My grandfather, James Kenneth Davis was behind enemy lines that morning. He was a member of the so called *Band of Brothers* who dropped in during the night via parachute. He was later captured, escaped, and captured again. Sent to a camp in Poland and then he escaped again! Joined up with Russian forces who facilitated his return to service. He was an officer. Died of old age in Everett, WA.

Many people almost immediately think that Omaha is the hardest sector of Normandy during the D-Day Landings. But the men at Pointe du Hoc laid their lives to prevent further casualties on the already heavy bloodhshed at Omaha. Scaling a cliif while being shot, cut off, and bombarded, and then holding that same position with diminishing supplies and a long wait for reinforcements, they truly are the greatest generation of men to ever live.

Lieutenant Colonel Rudder later became the president of Texas A&M University and transformed it from a small, all-male university to the largest university in the US by enrollment. Rudder Tower on campus is named in his honor and is 110 feet tall, the exact height of Pointe du Hoc. I'm sure I speak for all Texas A&M students past, present, and future when I say that we are proud to call James Earl Rudder a fellow Aggie.

The remaining bunkers and the positions of the French 155s are still partially intact. I am so sorry for your loss. I have deep respect for your great-grandfather's brother's service in WW2. It's hard to find out now what our ancestors did during D-Day and beyond because many records were lost in the 1973 Saint Louis fire. My grandfather served in the 5th Rangers and received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Luckily, we still had records that archive his service. God Bless your family and those who had loved ones who never returned after D-Day. They were the true heroes.

Your animations and storytelling never ceased to amaze me! I have some few requests, can you make an animation for the following: 1) V-2 Rocket - how those rockets are manufactured and how the Allies counter it. 2) Germany's Tiger Tanks vs Soviet Union's IS-2 Tanks during WW2 3) Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and the surrender of Japan 4) Schwerer Gustav (31.5 inches Railway Gun) - largest-calibre rifled weapon ever used in combat. 5) Sinking of U-864 - this sinking of U-boat during WW2 remains the only incident in the history of naval warfare where one submarine sank another while both were submerged. 6) B-29 Superfortress - predecessor of the B-17 Flying Fortress. Designed with state-of-the-art technology, which included a pressurized cabin, dual-wheeled tricycle landing gear, and an analog computer-controlled fire-control system that allowed one gunner and a fire-control officer to direct four remote machine gun turrets.

Awesome video!!!! In 2000 I had the honor of spending a week visiting the Normandy Beaches (all 5) and Point du Hoc, Caen, saw the Bayeux Tapestry, and the American Cemetery. Saw the Mulberry out in the distance. Just a fantastic experience. Visited Pegasus Bridge as well. Day of my visit there was a lite rain shower that passed through the area. The group I was with was at Point Du Hoc and we were wandering around the bunkers and trenches and such. I was goofing around the craters and slipped on the wet dirt; fell on my butt and slide downhill for about 15' or so. Guess I got a little experience of what the attackers/defenders went through. We went to Saint Mer Egliese and explored the town also. We wasted a bunch of time in Saint Mer Egliese at a local restaurant because one of our tour members (not speaking/reading French) ordered a meal that had something to do with the innards of a pig and whatever was left inside them innards. About 2-hours later when the meal was served, and that tour member finally realized what he had ordered (someone in the tour group was playing a joke) .....was a fun experience!! We were supposed to go to the Operation Cobra area, but that meal experience blew that thought. Afterwards, the tour group headed off to the Verdun Battlefields.

In every WWII game I've played, the D-Days always took place in Omaha beach. Only in CoD II you can play in Point Du Hoc. Very interestanting the story of that battle.

Your stories are beautiful as always, with such a compelling narrative. Also, not to take away from your older videos, but your modern animations are sublime! Love your channel!

Except the fact he reloads it like a weird bolt action or airsoft gun XD. You can definitely reload rounds into the en bloc clip, just not like that all at once.

Those animations still get better. Great work! I suggest you could do something about the Battle or Narvik, or maybe about German invasion of Denmark? It's a very little- known topic. Thanks for your work once again.

Once again you have outdone yourself Yarnhub, my most sincere congratulations🥳. The animation, the voice acting and everything else were top-notch, you just keep getting better and better. May all those men rest in peace because without them Europe would have remained oppressed by the Nazis and for having fought so bravely for a free world those soldiers have my gratitude🫡.

Loved it. Only channel that goes into full screen, and from the get go. You must know that already, and am waiting for the case of Yarn-Cola the guys had in the submarine that sunk a train 🙂. Oh and quite nice referenceS to SPR. Think the first one's the german soldier throwing the granate, taken from the scene where Tom Hanks gets hellbent on taking that MG42 nest and gets the medic killed. Followed by the "What are our orders - Sir!", closely afterwards... then I was just too immersed to keep looking 😀. Thank you so much guys, never stop doing what you love!

The GMC Duk was a beautiful amphibious 6x6 truck, with a top speed of just 3 miles per hour in the water, she was a sitting duck. I believe the only thing that kept it floating was the bilge pumps in the hull that were powered by the propeller transfer case which was powered by the drive shaft.

Fun Fact: In the movie "The Longest Day" the attack on Point Du Hoc was depicted but DFZ the man who made the movie did that to try and send an anti-war message but was interrupted as disrespectful towards the memory of the men who made this exceedingly difficult climb.
