It’s interesting to hear the perspective of someone who doesn’t like the way George writes his history. As someone who isn’t typically a fantasy fan, the way GRRM writes his history was a big part of what drew me into the deeper fandom after I read the main series.

Just a fun example of how fast 13 kids (or 16?) might grow. My Grandparents had 9 kids, those 9 kids had 42 kids, and so far those 42 kids have had 29 kids. So in about 60 years, my Grandparents have produced 80 "ancestors" so to say. Currently, 3 of my cousins are pregnant and two are engaged, so that number is sure to go up. Also, my youngest cousin is 6.

I am a math geek and wanted to take this a bit farther. My grandparents had 9 and their kids averaged 4.5, or roughly half as much. If we figure the same numbers for Lucamore the Lusty you'd have 16 children who would have 8 apiece and those kids would have 4. In 80 years or so he'd have 656 ancestors!

Congratulations! Only one note : the word to seek here is “descendants” or “progeny”, not “ancestors”. *Ancestors come before . Descendants come after* Progeny are all the children of a line/marriage, of any generation. Yet many of those children may now be ancestors now too!

As a not-really-related aside, I always wanted Jon’s real Targaryen name to be Jacaerys when he discovers his true heritage 🥺 but realistically Rhaegar probably would have wanted to name Jon some male variation of Visenya in keeping with the whole ‘3 Headed Dragon’ theme he was going for. That said, I know most in the fandom assume if Jon is bonding with any one of Dany’s dragons it will be Rhaegal, but if Visenya is Jon’s namesake wouldn’t he also have an equal chance at riding Viserion..?

With regards to my Bonifer theory. He is introduced to us somehow in the company or proximity of Jamie and Lancel, two famous Queen lovers and, in Jamie’s case, Queen impregnator. As Lancel, Bonifer seems overhelmed by a great sin and he atones for it by metaphorical auto-castration (parallel with Lucamore physical guelding). As he wants people with a enjoy sex out of his way, I don’t think he is enjoying his celibacy status as much as he pretends. While our beloved Dunk was a hedge knight, Bonifer is a landed knight but, somehow, despite their lower status, both manage to get into royal circles quite early in their life. Dunk’s career starts with making a living out of tourneys, Bonifer manages to win one and crown Rhaella the Queen of love and beauty some time in the year before Rhaegar’s birth. As for Rhaegar, his talent with jousting can’t be denied - he unhorsed guys like Brandon Stark who won’t loose to him just because they are good courtiers as Barristan might be - and the crowning of Lyanna mirrors the Crowning of Rhaella. At first sight, Dunk seems shy arround ladies, Bonifer won’t have one in his proximity, Rhaegar won’t frequent brothels and Jon had sworn an oath but if we look closer, Dunk is suspected to have improved the genes of several westerosi houses, Bonifer is brought to us in the dubious company of Lanceland Jamie, Rhaegar is the rapist of the century and Jon... we all know he knows a thing or two. And then, is the brooding, a thing mostly associated with Jon. Dunk thinks a lot of how thick he is. We don’t know how young Bonifer saw himself, but the most devout guy we find at Harrenhal is as gloomy as anyone who will spent their time thinking “o, what a great sinner am I” could be. Rhaegar himself is not the most pleasant company - a young child who doesn’t mix with other kids - unlike Dunk he is probably seeing himself as much smarter than the rest - and later, the ultimate emo adult.

My take on Jace plus Sara equals more secret children: first, is of less importance if they got married or not. I believe they did, because is the kind of thing a guy like Cregan could impose on a frigthen 15 years old and also mirrors Robb wedding. Now, Jace could be as honourable as Robb and he intends to keep his word or he is just buying time to get out of the wolf’s wood and plans to later annul the marriage or even play a Lucamore and have two wifes or more. This is also of less importance. But it reminds me of a moment in France’s history when King Henri IV promised to marry a lady if she will borne him a son. Either married or unmarried, whatever was the pact stipulating, when hell broke loose, shrewd Cregan didn’t run to Rhaenyra’s help. He waited. For his banners, the Maesters say. I think he waited for Sara to give birth. With Jace dead, Creagan could claim the realm for his “trueborne” nephew but as I think the child proved to be a girl, Cregan knew better. I also belive this daughter descendants are also ancestors of some recent characters: especially Arya Flynt, Ned’s grandmother, but I won’t dismiss the idea that Umbers or folks beyond the Wall could share this lineage.

He was nothing but loyal to his brother. Viserys was the one who treated him badly, sent him away for an alleged insult and forced him to exile his lover which lead to the death of Daemon’s first child. And Daemon was always the dutiful brother, even in this circumstances.

Clutch of eggs in the crypts = Sara Snow was pregnant. She might be the pregnant woman Bran saw. I suspect a woods witch was involved in trying to get Targs+Starks happen. I think a CotF-aligned character(s) have been trying to bring the Targs under the Old Gods' fold because they foresaw that all weirwood would be burned by a dragon, so they have tried to prevent that future from happening. But little do they know that it will not be a Targ doing so, but Bran having skinchanged Drogon. We had Sara Snow + Jace, Duncan the Small and Jenny, Rhaegar and Lyanna. Eventually Jon and Dany?

Making this a separate post for the ‘rhythm: Now this is not one of those things I think is likely to happen in George’s series...but I do like the idea that the original Night King wasn’t some Disney villain, but was instead a human married to an other, who was supposed to watch the border between our lands & theirs from this giant wall of ice that they summoned/built for his predecessors; who fulfilled an ancient agreement between man, child, & other. At least before getting betrayed by other humans who were sick of being told where they couldn’t go by some uppity know-it-all...and that’s why they couldn’t allow his memory to be accurately remembered. Which leads to unJon becoming a new Night King. Brought back by the Others to finally enforce that older pact and keep humans on our side of the wall, only for him to convince “the Others” to help us deal with the self-destructive horrors we resorted to out of fear of the other. But that’s just because I like running with the “dragons = nukes” metaphor...nuclear stockpiles being the result of two empires (USA & USSR), who were spectacularly ignorant about & paranoid of one another, turning their fear of the other up to 11.

George wrote those after ADWD was released so no. But I think if he had written the Jace and Sara Snow saga before those visions by Bran, they would've been included. Possible too he includes them in the future, could use it as a way to reveal through Bran RLJ.

The Jace and Lady of the Vale story reminds me in the "how the hell did this in its details make the round"- ness, of the Julius Ceasar the Queen of Nicemedis story . . . For people who do not know it, Ceasar was a prolific flirt and slept with like all the wife of his allies, their daughters . . . Pretty much everyone he came across, but this story have him the the pretty sentens "every womans man and every mans women" attributed. 20 years old Ceasar stayed with a king as a kind of ambassador and rumor has it, they slept with each other. Not a problem in itself, in rome it was considered to be ok, to be gay, . . . But only as long as you are the top . . . .which he aparently was not, so it was a fountain of redicule that hounted him the rest of his life . . . The whole alpha men idiotcy sadly is not new at all
