Everyone was right about Gus knowing about Hunter being a grimwalker during the day of unity. He is such a good friend! The fact that he waited (for months) and secretly tried to help Hunter come to terms with telling everyone else and then tries to shift the blame on himself for not addressing it before Luz is kinda heartbreaking.

@@twist_ending7545 Yes it is, if summer camp was at the beginning of summer, Luz came home around the end of summer, and then returned to the boiling isles on Halloween, then only 2 months passed actually. The timeline might be a little not right, but Luz's hair would've grown a lot longer in a year then it did in the first episode. And if the festival isn't on Halloween they could've returned as late as mid-November. It's just my opinion, I understand the photo book and other factors indicate it could very well have been a year, but to me it doesn't make a lot of sense regardless. I think this is a factor of the crew being rushed, the timeline isn't all that clear.

She’s strong, but the whole reason she was bullied and didn’t have the confidence in her abilities was cuz she was a slow developer, who seemed to only excel at plant magic. I like how Willow has spent the last season, and really ever since she met Luz, discovering her true potential, getting over her insecurities, and training to be the best, most powerful witch she could be. But when faced with an apocalyptic scenario like this, where her family is in peril and her arch rival is in charge, she starts internally panicking and doubting herself again, thinking she has to keep it together for the team And as it builds up, she starts to lose control of her magic, until it nearly cosumes her. Only by admitting her fears and letting her emotions out, does she regain control, and is able to pull through, and be a strong member of the team again. It's okay not to be strong all the time, it's okay to let people know if it's too much, and it's okay to show your emotions. Some, (like Boshca) might give you a hard time, but others, (Like Hunter and Gus) will be there to reassure you and give you the support you need.

I really like that Mat and Amity got teamed up against Boscha because it's the perfect cast of characters when you think about it. Amity pretty much did a complete 180, Mat remained mostly his obnoxious self but experienced growth, and Boscha was so determined to stay the same that she was willing to let everyone suffer to achieve that. And she finally took a step in the right direction. Whether or not she sticks to it is yet to be seen but I think it's important to remember she's just a kid. She's got time to grow.

Yes King has been sacrificing a lot and letting the collector cross boundaries, but something that I think is worth noting is actually the François scene, because collector says he doesn't like sleeping alone. This would imply that despite the two beds, they've never slept in that room together, probably going to sleep at different times. King is probably just that afraid of being alone with and unconscious around the collector, which is understandable, but to the collector? That's supposed to be his best friend, and he doesn't even wanna have sleepovers. That at least makes the 2 seconds of unheard context lead to disastrous misunderstanding feel a bit more earned, as we see the tension and conflict and arguing build between them. King doesn't like people getting hurt and the collector doesn't like King being a buzkill.

If the collector says he doesn’t want to sleep alone and asks for Franchois, it means someone else had to sleep in the room if Franchois wasn’t already keeping him company. And that would likely be King himself. And, obviously King isn’t his best friend, they just met. And the collector is dangerous.

@Ginger he doesn't like sleeping alone, no one else is keeping him company but king and we see king leave at night, implying that that's been the routine for a while. If I had to guess, King only uses his bed when Collector isn't there. He's been scared of him this whole time, which is fair and I don't blame him for not wanting to be around Collector, but I also don't blame Collector for being hurt by it. No matter how powerful and therfore dangerous they are, they're both just kids. And Collector didn't have the developmental help King did. He had Belos. For hundreds of years.

There's so much ya can interpret from Belos little sidequest and hallucinations this episode. I also just love how the Gus/Hunter/Willow friendship has become such a prominent little group and its nice to see them all support each other. The Huntlow scenes were also adorable and its cute to see that they finally have started to own up to their feelings while still being a relatively new thing for both of them. Raine continues to catch no breaks.

Where are the other collectors? Clearly in the murals and the story book the Collector has, there were more at some point. Did they die? Did they abandon the Collector? This feeds into the fact that, even with the power and ignorance the Collector has, they're still a child. They write in an ancient poetic book with crayon and broken sentences. They play games and they want to make friends, they're scared of the dark, they want a stuffed animal to keep them safe - They don't know this game is hurting people because they're a ancient godlike immortal child who was used for their power, playing a game with their new friend. The Collector scribbled out a passage in the 'Collector Rule Book' that said, if things didn't go to plan, they would scorch the air and destroy the world, to instead say something about making friends. - They're literally making friends with the antithesis of their species! I don't know if it's just me.. but I think there's something going on with the collector and their past. I hope we get to see something in the final episode.

I suspect the Collectors were losing to the titans, so they enlisted the Titan Trappers, but both sides ended up wiping each other out. This Collector and King ended up the last of their respective kinds.

We know that the Titans sealed the collector away, but King's tower looks a LOT like the architecture in the Archive House, even the mural on the wall is the same as one of the pictures lining the hallways.

Something that popped up in my mind is that The Collector has only really been around Belos lately. He knew how Belos abused Hunter, whom he called "Nephew" which is probably the only exposure to that word that The Collector knows. So with that context, The Collector got defensive when Lillith said "Stay away from my Nephew" because he probably assumed Lillith was going to do to King the same things Belos did to Hunter.

little pet theory off the back of this: Lillith said Titan magic can negate Collector magic. And life on the isles (plus its magic) originated from the Titan itself. Soooo... is that why Lillith's tears were able to reach a simulacrum of Hooty within the toy? Also realising that Hooty being one-shotted by the Collector in minute 1 of the episode is a textbook demonstration of the Worf effect, but for chaotic disasters.

@alwaysr.a836 I actually had a theory that's a mix of that and a bunch of other things. Basically titan magic negates collector magic, the owl curse messes with magic and we know palisman magic helps combat the effects of curses. I think maybe Hunter (who's kind of a palisman now???) and the Clawthornes (Eda Lilith and King) all using their magic in tandem might like, have a really strong effect. Okay so not so much a theory as it is just me wanting to see a really cool combo move, but I do think I'm onto something here!

Not gonna lie but with seeing the way Boscha acted towards Amity during this episode, I kinda wish we learned a little bit more about her. It's like there's so much more to her than just being the mean girl and it's so sad how because of the episodes for season three being shortened and they had to change a few things, that meant we wouldn't get much moments with her in the first place. But I think the writers are trying to make that point even more obvious than usual. The only other episode where they were hinting that she might have self worth issues along with abandoned issues towards Amity was the episode "Wing It Like Witches" and it was only during the first few minutes of it

All I can say is wow! There were a lot of unexpected twists and turns that I both enjoyed and a little scared of (possessed puppet Raine is definitely one of them), Willow was one of my favorite highlights I feel bad for her missing her parents, I would be if something like that happened to me but it’s good that she did let her emotions out instead of keeping them in. Boscha’s character arc was pretty good, glad that she won’t be a huge a-hole. Luz’s palisman is absolutely adorable and I can’t wait to see more of Stringbean. As for The Collector, all i’m going to say is Luz and the others better watch out Overall 100/10.

THIS EPISODE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Dana and her crew just continue to leave us on the edge of our seats. They have done such a fantastic job even with the shorten season and I cant not wait to see what episode 3 brings us. Just like Amphibia’s All In, this episode was the best PEAK penultimate episode of all time. The Owl House will go down as a great show, and now the countdown to The Final Episode in Spring 2023 begins now.

i think the dagger over calebs head could be referring to either (or both) the way belos sees caleb as backstabbing him, or the story of the sword of damocles, wherein a sword hanging over your head represents the danger of people in power (im not quite sure how that connects story/character-wise but visually it HEAVILY reminds me of it)

Even after all of this, I still feel sorry for the Collector. He literally doesn't know any better and King is the only real friend he's had since he was trapped. King is the only one who understands that Collector has no malicious intent and tries to explain that what he's doing is wrong. Everyone else just threatens or and attacks him on sight, so of course he's going to fight back. I hope at some point he loses his godlike powers and gets to grow up as normal human or witch.

@Vocafan X i mean his powers is not the issue but rather his upbringing he openly does not know much about witches or humans and gives them WAY too much credit, like just holding their breath the moon , them eating rocks and gravity. remember he very much disliked and was rather scared of that one part of the book he written over, and it says "but should they meddle in our affairs, we'll clean the planet and scorch the air" which means he is a very good boy morally and should get better role models , one of which that will not make him commit genocide on a massive and him getting punished for being a good kid would be weird, and would kind of just leaves king to defend the world since there are other more powerful collectors out there. and king would NEED a friend who also long lived.

My points on the episode (my time stamps are based off the episode from KZbin): • I like how “Thanks to Them” and “For the Future” both contrast with the first showing the last scene from “King’s Tide” in the kids perspective to present and vise versa in “For the Future” • The fact that the Owl Beast already knew who The Collector was when they started fighting is crazy • Seeing the Collector’s castle out of the Titan’s skull is unsettling • Shoutout to Camilla for being a great stand-in parent! • Seeing everyone turned into puppets originally scared me (especially Lilith and Hooty) • This episode gave me quite Weirdmageddon (no comparison) flashbacks with starry towns, the spies striking people into statues/dolls, and a resistance in a common known place. Except this was more playful rather cheerful (everyone wasn’t really unconscious and there are two “antagonists”) • I wonder who Luz saw at 2:56 . I think they are quite important as it goes back to how Luz connects to things/people?🤔 • Belos’ body decaying is quite discomforting, but leave Raine out of this possession (they’re already a puppet against their will)! • The hauntings Belos is experimenting were something I found interesting, because he feels “guilt”; he thinks he did the right thing to help society (like a Hamlet metaphor if you get my understanding). Though I do have to wonder, are the hauntings where he made his kills (at 6:04, is that where he killed Caleb) • Poor Hunter struggling to cope with Flapjack’s departure, but the powers he gained by joining with him is insane • Absolutely *LOVE* Lilith’s hair (honestly forgot she was a redhead)!!! • Speaking of hair, I love Eda’s hair (looks like the hair she had back in “Echoes of the Past” and the silhouette of Evelyn)! • I love the photo of Eda, Luz, Hooty, and King at 10:24!!! • I thought Odalia would’ve been a puppet or worse, but dang power hungry is not a good look • Hooty never stops finding ways to creeping and impressing me lmao • The walls we see at 25:38 give me “Hollow Mind” vibes when we saw Belos’ mind. I wonder what each picture represents as they seem important (I think it’s the war between the Collectors, Titans, and more, but I can’t tell what else in detail)? • How I hate miscommunication in shows (though why does the Collector hate Luz so much I forgot)! • *What is up* with Kikimora and her continuously trying to kill Luz and the gang (glad Boscha changed in the end, though she seemed as if she had obsession issues). I actually somehow never gave that any thought & believe me I’m not even big on religion but like that’s a wonderful plot line I’m kind of hoping they go full-send with. If the collectors are inherently “good” or at least think they’re better than everyone else & want to purge demons aka the massive titans that are literal demons. That kind of ties everything together in that Titans being demons jsut wanna live their lives unbothered & can technically travel between realms so the angels probably wanted to stop them in case they meddled with humans. Thus spurring the Great War between Titans & Collectors. Love it, 10/10

Feel free to add your own ideas and/or critique mine, this is just for fun and to help me cope with the show's ending. the 's' in the logo will be changed to look like Stringbean, similar to how the 'o' in owl is Owlbert King and/or Luz call Eda 'mom' at some point (and we will all cry because of it) conversely, Eda will call Luz her daughter, and then immediately try to apologize to Camilla who will just give her a hug as way of thanks for caring for Luz (and we will cry again) Raeda and Lumity will have love confessions and kisses the Collector's parent/sibling/one of the other Collectors will make an appearance and take the Collector away. This will be first seen as a worse problem, but after both King and Luz talk to them, it'll be a sort of dues ex machina that makes the Collector put the world back to normal before they both leave like that scene where an angry parent is scolding their child for misbehaving in the exact manner the parent said not to another titan will appear. Whether this is King's dad, mom, sibling, some other random titan or King from the future, we will see a more fully grown titan that will help defeat the Collector and Belos more than just Belos dies. So, there are a few people I think this could be (all with varying degrees of emotional devastation), but I think that depending on how/when they die, it might be reversible by the end. First off is Lilith. If it is her, it'll happen at the start of the episode and be done by the Collector to show how serious and mad he is about what Belos has convinced him is going on; thankfully I think that if this is the case it has the highest likelihood of being undone at the end. Option 2 is either Alador or one of the Blight twins. Depending on how this happens, it has a less likelihood of being undone, sadly. I think Alador (if it's him) will sacrifice himself for either Luz, Amity or Willow; if it's for Lumity it will show how much he loves his daughter and that he approves of her dating Luz (while also reinforcing his statement from the end of COTH about her always being welcomed in the family home), and if it's for Willow it can act as an apology for forcing Amity to cut ties with her when they were kids. If it's Ed or Em, they'll probably be a casualty of the battle; I'm not sure which I'd hate to see die more, but I know the option of Ed dying and leaving Em alone forever would be extra knife twisty. If it's not one of these four, it'll be some other character we know but aren't overly attached to (Boscha, Steve, Bump, Gwen or Del for example) and these are characters that are most likely to stay dead. Obviously I don't want any of them to die, but I think the crew is going to want to go out with a bang during the fight, Hunter will throw himself in front of either Willow, Gus or Camilla to save them from an attack; he'll be severely wounded but won't die. This will cause Willow to cradle him before he passes out and she (thinking he's dead) will kiss him before going berserk and nearly turning the tide single-handedly. when she sees he's alive, she'll kiss him again Eda and Hunter will fight Belos while he's still possessing Raine. Hunter will do most of the physical fighting while Harpy Eda tries to use the 'I know you're in there, Rainestorm' trope Belos will possess Luz, leading to a battle in the mind. Eventually, Luz will seem to lose but will get a pep-talk from the ghost?/memory of her dad and cast Belos out, where he will be swiftly defeated by everyone (Huntlow getting to punch him through the face, for bonus points), and a freed Hooty will them eat him either one of the Collectors or the new titan will reveal a way to make a new portal door (wood from both realms is needed, as well as titan's blood is needed). Camilla's bat and the front door of the Owl House will be reformed with King's blood into a new door and will become the new portal door, and the eye from the original will be replaced with Hooty as the new door is returned to the Owl House (Hooty Hole Theory, confirmed) a montage will show what happens over the next 25-30 years: Lumity and Raeda weddings, Hunter becomes the new emperor, Darius and Alador become friends again before starting to date, Odalia and Kikimora are imprisoned, King grows, before we finally see Luz and Amity bringing their daughter Azura to the Human Realm for the first time (that she can remember) where Camilla, Vee and Masha are throwing her a birthday party with everyone in attendance. While this montage is happening, the closing credits piano theme is being played with a bittersweet tone as the credits scroll across the bottom. After fading to black, a picture of the cast and crew cosplaying as their characters pops up, fading into the same picture with them holding up a banner that says: Be Gay, Do Witchcraft, & Stick Together Weirdos! And then we all cry because it's over, blubbering so loud that we can be heard around the world. Now, obviously this won't all come true, if any of it does at all, but I just wanted to put it all out there. Consider it a love letter and thank you for the countless hours of entertainment that this show has brought me. Special shoutout to Rebecca Rose for introducing me to the series in the first place; not sure how your KZbin videos got into my feed, but I'm glad that they did. Slight apologies that as of this point, I could only watch one episode (TTT) as it aired, and viewed the rest via KZbin (before they came to Disney+). All the love I can give goes to everyone that worked on the show; we all wish there could be more, but we sadly can't currently change that unless Disney execs decide to greenlight side projects, or a comic/novelization continuation of this story. Their 'brand' is outdated and needs more updates like this show could have and did provide.

I took Eda's curse flaring up at the start as a fear response by the Owl Beast. Remember that in Knocking of Hooty's door, we learn that the Owl Beast was captured and imprisoned as the curse by the Collector. I think the Beast took control away from Eda because it didn't want her to try and fight the Collector.

I keep thinking how perfect of a character foil Belos was to Luz and wondering how they are building the Collector to fit with what we've seen. My guess is the witches vs humans narrative will parallel the titans vs collectors with our Collector being like Caleb, or the weirdo who wanted to deviate from the norm and connect with the enemy but was never understood and then ostracized/punished/abandoned. Luz and King are well set up to show the Collector empathy they learned from having a supportive family. Needless to say, I'm ready for the culmination of themes to destroy me :)

side note the entire willow panic attack sequence as well as it being the three of them really reminded me of when we saw gus have his own moment of his gift going out of control in response to his emotions. The way willows gift is with plants, wich is literally supporting a living thing and tending to it to grow strong and care for it fits willow both in her strengths but also her weakness as shown in this episode. the same can be said for Gus. His extreme gift for illusions is directly shown in how he approaches and develops in the world. He knew for a fact his dad wasn't dissapointed in him, but his mind and emotions painted a scarier story that he knew was false but couldn't not believe. Early on in the show he had a big sensitive spot about what was real and what he was able to Convinvce himself was real. Both of these amazing characters have incredible natural gifts that are much more powerful than the average, and they both have moments where they lose control of those gifts with their eyes figuratively blinding them with the color of that magic during their crisis, both of wich are directly related to the way their magic can't help them. What can willow do when she can't help or nurture enough to help what she loves grow and thrive, and who is tending to the tender? What can gus do if he himself the master illusionist can't tell whats real and what is illusory? How does he know if he's lying to himself? the magic that each character excels at in this show really shows exactly who they are. Math Tholemew being suprisingly dependable but a little deluded fits with his rock based construction magic, as well as the hint of illusion magic he picked up from gus. Luz's glyph magic being quite literally a path she had to find and build herself, as well as one that shows a beautiful insight into the nature of what exactly IS magic. The fact that it seem,s like glyph magic is a gift FROM the titan, and her natural ability to truely connect to others and care about them almost extends to how fast the Isles show her the runes in comparison to belos. The way camilla does magic and its a magic she Learned from her daughter, and it's not quite right but she's TRYING. In the end it works not as intended but well enough, then she uses her "bruja throw" a completely mundane attack of a thrown bat that does exactly what needed to hhappen. Her magic is just that. It's her humanity and her mundane love and attempt to support as best she can. The way belos' magic is true corruption and control. It literally is dissolving his humanity. It's a twisted curiosity similair in part to luz's in the glyph magic, but his response to this new and dangerous world was rejection and further isolation not to reach out with understanding. He faces all of his struggles alone, and the corruption of his magic is so simmilair to the way he ffcarefully controlled others and even the creation of the grimwalkers being a false front and a blatent denial of his own actions consequences. Amity and her abomination magic, A form of magic that seems to demand the most careful and perfect work but also is done best by the witches we've seen with the best hearts. tho also just like their sludge they are not the most transparent of people. we see that she also was capable an incredible amount of change and flexibility. Like an abomination she is show to be incredibly loyal. First to her mother even with the horrible treatment she recieved, But later to luz. she is loyal, devoted and willing to change as well as it being her connection to her father. I could go ON and ON. The magic in this show is beautifully thought out and ties directly into the character arcs. chefs kiss.

i think a reason eda fully turns owl beast in the intro is because of the owl beast's recollection of the collector, or at least *A* collector, from eda's dream in knock knock knockin on hootys door. the fireworks from eda's dad were similar to what the collector did to capture the owl beast, and i think seeing the collector made the owl beast angry

The knife in belos lab, is the same he killed his brother with (idea) . It is the Sims sign over the ghost of caleb. I bet blood from that is how he was able to make new grimwalkers. He could use caleb's body itself, unless Caleb was lost in the "in between" place.

Belos gurgles "no, it's not ready" after failing to possess the body in his laboratory, so I think we're supposed to glean that it was a grimwalker body that hadn't finished forming yet. It's a special kind of horrifying that a grimwalker prior to animation looks so much like a combination of plant and zombie... which given the ingredients list, I think is exactly what they are.

Remember that in Separate Tides Luz and Eda gave Hunter fake silkiedamus (spelling) scales rather than killing one and that was one of the ingredients to make a grim walker.
