I've been a studio/session musician for a long time and I think a lot of the reason music from past decades was "better" than modern music has to do with the business side of the industry. Labels always want to make money (obviously) but back then they had to put out music that people would buy. Now music is more about the visuals than the sound. If you have a beautiful singer with mediocre talent they're going to be pushed much more than an average-looking person with huge talent. That's why we have so many gorgeous singers, who can't sing without Autotune, putting out disposable, crap songs. Sadly, just the way it is.

The Outfield were very popular in the 80’s with a hit album called “play deep”. On this album they had several hits including: “every time you cry”(which includes some good drum fills btw) “All the love in the world “ “Say is isn’t so” And their most popular “Your Love “ They have a few deep cuts that are pretty good too.

This song is very catchy. The opening line brings you right into it with the line about Josie. Speaking of Josie, I am reminded of one of my favorite bands Steely Dan who did a song called 'Josie.' Have you reacted to Steely Dan yet, Mia? They are not everybody's cup of tea. But the skilled instrumentation and well crafted lyrics are superb. Give them a try if you have not already done so, Mia. I love music from the late 50's to late 90's. You had great drummers, guitarists and singers to follow. It's hit and miss with modern music. It's very dull these days.

Great reaction, Mia! I can tell you really enjoyed 'Your Love' by The Outfield - it’s such a classic! Just to share some trivia, The Outfield is actually a British band that became really popular in the '80s. 'Your Love' was one of their biggest hits, and it came from their debut album Play Deep (1985). The song’s catchy guitar riff and the unique voice of lead singer Tony Lewis definitely made it stand out! Fun fact: Despite their success in the '80s, The Outfield never really had another hit as big as 'Your Love,' but they kept making music into the '90s and beyond. Also, the song was a big favorite in movies and TV shows because of its energetic, feel-good vibe! It’s awesome you’re exploring older music like this. I bet you would love their other songs like 'All the Love' and 'Say It Isn't So.' Keep up the great work, and I’m looking forward to your next reaction video!

This song reminds me of a magical "movie" type one day fling. It was at the peak of the charts and actually started playing simultaneously with the arrival of a mesmerizing teenage girl riding her ten speed in front of my house. I was almost 15 years old myself. I had the song blaring from my house the whole time as I grabbed my bike to introduce myself at the street. She was visiting from out of state and never saw her again after the few hours we hung out. First coming of age connection. Funny how music ingrained it into my memory

I agree in that older music was just better. I love music. I literally listen 24/7 even in my sleep I have music playing. I think a lot just boils down to talent. There were so many good artists that it forced other artists to get better just to compete. There is a stand out here and there in some newer stuff, but yeah it is really just a formula with today's music. My favorite music comes from about 1955 to about 1995.

They weren't a huge band, but they have a couple of really good songs. I remember mowing yards and hearing this on my AM/FM headphones 1,000 times that summer. There are definitely some good drum hits in this song. What makes some of this music great is real instruments and the artists all actually in a studio together - makes a big difference, and there's a chemistry between musicians that really comes thru. You should react to some older stuff like Ray Charles "What I Say" (it's LOOONG tho). Even back to the 50s, there's such a high talent level.
