I used to live about 50 miles from there in the suburbs of dire Indiana first Baptist Church Lowell, Indiana Pastor, David Allen Hoffman probably in the early 2000s we went up there for a taping of unshackled. They gave us a tour and then we ate.

I am so happy you got to visit Pacific Garden Mission! I wanted to see what they’re about for myself and haven’t been there. I love ministries that love the homeless ♥️They turned my testimony into a story on Unshackled in October 2022 after a pastor encouraged me to submit my story with them. (It’s on their YT page!) I was born in Chicago and grew up in Kenosha WI (just south of Milwaukee where you visited 😊). My heart lately has been heavy for Chicago. What a wonderful experience for you to have.

I grew up, at least spent my teenage years right down the street from the old Pacific Garden mission. I went to Jones high school so it was right next to my high school so I saw the street preachers who ended out the little comic books every morning. Lots of homeless as well, I remember they would always call me “shorty” … Later in life when I would take my wife to Chicago to see Rush and Peter Gabriel, I took her downtown to show her where I used to live, went to high school, and I noticed the mission was gone… Glad to know it just relocated and expanded. Interesting stuff, thank you for sharing

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Acts 16:31 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Colossians 1:14 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Salvation is obtained by simply believing in Jesus’ death (Blood sacrifice), burial and resurrection for payment of all your sins (past, present and future) with your whole heart.

I've lived West of Chicago anywhere between 45-60 miles) for most of my life. I've known of Pacific Garden Mission but never been there so this was interesting!!

My last time there (6 months ago) I saw NIVs sitting on a table to be taken next to king James Bibles. I'm told moody helps support $$ this ministry and that's why they're there. Whatever the reason, I expressed my displeasure and was told not to come back.
