85 years old, can barely walk, shaking uncontrollably, clearly losing motor functions. - Do you remember September 27, 1969? - Yes, sir. - How old was John at that day? - He was 15 years, 6 months, and 2 weeks. That answer came like a whip slash, like “how dare you ask me if I remember my son’s death”. I’ve never seen strength like this, what a man!

It made me sad too. I worked in hospice care for years. Many patients passed away on weekends. It’s because they hold off passing until they say good bye to family. Since most people are free on the weekends, the free time allows for final good byes. I think the father needed peace before he passed away. My condolences to the family. The parents seem so sweet.

That's not a problem with jury trials. That is simply reality. It happens all the time. Same problem set. People come to a different solution. If you are having trouble grasping having different answers in life, think back to your first grade classroom. Same math problem. Same information. 20 students come up with 3 different conclusions. @@SacrificeLoveJoyLife lol.. I’m 39 yo so I’ve been in the big boy world for a while. I agree that it’s a problem with people in general but the more knowledgeable the members of the jury are about science, the more likely they are to come to a reasonable conclusion when a lot of evidence provided in court is scientific in nature. I don’t even know what you’re arguing about. I just think there should be a basic legal and physics knowledge test to be on a jury. Nothing too deep. I know that trials from a judge have similar issues. I guess I thought that was obvious enough to go without saying but apparently you disagree?

@@GoldiJapLoxYou clearly have no idea what it was like in those days. Hitchhiking was extremely common. My dad often gave lifts to hitchhikers. I still occasionally will give someone a lift in our rural area. Temperatures have been 99 and 100. I stopped for an elderly man walking with a bag from our local Dollar General. He thanked me but he was only three lots from his home, so he thanked me, God blessed me, and finished the sort distance on foot. It wasn't worth getting in and out of a car for that short distance. People were far more honest, reliable, went to church regularly and felt a stronger sense of morality and responsibility. You can't judge people of one time by the "standards" of a different time.

Those boys actually killed this couple as well, by keeping this terrible secret all these years. They were cowards then and they are still cowards. My eldest daughter died suddenly in January 2019, from a vicious asthma attack. She was 39 years old. The death of a child leaves a big, big hole in your soul, and you never go through a day without missing your child. The McCabe couple never found closure. May they be at peace now.

I grew up with an abusive mother-and Evelyn you are the mom we all dream to have. You did NOTHING wrong. Your love for your son is the most obvious and beautiful I have seen out of any 48 hours episode. These parents love their boy. And he is and was lucky to have that kind of love. Growing up in New England is complicated. People look and act gruff and tough, but if you have a flat they are the first to help you out. So you think everyone is severely a softie on the inside. But sometimes people are what they look like. That’s a hard lesson I’ve had to learn. Sometimes there isn’t more behind the crass and rough edges.

It's wild I've done several cases like that. Where the killer shows up to support the family during the search, the funeral, family dinners, the community memorials etc. I have seen cases where the killer actually goes with the family to hand out flyers. It's even more shocking when the killer is the parent & they pretend their baby just disappeared. And they go on the news begging for the kidnappers to return the child. It's absolutely shocking.
