Thank you for the kind words and support Neil. I know what you mean about young kids and not having time. Although i never wanted to run when my kids were younger, there would of been no way fitting full marathon training, full time job and being a dad at same time. There is no rush and you will be back older and stronger whenever you are ready. In fact, i interviewed a "born again runner" who stopped running when he had kids and restarted when they were older and he is now world record holder at many distances. the pizza was awesome as you will see from the FULL video edit next week!

Thank you! I have Berlin and London booked, but will also book some more for the summer shorter races! And you?

Well done. I don’t know why they call it the Manchester Marathon when barely any of it is in Manchester.
@PoetWithPace2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m not sure on the Manchester borders, but races are normally named after which main city they go through 👍🏼
@languageoffootball2 жыл бұрын
@@PoetWithPace yes it’s a shame as apart from the first 3 miles in and out of Manchester the rest is outside of the City. It’s a real shame as a Marathon used to be a huge thing when I was a kid and seeing runners go through your suburb was inspirational. It doesn’t touch one bit of the north or east of the City. Sad because north Manchester in particular is always forgotten but at least it used to have the marathon pass through.
@languageoffootball2 жыл бұрын
And yes the city it runs through is a valid point but even that’s a little nebulous here as the turnaround is on Deansgate which is barely into the City at all and only around half a mile over the border.
@PoetWithPace2 жыл бұрын
@@languageoffootball i can understand that. I guess a lot is to do with councils and other organisation who would allow road closures for a whole day?
@PoetWithPace2 жыл бұрын
@@languageoffootball such a nice stretch across Deansgate and back

Great video and effort. Inspiring me to want to step up from Half to Full marathon. Would Manchester be a good first Marathon?
@PoetWithPace2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed this Brian. If you are UK based, i would say it is one of the best to have as your first. Great transport links, nice route, lots of support and free beer (alcohol free) at the end! have you been running a while?
@briansmyth15022 жыл бұрын
@@PoetWithPace Yes, I'm based in London. I started running 18 months ago at the age of 42. I have completed Royal Parks Half and London Landmarks Half in 2:10 and 2:08 respectively. I've got Battersea Park Half this weekend and plan to do Vitality London Big Half and Amsterdam Half in September and October. Currently in week 3 of sub 2 hour training plan, hoping to break 2 hrs at the Big Half. Thinking of training to step up to Full after these. Manchester looks great, and beer 🍺 👌

@@briansmyth1502 sounds like an excellent plan. It would be worth getting your place booked and a place to stay before hotel prices rocket up, unless they are already pricey! If you are in London, maybe worth considering Brighton for the other big city marathon UK as its closer than Manchester for you? Albeit the Brighton "power station" section can be disheartening as it is an out and back section with not much support.
@briansmyth15022 жыл бұрын
@@PoetWithPace Thank you. From yours and other videos that was my worry with Brighton. Manchester is a great city, I'll make a weekend of it. Would love to do London but not sure I'd get in.
@PoetWithPace2 жыл бұрын
@@briansmyth1502 i know what you mean. A lot of people pay for the Manchester place and if they get a London ballot place, they run London. Also get a cancellable hotel in Manchester or surrounding areas, which you can cancel booking.

Hi Donata I am trying to figure what is is about guys like you and the likes of Tommy Hughes that means yous are miles ahead of the rest of us with regards running ability. I am endlessly going down with injuries even when doing 10 min miles. I am 65. It must be genetic....a good skeleton with everything in the right place. The search goes on for some strategy to avoid niggling injuries. The will is strong but the body won't play ball.......
