What's interesting about the American Civil war was geographically it was fought over a small part of the United States but politically those states were the most powerful states

@Jacarter99 Lawrence raid was in retalliation for deaths of women held by Union in collapsed building in Kansas City earlier. Quantrill had a list of who they were after. Union held citizens and property because it was aiding the Confederates and killing Union troops. There was plenty of wanton violence in western Missouri/eastern Kansas on both sides. The true history is not as clean cut as most people think. I don't justify or admire Conferacy but the Union was not clean either.
