It seems that all new tiers seem to struggle with quantity of the materials they use. Here i am trying to show it on thorax. How small amount can actually be more than enough.
Hope you will like this one....
Best wishes... Vladimir

By far the best instructional video. I love the attention to detail. So here are the things that I highlighted that I'm doing wrong: 1) I've been using FAR too much CDC (Generally a whole feather instead of half) 2) When creating a dubbing loop I've been putting the material too far down the loop making me take extra wraps to get my material in position 3) I would add the CDC in a loop tie it off and then make a rope of dubbing material. Now I will create the rope on one side of the dubbing loop 4) I was putting FAR too much dubbing material Thank you so much for the video

Thanks for this comment. It points out exactly the reason why i made the video. I saw people struggle with these things and i remembered i did as well. Its was surprising for me when i first realised that fish will in general rather pick slim and sparse from too bulky.. M

How many “passes” through a hole where you are unsure if it contains a fish would you send your nymph before switching nymphs or moving to another place to fish?
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 2 жыл бұрын
If i "feel" there should be some fish i would stay longer.... Even an hour. But, usually, its 20min per stretch.

I hate UTC 70 thread it snaps on me about every three minutes and gets frayed very very easily and it’s an absolute headache to use but it’s all I have in olive colour
@Oholisfliesandfishing

I love it. But it does fray easily. Thats why i am trying to keep my hand skin in ok condition. Even slightly cracked skin will fray it.
@flyfishingernstl9548
@flyfishingernstl9548 3 жыл бұрын
Goood video, as always, thanks! What’s about splitting the thread instead of making a dubbing loop? Split-thread-thorax is a bit neater in my opinion. What do you think?
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend. This one is super thin, 18/0 its pain to split 😃😃 otherwise its the same.... Unless one makes loop with thick thread.... Which would be a mistake
@cpmorris1001
@cpmorris1001 2 жыл бұрын
@@Oholisfliesandfishing At what point do you NOT create a dubbing loop? Should you split UTC 70D?
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@cpmorris1001 i do split utc 70den pretty often. I prefer dubbing loop with it because its stronger.... If i use GSP i can do split thread.. I use split thread with UTC if i use less material in the split thread.... In thag case less twists i need to secure materials. If i use thin (18/0) GSP i can do both. But dubbing loop is preferable. Not easy to split thin threads. Does this answer your question? I am asking because i am not sure i correctly understood first part of your question. Cheers Vladimir
