? Like Curtis was saying about clothing representing a growth process, when we see someone get to that stage, would we want to also get to that stage just to keep up? Just a thought😉
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
Our panel just recently had a discussion about competition, and the difference between a heavenly kind of competition and a lower-ego kind of competition. Take a look and see what you think! Start near the end of this episode, at about 1 hour, 6 minutes and 50 seconds: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKjRnJ2daa1rhsU

Thanks for the link! So competitiveness is there, however the intent is key. If I strive for the clothing (to continue my example) of the other angel, that is good if I am also happy and joyful that they, too, have reached that level of learning... As opposed to wanting it to appear better than those around me. Very good! Thanks again💕
