I found several woven nymph videos and your's was by far the best of any. Yours was easy to understand and the video work was top notch.

Thank you so much. This really means a lot to me. I was researching, practicing and thinking how to do it so people would see all movements... Its easy weave but unless properly shown its just a mess... Glad to hear i did it right. Cheers 😀🍻

That was very cool. I’ve been braiding horse equipment for 55 years. To see this weaving technique on the fly was very enjoyable for me. Thanks again for your videos.

Excellent instructions; best that I could find on KZbin. I followed your instructions to tie some Polish woven nymphs, and I'm happy with the results.

@@Oholisfliesandfishing They work! I went fishing today and caught some nice wild browns with them. I tied some in brown and yellow on #10 scud hooks with a tungsten bead and lead free wire for extra weight. Caddis larvae/Polish woven nymph.

Thanks for this! I've always wondered how this was done. It's macramé - a square knot. I've started this with two different colours of Uni-flexx.

If the Thread is not shiny enough, you can ad a rib or a tinsel reinforced with transparent mono. I use some metallic tinsel.
@Oholisfliesandfishing4 жыл бұрын
I got some UV tinsels recently.... So i will be experimenting 😀😀

Hi Vladimir. Well done, really realistic effects. I suppose there must be some loss in the sinking speed compared to a Perdigon? I wonder if it's feasible to tie a wire woven nymph in 2 colours. If it could be done, the added bulk would be offset by the added weight? Thanks again, David.
@Oholisfliesandfishing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Well, there is but its insignificant. Unless its big and wide fly. But you can compensate with thinner tippet or bigger bead. Weaving wire is probably possible but i havent tried. There is one thing to consider, weaves won't be as tight as with thread so you will see thread between wire weaves..

@isupportthecurrentthing52254 жыл бұрын
Oholi's flies This method looks alot easier on jig hooks with a thread base. The houdini weave is difficult to do on top of thread.
@Oholisfliesandfishing4 жыл бұрын

Very Nice patterns! Really good video. Is it enought with ordinary Embroidery yarn/thread or does it have to be The special fly tying kind? I know you said no on you video, got a friend that insists that it HAS to be The expensive kind. Hope to here from you =)
@Oholisfliesandfishing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Any thread you can find. It has to be strong enough to tighten the knot, to be strong enough for trouts teeth.. Thats it I have friends who use floss... I personally tried viscose floss, silk floss..... It all works... Floss threads tend to be slippery so they are harder to work with...and teeth can easily damage them
@michaelmckenna14 Жыл бұрын
For someone just starting this fly pattern would u recommend they work with 1 strand for both colours ? I'm having a tough time with this fly.
@Oholisfliesandfishing Жыл бұрын
I think its better to start with moderately thick thread. And choose one thats not slippery as silk.... With one strand you get thin thread and you need to make more weaving per fly.
